No need to go further into your reasoning if you don't want to but this has always a been curious issue to me and came up today with one of my colleagues. She is a feminist by how she described her beliefs but doesn't actually adopt the term.

Why cant we just believe and fight for equality? Whats the purpose of the label appart from printing it on mugs and tshirts?

Rollonweekend · 09/02/2018 23:14

Yes

Interested in hearing from the ‘no’ responses and why they don’t agree that women should have equal rights to men.

Yes. It's pretty stupid to say "I'm not a feminist, because some feminists are/believe x, y or z". Any large group you might belong to is going to have a range of opinions, not all of which you have to agree with to classify as part of the group.

Rollonweekend · 09/02/2018 23:23

WTAF So because I believe that a) equality for women has in some ways gone too far (but in some ways has a long way to go)

This is a contradiction - do you feel equality has gone too far or thatbit has some way to go?

b) I believe that in the quest for equality that men are now seen as less than by alot of women

Can you provide examples? Looking at the pay gap for instance. How are men categorised as idiots by women seeking to achieve equality at work.

and c) that trans ARE women

I agree that trans women are not women

d) that a woman does NOT have the moral right to get pregnant 3 times in a year, terminate all 3 of those pregnancies and then actively try for a baby just 2 months after the 3rd termination, amoung other things I am now not only an idiot but a racist too?*

Women should have the right to decide on an abortion because it is their body and their live and women have died in countries that don’t allow it which is a horrible abuse of their human rights.

virtualreality · 09/02/2018 23:23

Women are being totalled as we speak.

Self ID trans women have much more power under the laws than we do.

Where is Feminism? What are your views on trans invading your spaces etc. It has to be asked.

ElliePhillips · 09/02/2018 23:26

Yes.

LadyLannister · 09/02/2018 23:27

Peggy - I get what your saying, and I think feminism started off as something that I agree with, but it has evolved to an extent that I don't feel comfortable associating with. I don't think mumsnet has done the cause any favours because there is a very vocal ( and almost militant ) brand of feminism on here which derides men at any given opportunity, and largely that is what has put me off. Of course I agree with equality for all, I just don't think that is entirely what feminism is about any more.
