To love the Mail and The Sun?

Because they are covering this and this and this? (No links to either paper, or dodgy links, just background info on a government website, Twitter and a Mumsnet thread).

The petition is one of the most important going for 51% of the UK population. I can’t believe that women are having to petition to get consulted, but that’s 2018 for you. If the Mail and the Sun are going to cover it so it gets more visibility then that’s a good thing, IMO.

It's a real fucking shame that we have to rely on these rags to shine a light on this issue because no other paper is brave enough.

Yes - who would have guessed.

A Labour Member (not for long - come the 20th) whose seen more sensible articles in The Spectator and The Times.

Not sure I can share the enthusiasm for the Sun and Fail - but nonetheless glad they are picking this story up.

Kudos though to Hadley Freeman who seems to be the only Guardian columnist whose making a stand I think I have a slight crush.

And if the island of YAVU was also a sovereign state that is a member of the UN in its own right, it’d be an excellent answer on Pointless.
But back to your original question, I cannot believe that MNers really hate the Mail when so many of them link to it, whilst issuing an apology, so often. On these particular issues we’ll all have to get used to strange bedfellows, I think. I can’t imagine ever reading the Sun because, argh my eyes, but I don’t have to agree with everything they say to agree with some of the things they say.

If the "better" papers won't cover it and we need to get a message out, why should we stay silent? Better that than in a few years time, everyone is moaning about the consequences of this because no one told them it was in the pipeline. Whatever works.

How many times in history have people turned a blind eye to people doing evil because it furthered their own purposes? We should learn from the past that it doesn't end well.

Judashascomeintosomemoney Oh yes, when people post threads about how they 'can't believe' some rubbish about a celeb, which they have blatantly just read on the DM website, and then apologise for the link Hmm It's the most widely-read paper in the UK, so obviously some odd people like it.

It's the slightly more respectable Mail on Sunday covering it, if that helps at all.

Its not just about changing rooms and bloody toilets.

Women deserve a say on any change to the law that is going to have far reaching consequences for all women and girls.

The amount of censorship that occurs on the BBC, Grauniad, and Independent means that some major news would never be reported at all were it not for the Sun and the Mail..

They are both misogynist newspapers who are gleeful to have found a topic on which they can have a go at Labour whilst pretending to hold the moral higher ground.
