Well, since you asked..... it's 19th November!

Richard Herring, twitter.com/Herring1967 is currently providing a sterling public service in letting everyone - particularly anyone feeling a bit 'what-about-the-menz' today - know that there is an International Men's Day too.

In doing so, he's also raising money for Refuge www.justgiving.com/fundraising/November19th?utm_source=twitter

AIBU to encourage you, if you would like to and feel like celebrating International Women's Day by donating to a charity which provides important services for women and children, to donate too?

Brilliant Grin and yes I will

Frescoed · 08/03/2018 11:37

Cheers ghosty

Just been scrolling through his Twitter, it's funny Grin
He'll be ready for a swift beer or three tonight if he's attempting to take on all the Twitter numpties lol!
There's another big thread about it here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3187525--When-is-the-International-Men-s-Day

carryondoctor · 08/03/2018 11:42

That's great! I took him literally at first and was all cat's bum Hmm. I think i need caffeine.

Frescoed · 08/03/2018 11:44

Ahh cady should have known someone else would have picked it up too!

OP posts:
HotCrossBunFight · 08/03/2018 11:45

Yes. We know. There were about 5 billion threads on the exact same thing yesterday. Some posters even felt the need to create the same thread under different topics. How did you miss it?

Twistofanxiety · 08/03/2018 11:46

I was pretty sure it was EVERY other day of the year

CadyHeron · 08/03/2018 11:46

Blimey, hotcrossbun, why the cats bum face and turning up like the Thread Police?
Go read his feed, it might make you smile a bit.

HotCrossBunFight · 08/03/2018 11:48

I did after the thousands of threads yesterday. It's dull.

Frescoed · 08/03/2018 11:48

Well, HotCrossBun all I can do is apologise! I was working doing other stuff yesterday, rather than watching Mumsnet. I imagine you'll get over it, though.

HotCrossBunFight · 08/03/2018 11:50

Well done for working. Clever girl!

CarefullyDrawnMap · 08/03/2018 11:52

Hotcross If it's on a few different threads (only 3 I think, chat, AIBU, and feminist chat) there is more chance people will see it and donate. They've nearly raised £50,000 for Refuge. I imagine it's pretty boring having to leave your life and go to a refuge too because some fucker is abusing you.

Frescoed · 08/03/2018 11:53

HotCrossBun thank you, I did feel proud of myself Grin Obviously I'm going to need a bit lie-down today though...

OP posts:
CarefullyDrawnMap · 08/03/2018 11:54

Also, I really like Hot Cross Buns and feel quite cross myself now that you've adopted the name of such a fine confection in order to be crabbit. For shame.

whoputthecatout · 08/03/2018 11:54

Very entertaining. All those men thinking they are being clever asking when international men's day is, assuming there isn't one and they cab screech sexism. They must feel really silly. Plus they have never heard of google obviously.

whoputthecatout · 08/03/2018 11:54

cab? can.

carryondoctor · 08/03/2018 11:55

It's crystal clear in the title what the thread is about. If you're bored with the topic, why click it?!

BeastInView · 08/03/2018 11:55

All the 'but why don't we have an International Men's Day' blokey moaners are a pain in the arse. But I have to say I find Richard Herring's annual IWD thing irritating too. Bit too attention seeking. But it's a lot of money for a good charity so I'll give him a pass.

CarefullyDrawnMap · 08/03/2018 11:55

They've reached the £50,000 Grin

MakeUpMyRoom · 08/03/2018 11:56

I'm pleased he's making money but it's pretty attention seeking.

Clandestino · 08/03/2018 12:01

It's always International Men's Day. Every day.

MsMalcontent · 08/03/2018 12:03

Oh who cares if it's attention seeking. £50,000 for Refuge.

NorksAreMessy · 08/03/2018 12:05

“Attention seeking” is the point, isn’t it?
He is not trying to be self effacing and modest

tiredbutFuckIt · 08/03/2018 12:05

Well you can view Richard as attention seeking or you can view it as him using his privilege to do something positive. If a woman tweeted in the same way she would be getting death and rape threats right back ASAP so having a guy take any flack (admittedly less flack, because he’s a guy and men are inclined to listen to a man rather than threaten them) and help raise over 30k for Refuge in 3 hours. It’s pretty good I think. Nice one Rich. Also he is quite a nice man.

BeastInView · 08/03/2018 12:07

He is not trying to be self effacing and modest

Well no. He's a comedian, they don't tend to be. Plus he knows this is the day of the year when his profile will be at its highest.
