Bengal has scratched DD friend

Long story short my DS had a few friends over at weekend and one of them pulled my 1 year old Bengal's tail and she too took a little swipe at them. I had to pretend I was less annoyed than I was (as you always do with kids that aren't yours) but just checked they weren't hurt and thought nothing more of it. Today I have had said parents very annoyed on the phone demanding this was unacceptable and they wanted to report it, I was clearly very annoyed aswell and it got a bit heated from there.

I don't think I am but AIBU ? All the kids were clearly told to leave Annie (Bengal) alone and I didn't overreact when they didn't. Can't help that feel this is generation snowflake when things like this happen no injuries occured.

ignore, and tell them to teach their kid not to pull on cats tails.

DollyPartonsBeard · 06/02/2018 19:21

Report to whom, exactly? Hmm

saladdays66 · 06/02/2018 19:22

How old are the kids?

If they're old enough to listen and understand when you said keep away from the cat, but they ignored you, then tough.

Who does the mum want to report your cat to? the police? Hmm

Haggisfish · 06/02/2018 19:22

Yanbu.

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 06/02/2018 19:22

YABU for using the term 'generation snowflake'.

expatinscotland · 06/02/2018 19:23

'Today I have had said parents very annoyed on the phone demanding this was unacceptable and they wanted to report it, '

Report it to whom? I'd have told them to go and sling their hook.

purpleme12 · 06/02/2018 19:23

Oh they're in the wrong not you. If a child doesn't listen and doesn't treat a cat well of course he's going to communicate in the way that he can. Then the child will hopefully learn for the future.

FluffyWuffy100 · 06/02/2018 19:23

Ignore them. And don’t invite their child over again, the parents are clearly bat shit.

Crispbutty · 06/02/2018 19:24

Report what? It was a pet cat not a tiger! Tell them to teach their kid to have respect for animals.

polkadotdelight · 06/02/2018 19:24

My 3 year old learnt very quickly not to harass one of our cats, he got scratched more than once as soon as he was mobile enough to go after him. It's a good life lesson not to pull tails!

twilightcafe · 06/02/2018 19:24

YANBU. Child was told to leave cat alone.

Bambamber · 06/02/2018 19:25

YANBU

Child pulled cats tail, child got scratched. What exactly did they expect? Might make the kid think twice about pulling a cats tail in the future

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/02/2018 19:25

I think we need to know the ages?

If they were older than about 2 then YANBU and should report their offspring ofr animal cruelty....

NoMoreUsernames · 06/02/2018 19:27

Report to who? Snowflake indeed. My cat has scratched a couple of ds's friends. They were warned not to annoy her, they did anyway and got scratched as a result. They, however were just pushing their luck, if they'd intentionally hurt her no chance would I have been polite about it, they'd have felt the full wrath. Thankfully they have normal parents who's reaction was to bollock them for annoying the cat.

Thesmallthings · 06/02/2018 19:27

Please tell me they told you who there where going to report it to?

pilates · 06/02/2018 19:27

YANBU

RefuseTheLies · 06/02/2018 19:27

I can’t wait to hear about this report they want to make.

LastNightMyWifeHooveredMyHead · 06/02/2018 19:29

Bengal cat - laugh at them; Bengal tiger - they might have a point Grin

Perhaps they think cats that scratch children are treated like dogs that bite children?

ditzychick34 · 06/02/2018 19:29

WTF! Tell them to jog on! She pulled your cats tail, she deserved to get scratched

butterfly56 · 06/02/2018 19:31

Yep pull a cat's tail and it will not be happy...probably need to put up a big poster for next time!... Beware the Bengal...pull her tail at your own risk! You have been warned!!

NotACleverName · 06/02/2018 19:31

Who are they going to report it to exactly, the cat police? The child learned a very important lesson; don't mess about with cats.

HolyShet · 06/02/2018 19:33

they are ridiculous

toolonglurking · 06/02/2018 19:33

Totally them bu, poor cat! But I'm interested to know how old the children involved are?

Redact · 06/02/2018 19:34

YANBU They are! It's a cat, pull it's tail at your peril! Not sure who they are reporting it to or what response they expect.

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 06/02/2018 19:34

Who are they going to report Annie to? The PAWlice?
