To wear these knickers ?

This morning I have put on a pair of knickers that are 23 years old.Shock I know that because my boyfriends mum (at the time) bought them for me in 1995 for my birthday before I left to come to university. They just seem to have come with me everywhere and I just still have them in my drawer. Anyone got any older underwear/clothing still in regular use ?

Sounds like an excuse for a party!!

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2018 09:35

I have a short sleeved cardigan from a trip to the US in 1997. I don't wear it very often but could never get rid of it.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/02/2018 09:37

As long as they're clean.

weekfour · 20/02/2018 09:37

I would have a party to celebrate having an arse the same size as a teenager!

UpstartCrow · 20/02/2018 09:40

The only criteria I have for knickers is;

  1. are they clean
  2. are they comfy

I have an ancient, grubby sheepskin coat. It really doesnt suit me but I hate being cold more than I hate looking like a spiv.

Strange birthday present from your boyfriend's mum! I can see why that sticks in your mind. Confused

It depends on the state of them. If the elastic's all perished and they're now crotchless from wear and tear then probably best not to wear them.
You never know who might have to see your knickers today, a doctor after a rogue accident for example or your clothes get caught in a bus door and torn off, exposing the offending knickers.

BitOutOfPractice · 20/02/2018 09:45

I still wear a bra and pants set that I bought for my honeymoon in 1998. They lasted longer than the marriage Grin M&S knew how to make a sturdy pant in those days

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 20/02/2018 09:52

As long as they’ve been washed since 1995 then I don’t see the problem :o

DHs mum only ever seems to buy me too small pyjamas, too small knickers or socks that DO fit Confused she always goes for size 10/12 and I’m an 18.

Rosamund1 · 20/02/2018 09:56

I always just wear black knickers in cotton from Asda (cotton for the health of the foof Grin). If they fade or stretch or get a hole, or start to get string unravelling -straight in the bin.

You never know when you will find yourself in a Mills and Boon situation.

Loonoon · 20/02/2018 09:56

I still wear the pajamas my DH bought me when I was in hospital with DC1 who will be 27 this year. I have a sports bra older than that DC.

BasaForDinner · 20/02/2018 10:01

I wear my 2000 millennium knickers for running as they are so comfy.

Seeline · 20/02/2018 10:04

I still wear a cosy winter jumper that I definitely had at Poly. I left in 1989 so it's around 30 years old.

Redpriestandmozart · 20/02/2018 10:07

I was putting on old bed knickers last night and lamented there were at least 15 years old and definitely on their way out :(

MrsKoala · 20/02/2018 10:12

I requested that dh not wear a pair of boxers his ex from uni had bought him. He accused me of jealousy till i pointed out the undercarriage looked as tho it was made from string bag material and when we were out he had to keep retrieving parts of him which had escaped their confinement. He conceded. Grin

musicposy · 20/02/2018 10:14

I have a black jumper from Chelsea Girl (!) I wore in the sixth form in 1984 when monochromatic was the thing and my mother always despaired of me wearing a colour. It's a little tatty now to say the least but I still wear it on occasion, partly because it's become a bit of a legend with my mother -- a kind of refusal on my part to look grown up and respectable. Wink

By my calculations it's 34 years old (sob at how old I am), so you can definitely wear your knickers!

DarklyDreamingDexter · 20/02/2018 10:16

I'm currently wearing a kimono style dressing gown I bought in Thailand in 1996. It still looks exactly the same! (Recently saw a photo of me wearing it in 1997)

LakieLady · 20/02/2018 10:16

Sadly, none of my knickers from 23 years ago would cover my fat arse now.

I still wear a cardigan that I bought in the early 80s though. I just don't do it up any more.

StoatofDisarray · 20/02/2018 10:17

I have two pairs of my boyfriends woollen socks which I wear regularly. He owned them when he was 11 and had smaller feet. They are in perfect condition. He's 51 now.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 20/02/2018 10:18

the undercarriage looked as tho it was made of string bag material

That is possibly one of the most unappealing mental images ever MrsK Grin Balls trussed up in a string bag.

SluttyButty · 20/02/2018 10:20

God as long as they aren’t falling apart they’d still be worn here Grin
I have an old cardi that I bought from a charity shop, I wear it round the house (the person who originally bought it spent a lot on it), the collar is coming off so I put it on my sewing pile to mend it. Dd who is 18 was horrified and said it was old so I should bin it and buy a new one Shock I don’t think so sweetie, it’s got years left in it yet.

StoatofDisarray · 20/02/2018 10:21

I also have a black ribbed vest that I bought in 1983 and wore all the time. It's also in perfect nick, and I still wear it because it has a nice square neckline rather than the usual scoop.

Wixi · 20/02/2018 10:22

I have a t-shirt in my drawer that I wear regularly, one of the most comfortable, that my DM bought me when I was 17. Today is my 49th birthday :-)

MrsKoala · 20/02/2018 10:24

Yeah, it looked like raw haggis tied in butchers string. Mmmmm sexay.

I have clothes still from my late teens up till now. I haven't changed size, or style Blush so i still wear them. It's a pain tho because i have no real reason to buy anything new! I have loads of smart stuff from working which doubt i'll wear again. But it fits fine.

mikeyssister · 20/02/2018 10:26

I've a now holey tshirt from 1994 that I still wear very regularly
