Pissed off with reaction to present?

Bought friend birthday present. She opened it and literally looked at it in disgust and just muttered thanks and shoved it back in the bag.

Genuinely thought I’d bought her something she would like - obviously not. Which is fine and you can’t help what you like or dislike but surely most people would at least pretend to like it?

It’s annoyed me so much that I’ve text her to apologise. Aibu?

Why on earth have you apologised?

You genuinely thought she would like it. In which way did you go wrong?

SpoonfulOfJam · 03/02/2018 18:38

What was it?

ManyFloralBlouses · 03/02/2018 18:38

Strange reaction what was it?! Sure you’ve not regulated by mistake something she’s got you before

RupertsMum2 · 03/02/2018 18:39

She was very rude.

pinkyredrose · 03/02/2018 18:39

What did you get her?

Amatree · 03/02/2018 18:39

You shouldn't have apologised-unless it was something weird or insensitive she was extremely rude. I'd be asking her if there was a problem with the present as I'd noticed she looked less than pleased, but only to make sure she knew how rude she's been. There would be no apology from me.

Unless you bought her something of exceptional poor taste or very insensitive, she is beyond rude. I am not sure about texting her about it, I would have just left it there, or said something at the time. I would just not buy her anything ever again.

Nixen · 03/02/2018 18:40

What on earth could you give someone to warrant that reaction?! How rude of her

InsomniacAnonymous · 03/02/2018 18:41

Unbelievably rude! Shock Even a child knows better not to do something like that!

LoveB · 03/02/2018 18:41

What was it?! Has she replied?

ShimmeringBollox · 03/02/2018 18:41

Was it a FUCK phone case?

monkeywithacowface · 03/02/2018 18:44

Really want to know what it was! Not that it should make a difference she was rude. I have a friend who has "interesting" tastes in gifts. Other than an enthused thank you and a hug there is no other response to a gift

Singlikemiranda · 03/02/2018 18:45

Was it a Nick Knowles CD?

Did you text her to send your apologies, or did you text her to ask her to apologise?

TacoFlavouredKisses · 03/02/2018 18:46

PLEASE let it be a Nick Knowles CD Grin

Bramble71 · 03/02/2018 18:47

I'd have texted her asking her to apologise, or at least tell you what was so wrong she behaved like a child. YNBU.

Idontdowindows · 03/02/2018 18:48

I hope you texted her to tell her she needed to apologise!

LaurieFairyCake · 03/02/2018 18:48

Unless it was a dildo modelled on Harvey Weinsteins cock then surely you’ve nothing to apologise for Confused

gamerwidow · 03/02/2018 18:49

Did you buy her a gym membership after telling her she was a bit porky or something similarly insensitive otherwise I’m she’s being very rude

babyccinoo · 03/02/2018 18:53

You apologised to her for her being an ungrateful twat?

RebootYourEngine · 03/02/2018 18:57

Why did you apologise?

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 03/02/2018 19:03

Fuck apologising to her, she's rude.

Originalfoogirl · 03/02/2018 19:03

What did you do after you gave it to her and she reacted that way? Why wouldn’t you ask her if there was a problem with it?
