Triangle cut sandwiches taste better than rectangle cut ones. gavel

They are scientifically proven* to be easier to eat as the pointy end is more mouth sized.
Vogue said they look better too**

*by me, testing many sandwiches whilst wearing a dressing gown lab coat

**maybe

They feel like they've got less crust. Complete illusion of course.

Fluffyears · 19/02/2018 11:09

I like rectangles, dp likes triangles. As long as they are tasty I don’t care too much.

CupOfJoe · 19/02/2018 11:11

May I ask why you prefer rectangles? I genuinely find them less appealing and I have no idea why Confused

Yep, all of my sandwiches & toast get cut into triangles.

Nope I lie, I prefer cheese & pickle sandwiches in normal rectangle sandwiches. No idea why Confused Smile

Lentilbaby · 19/02/2018 11:11

Rectangular sandwiches (as in thinly cut, crust off) always look super appealing when having a lovely afternoon tea.

ChessieFL · 19/02/2018 11:12

Rectangles are easier to wrap up and fit into a lunchbox.

SweetMoon · 19/02/2018 11:17

If someone asked me how I would like my sandwiches cut, I would request triangles. No idea why, I just think a triangular one is more appealing. I usually cut into triangles unless there is a reason not to. However, rectangle ones are just as yummy, especially if someone is making the sandwich for me!

SoupDragon · 19/02/2018 11:18

They have fewer crusty corners which is why I like triangles.

CobraKai · 19/02/2018 11:19

I'd walk out if I went to a buffet and they had rectangular sandwiches. It would look so rough Smile

APermanentlyExhaustedPigeon · 19/02/2018 11:20

I'm with SoupDragon on this, there's less corners to chew through!

73kittycat73 · 19/02/2018 11:21

Normally have rectangles but still sneak in the odd square. :P

GinUser · 19/02/2018 11:21

Not especially fussy about triangles or rectangles, although I think triangles look marginally better. However, the crusts must be cut off but, most importantly, the bread has to be good and the filling must be at least the same thickness as the bread, if not slightly thicker!

ZebraOwl · 19/02/2018 11:21

Triangles are infinitely preferable. --I
dislike crusts so much I actually buy the crustless bread. They failed to make my hair curl, so now I shall shun them forevermore. I'm mature like that.--

yes triangles are best, except in the case of chip butties: They should be rectangular. Always.

ZebraOwl · 19/02/2018 11:22

Dratted strikethrough fail...

oohyoudevilyou · 19/02/2018 11:24

Perendinate, you sound very high-maintenance....are you overly dainty in all aspects of life, or just lunch food? Smile

Triangles dry out faster. I associate triangles with badly catered work meetings

BigChocFrenzy · 19/02/2018 11:31

I cut sandwiches into halves at most < slattern >
and I only eat open sandwiches, not 2 layers of bread

Oh and I love the crusts, but I leave out most of the middle < food perv >

oohyoudevilyou · 19/02/2018 11:34

I associate triangles with badly catered work meetings. Cress is usually involved in the silver trays of dessicated sarnies at our place too. And this odd practice of opening several bags of crisps of different flaviours and PUTTING THEM ALL IN THE SAME BOWL!!! So taking one is like playing russian roulette, a couple of salt&vinegars then a roast chicken to get your confidence up, then bang...Prawn Cocktail when you're chatting to the VP so can't spit it out!

FairNotFair · 19/02/2018 11:41

YANBU, OP. Although I do have a fondness for crustless finger sandwiches. So decadent

ScreamingValenta · 19/02/2018 11:41

Savoury sandwiches - triangles
Sweet sandwiches - squares

UpstartCrow · 19/02/2018 11:42

Triangles are for parties. They are party sandwiches.

Clutterbugsmum · 19/02/2018 11:45

Depends on the sandwich filling.

If i'm having jam sandwiches they need the bread to be folded in half not cut.

Marmite ones in triangles and any other rectangle.
