This sounds like one of those threads that's designed to weed out people you might know.

On that basis, my grandfather was a circus performer and my grandmother was a witch.

Paternal grandparents were both in service. Maternal grandparents - GF worked in catering and GM worked in her grandmother's tailoring business.

Paternal Grandmother never formally worked but volunteered.

SoFancy · 04/03/2018 13:06

Maternal:
Grandad was a university professor
Granny was a factory worker then a SAHM and later worked part-time in a chemist when her DC had grown-up.

Paternal:
Grandad worked for the council as a maintenance man.
Gran was always a SAHM (she had 12 children, so fair enough! Grin)

ProfYaffle · 04/03/2018 13:07

Both Grandfathers worked in factories. Don't think maternal Grandmother ever worked. Paternal Grandmother did all sorts of bits and bobs, worked in a tannery, was an office cleaner in the evenings, owned a shop for a little while.

On DM’s side, Taid was a carpenter and Nain was a book-keeper, which she taught herself to do so she could work when DM and my aunts has started school.

On DF’s side, Granddad was a horse dealer mainly, but he did a fair few other things: miner, bricklayer, barman. Nan was a charlady, although she’d be called a cleaner now.
