If you said no, could you say why? And if possible, could you give examples- I know a couple of people have said that they think feminism has gone too far, and feminists think all men are rapists that sort of thing. If you think that, could you say why? What have you read, or listened to that brought you to that belief? No “tearing to shreds” I promise!

I got forced to play with dolls even though I hated them and thought they were dead boring. They were so fiddly and dull. I always preferred boys' toys, but after a certain age these were off limits and I just got things that were deemed suitable for housewives in training.

Moussemoose · 14/02/2018 14:36

I bloody hated dolls. What do you do with them?

Backenette · 14/02/2018 14:37

That’s terrible sally

Dolls can be for boys and girls but my point that pressuring a child into either playing with a toy they hate or denying them one they want because they are a boy or a girl is just ridiculous. And yes, In the case of your grandson, borderline abusive. Who on earth makes a child play with something they are scared of??

I’m firmly in ‘strong personal dislike of dolls’ camp by the way and also found them creepy and unpleasant as a child.

Datun · 14/02/2018 15:18

What do you do with them?

I know!

And yet my brother's action men were brilliant. They had Morse code kits, grenades that you could put the pin from.

You could make them do stuff. And their limbs and hands and feet were all articulated.

SmileEachDay · 14/02/2018 21:04

I had an action man and a Sindy.

They were both secret agents because AM had great accessories for killing and S had several pairs of sunglasses 😂😂😂

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 14/02/2018 21:28

I had a bionic man

Thats not a stealth boast

Just a fact

Moussemoose · 14/02/2018 21:37

Was it the bionic man who had the movable eyes?

SmileEachDay · 14/02/2018 21:38

Action Man had moveable eyes Mousse.

He had a little lever in his buzz cut.

Pumperthepumper · 14/02/2018 21:48

I had a Sindy with moveable eyes! She had a big switch on the back of her head. Magnificent.

My brother had a fishing rod that I was NOT ALLOWED to touch and I would have moved heaven and earth for.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 14/02/2018 21:51

You are all obviously too young

SmileEachDay · 14/02/2018 21:55

No, Rufus I am old like you but I was satisfied with my AM with his ~creepy~ movey eyes.

I had no use for a bionic man.

Pshaw.

GrannyHeadology · 14/02/2018 21:57

I used to be anti feminist, I grew up believing in equality and that we did live in an equal society and the militant man-hating feminists massively put me off.

But then when I was 16 my career advice was go your A Levels pick a uni with a good medical unit or engineering unit and by the time you graduate you’ll have found your husband and you can settle down and have a couple of kids. That was 2001. Since then I have witnessed the gender divide at work and even currently I am discriminated at work. I still see myself as an ‘equalist’ but also as a feminist now

Moussemoose · 14/02/2018 21:58

That's right AM had movable eyes, the Bionic man had a bionic arm and Sindy had......titsConfused

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 14/02/2018 22:02

Lifting an actual car engine

Errrm let me think which was better

Errm...

SmileEachDay · 14/02/2018 22:08

Eww.

BM: Just hold your fire everyone whilst I roll my skin back.
Everyone: Confused
AM:

Uh huh, Rufus? I rest my case.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 14/02/2018 22:10

Yeah

But AM could only see from one side to the other

BM could see for huge distances

Mic drop

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 14/02/2018 22:11

Dh just said that AM had no todger

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 14/02/2018 22:12

Wait Shock

SmileEachDay · 14/02/2018 22:19

AM had an entirely blank genital area.

Did BM have a bionic penis?

Thymeout · 14/02/2018 22:20

I made some casual off-duty gear for my son's action man. A polo-neck sweater, cord jeans and a suede waistcoat. It was the 70's. He looked incredibly gay. Even without the waistcoat. Something to do with his articulated wrists?

PositivelyPERF · 14/02/2018 22:21

My brother had Evil Knievil on a motorcycle. 😍 I had a fucking pram and was told I was silly wanting to play with a motorcycle because I was a girl. 😠

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 14/02/2018 22:25

Did BM have a bionic penis?

Errrr

Yessss

(He was certainly popular with the ladies)

positively my brother had evil knevil as well

And his caravan which was awesome...bionic man used to borrow it all the time...for the ladies Wink

SmileEachDay · 14/02/2018 22:34

AM did ok with the ladies.

Well. Sort of. I mean, Sindy used to let him cook in her house.

But the DOLL BM. Blank genitals, yes?

C’mon Rufus admit it...
