To think young sheldon will give many people the rage

He can be irritating as an adult in Big Bang theory but the of a show based around him as a kid has made me blink.

I cannot see it being funny. I can really see it being very ragey with a precocious child.

I would also probably feel cross that he wasn't offered the help he needed as a child.

yes I'm aware it's just a program and I don't have to watch it. It's my irrational rant of the dayGrin

Rather scratch my own eyes out Grin

NeilPetark · 29/01/2018 11:06

Saw the ad for it and thought it looked shit. Love Big Bang though.

Rebeccaslicker · 29/01/2018 11:06

Wait - this is a thing?

How is this a thing??!

ijustwannadance · 29/01/2018 11:06

Going only by the adverts for it, it just doesn't look that funny.

Soubriquet · 29/01/2018 11:07

Yep it's a thing

Coming soon to E4

One of the bits is where Sheldon points out his female teacher has a moustache.

I will watch it and see, if it comes out Blossom Like it'll be good. Loved Blossom and Boy Meets World etc

YerAuntFanny · 29/01/2018 11:09

DS and i have been waiting 6 months for it, I hope it doesn't piss me off :o

Sheldon interests me, from what I've seen of young Sheldon he is very much like my son and I fully expect similar from him as an adult...

Titsywoo · 29/01/2018 11:11

Why do you say precocious?

If they are definitely saying he is autistic it should be interesting to see. There seem to be a lot of shows about autism at the moment. The only one I really liked is Atypical on Netflix.

It's not a horrible show. Fairly entertaining. His dynamic with the rest of his family, especially with his MeeMaw is good. That being said, much like Big Bang, I only watch it when we've finished watching all the good shows.

Sparklingbrook · 29/01/2018 11:14

I really want to see it, I like Sheldon's character, I am willing to give it a watch then decide.

Fauxgina · 29/01/2018 11:17

I saw a trailer for it and was really irritated. Young Sheldon is just adult Sheldon in a child's body with adult viewpoints - there was so much "acceptance" from him. In reality you would expect a child to have lots of tantrums and very difficult behaviour.

VladmirsPoutine · 29/01/2018 11:28

I think it will depend on how they narrate his autism. If used to point and laugh then it will be awful. I also think adult Sheldon does the autistic community a huge disservice. Most autistic individuals aren't necessarily like Sheldon and it fails to present the condition in a fair manner in my view. I happen to think child Sheldon will indeed be a precocious twat. In short YANBU.

crazycatgal · 29/01/2018 11:29

The writers have never actually said that Sheldon has autism have they?

CrazyExIngenue · 29/01/2018 11:30

Sheldon has never been diagnosed with autism. In fact the writers purposely don't label him.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 29/01/2018 11:31

I’ve seen it on YouTube. Really enjoyed and can relate to some situations as been in them with ds6

Soubriquet · 29/01/2018 11:32

No. The writers have said that Sheldon does not have any autism but the person who plays Sheldon, states he does use aspergers behaviour for the character

They say precocious as when you say ‘gifted’ in uk people get the rage. Plus ‘gifted’ ain’t a gift.

Queeniebed · 29/01/2018 11:34

Ive watched it and found it endearing and funny

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 29/01/2018 11:34

Btw I hate atypical on Netflix. I was that sister when I was growing up with my autistic brother (although he was low functioning autism)

WickedLazy · 29/01/2018 11:35

His mother had him tested, but later regretted not taking him to a specialist.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 29/01/2018 11:38

Tbh PG (profoundly gifted) and HFA (high functioning autism) have some much crossover it can be hard to separate them.

grannytomine · 29/01/2018 11:39

One of the bits is where Sheldon points out his female teacher has a moustache. I knew someone who did this, it didn't go down well and made me realise that the adults are also vulnerable. The woman concerned kept it together but got very upset later.

He's not nasty in Young Sheldon at all, he comes off as quite innocent, just irritating at times because he doesn't understand social clues and doesn't have issues with correcting people.
