'Its international mens day every day'
What a bitter and short sighted statement. A lot of the comments on this thread are just balls of misandry.
Was it international mens day when a 167 blokes were burned alive on Alpha Piper? And why did they so horrifically die? To provide (at inherent risk to themselved) oil to fuel YOUR home and YOUR car or public transport.
Was it international mens day when 255 blokes were killed via gunshots, explosions or hyperthermia so they could liberate the Falklands Islands and its British citizens from foreign aggression?
Was it international men's day when over 140 people (almost exclusively men) died between 2017-2018 at work? And why did they die? To maintain this countries essential infrustructure from defence to power generation to road maintenance for the benefit of ungrateful sods like you. Many on minimium wage.
Yeah maybe there is an International Men's Day but thats not really the point is it? Does it recieve a fraction of the attention or charitable contributions that its female equivalent? Do schools and employers announce it to their members and encourage them to work on male related issues?
But even thats not really the point. The point is society couldn't give a damn that statistically a bloke died this week for its sake, meanwhile a privileged, rich white women not been a director before 40 is some kind of crime against humanity.
Its a point about biases and societal attitudes towards men not some crappy shallow, symbolic day on the calender.
While your preaching to your lattees in your AC controlled offices, spare a thought about the bloke in the overalls with his severed arm running around inside of machinery or the soldiers with their bollocks blown off (literally) so people like you can enjoy their labour.
While feminists would love society to be gender segregated its not. Its class segregated and feminism is just an oppertunistic grab for upper and middle class women to jump on the 'poor me' bandwagon. In a capitalist society...class is and always has been the defining characteristic of privilage.
Want an example? The entire country has just celebrated a bunch of rich women been awarded the right to vote...wheres the special big brother edition for the non land owning men who were only granted the vote a decade before?
Centenary of universal suffrage will not be to 2028.
