Annoying things other posters do

Just wondering what things other posters do that really annoy you?

For me it's the deliberate misconstruing of an opening post and then flaming the OP for something they never actually said or implied.

Also the posters who conjure up wild scenarios to try and prove the OP is BU - "How do you know the woman who pushed you out of the way at the bus stop wasn't rushing home to her seriously ill child and has only 2p in her purse so couldn't afford a taxi. Try to be kinder and less self absorbed in future".

Posters passively-aggressively winding up the OP or other posters with "It never happened". Hmm

Posters who have been proven so wrong they can't come up with anything else than swearing, and can only come up with a "fuck off you bitch" kind of answer. Helpful and so mature. It's especially annoying when you would agree with them, but they just destroy all credibility from the side you are defending.

The reverse snobbery, competitive hardship and bitter aggressiveness when someone has a bit more than they have. It's boring

There are a lot of very unhappy people on this forum, thank god for the funny ones!
And thank you NorthEndGal, never heard of bitchplopping until toda

Tallace · 27/04/2018 12:05

Posters who say

"Has anyone else had the nasty virus that's going round at the moment?"

All of mumsnet dont all live in the same small village!

KurriKurri · 27/04/2018 12:06

Pointless information threads
OP 'how tall are you?

Poster 1 5'3"
Poster 2 5'4"

ad infinitum - why do you need to collate the heights of MNers ?

And the Syria brigade

OP 'My Ds keeps ruining his school shoes, what should I do?'

Answer 'Is that all you have to worry about, when there are people dying in Syria ?'

We're all aware of Syria, anyone who isn't mad thinks it is a dreadful heartbreaking situation, but we are able to think about other things too' And unless you live in a war torn area of Syria (in which case you wouldn't be on MN) then you think about other things too. Stop trying to 'outcare' everyone else, you look like a tit.

I’m constantly grossed out by a lot of posters excitement over obviously sad threads. Affair threads that are building to a confrontation/reveal are especially bad for it. It’s so obvious that a ton of posters are treating it like an interactive Eastenders episode, but what’s more galling is everyone acts appalled at that suggestion even though it’s blatant. The frenzy threads devolve into when the OP doesn’t feed the beast is vile.

There was a thread recently about police presence in an OP’s street, and so many posters where practically giddy with excitement over the drama of it. Urging the OP to go ask the police for all sorts of details and report back for their entertainment. It was clear that whatever was going on it was going to be sad and awful, but posters just kept treating it like a fun little diversion.

Just go watch some trashy reality show if you want to revel in real life unpleasantness.

MrsJayy · 27/04/2018 12:07

Posters who say your meal is quite carby gets a virtual 2 fingers from me and if they say your childs meal is... that is a feck off

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 27/04/2018 12:12

'Is that all you have to worry about, when there are people dying in Syria ?'

Grin I always wonder why people coming up with these comments are not involved with some kind of charity at least here, instead of wasting valuable resources on MN
FloralCup · 27/04/2018 12:13

Posters who take offence even if the OP discounts them in the OP.

OP: why do people drive their kids to school if they live close by? I don't mean people who who have mobility issues or need to drive to work after.

Poster: I have to drive to work! I don't have time to walk and then go home to get the car. So I'll drive to school thanks, if that's ok by you OP?

ClopChops · 27/04/2018 12:23

I also don’t like people who report threads, unless in exceptional circumstances. Fair enough report individual posts, but the amount of entire threads getting deleted is so annoying.

ghostyslovesheets · 27/04/2018 12:27

Oh god yes the ‘carbs are the work of Satan brigade’ they can fuck right off

Ditto the big pharma / aspartame will kill you gang

user1485342611 · 27/04/2018 12:29

I totally agree FloralCup

There seems to be some posters who just taking offence and winding themselves up into a state of indignation over something the OP never . You see it all the time on here. It also means everyone has to put about eleventy billion qualifiers and exceptions and clarifications into their opening post to stop some permanently offended type taking umbrage and completely de-railing the thread.

OP posts:
Katedotness1963 · 27/04/2018 12:30

Deliberate misunderstanding of posts and then taking offence.

Thread marking. Then the thread ends up with 728 posts and 35 are significant.

Someone posts a sad/scary/emotional post and people thread mark with a ".". Cold!

"Don't want to read and run, but I can't help" ???

And, maybe I'm a bit thick, I can never figure out how old kids are. DS 6... Is that your sixth, a 6 year old or in year 6? Plus, I think year 6 and primary 6 are different ages?

Posters who can't see outside their own world, so never believe anyone's else life is different. "(A) It's too late to do anything about it now. (B) No, it's not, it's only lunchtime. (A) Not in Australia... (C) While dropping my child at school this morning...(D) Now I know you're lying, it's the school holidays! (C) Not in America.

Emily7708 · 27/04/2018 12:33

On the TV threads people will be happily chatting about last night’s episode and there’s always someone who comes on to say something like “I stopped watching this programme years ago, it’s rubbish, don’t know how you can watch it”. Why seek out the thread and bother posting on it then?!

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 27/04/2018 12:35

People asking if someone who has acted like an absolute twat 'could be in the early stages of dementia'

No. They're just a cunt.

Lizzie48 · 27/04/2018 12:41

The reporting of threads isn't nearly as bad as the posters who pick on vulnerable OPs and say that they must have made it up. Sometimes there are threads that are fake, but that is when you're meant to report them. Attacking OPs when they are clearly very upset, just because there is something that you think doesn't add up, really is very unkind.

FairyFace · 27/04/2018 12:41

Mine is :

If he was my dh he'd be gone...

I many moons ago thought this, but life teaches you that you don't always know how your going to react to a situation that hasn't happened to you...

Deshasafraisy · 27/04/2018 12:46

“Oops sorry! Cross post”

No one gives a shit

IJustLostTheGame · 27/04/2018 12:47

"We can't possibly comment on that OP. We need more information"
And then demand the OP into give details that really aren't relevant.

Batmanthedude · 27/04/2018 12:50

People who literally spat out their tea or literally crying with laughter.

roseblossom75 · 27/04/2018 12:52

When people jump on the OP assuming they are over reacting without realising they are suffering from extreme anxiety and having a panic attack.

Also the "sheep" who wait for someone to have a dig at the OP and then follow suit.

Notso · 27/04/2018 12:57

Posters who trot out the same old quotes on the same old topics, the cool girl passage from Gone Girl, the Terry Pratchett Vimes boots one and the Tea/Sex analogy.

The following phrases
"get a cleaner"
"get a nanny"
"book yourself a spa day"
"leave your husband and kids for the weekend and stay in a hotel"
"Get a slow cooker"
"Batch cook at the weekend"
"Just give them a picky tea"
"Just do a rotisserie chicken and a bag of salad"
"My children go to a super selective grammar/indie and..."
"Each to their own but [insert highly judgy comment]"

The smuggins winking smiley.

Posters who beg for updates on threads where there's a drama especially when it's disguised as support, I saw someone post "MN will be here for you every step of the way OP, do keep us updated"

FreudianSlurp · 27/04/2018 12:57

He said, she said posts, especially without names, person A and then person B, I cba to read that rubbish.

No paragraphs.

Poor spelling.

Loose /lose

halfwitpicker · 27/04/2018 13:01

Also the ridiculous 'should I go to and e' posts.

'I've broken my neck, should I call 999?'

Hmm, I wonder.

When did people lose the ability to make decisions for themselves?

MrsJayy · 27/04/2018 13:01

I am not the brightest button so I get lost with lets call friend A Sandra posts they frazzle mybrain.

ThymeLord · 27/04/2018 13:01

Sorry, but some kids are just little arseholes, grown up arseholes don't just magically appear from nowhere - they were first little arseholes

I think that has to be my favourite line of the day Grin My mum used to say something very similar, only without the arsehole part!
