Define slut.

Well I wouldn't call him a slut as men aren't offended by that and I've never heard anyone refer to a man as a slut IRL

So you’d call a woman “slut” because you know it offends?

DioneTheDiabolist · 28/01/2018 12:41

I believe the modern male equivalent is now Fuck Boi.

CupcakeWithIcing · 28/01/2018 12:41

It was a word used to belittle women who were seen (by men) as too promiscuous.

It is now a word that women have taken back and you can use slut as a compliment. E.g 'wow you look like a slut' 'Oh thanks, my slutty dress has pockets' Grin

So the word can still be hurled around but means absolutely nothing. It says more about the person who said it than the person it's said about.

E.g if a man calls a woman a slut. Mentally healthy people know that the man is just a cunt and the woman is amazing.

Blackteadrinker77 · 28/01/2018 12:42

One of those words to keep woman down and in there place.

Men get a pat on the back, woman are made to feel a lower class.

They are just as entitled as men to have consenting sex with any one they choose too. We will never get equality whilst we still judge woman with words like that.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 28/01/2018 12:42

Slut or Slattern-woman who has had enough of the lazy arsed men in her life not being capable of doing any housework and is sitting drinking coffee whilst answering gfs on mumsnet. I wear the badge with pride.
The other meaning? Someone you judge for having sex you don't approve of.

isseywithcats · 28/01/2018 12:43

Bizarrely, according to one man I briefly dated, a 'slut' is a girl who doesn't sleep with him. Like me. Well rid.

PerfectlyDone · 28/01/2018 12:51

A 'slut' is someone (typically a woman) who has more sex, or even is just more flirtatious, than the person calling her a slut.

Sluttiness is in the eye of the beholder, but IMO says more about the person using the word than the person it being used about.

I am an out and proud slattern btw Grin

Blackteadrinker77 · 28/01/2018 12:52

Used as a derogatory term by men

I sadly find it is used in a derogatory way by both men and woman.

ThisLittleKitty · 28/01/2018 12:52

Well I don't know any man who would be offended by being called a slut.

ADishBestEatenCold · 28/01/2018 12:53

Has someone called you this, IsThisMeToo?

If so, they are wrong. Not only wrong, but also (at very best) very misguided and need educated OR (further down the line) a nasty vicious-minded person who doesn't deserve a moment of your time.

Hope you are okay, if something like this prompted your post.

Bluedoglead · 28/01/2018 12:53

Where the fuck are MNHQ?

JacquesHammer · 28/01/2018 12:54

@ThisLittleKitty you’re missing the point. You’re choosing langauge to deliberately offend other women?

ThisLittleKitty · 28/01/2018 12:55

And? I have no issues with offending women who sleep with peoples partners. The man is a bastard or a dog but no I wouldn't use the term slut.

Blackteadrinker77 · 28/01/2018 13:02

Someone who sleeps with other peoples bf/husbands than yes I think that's a slut

The husband or boyfriend promised they'd be faithful yet it's the woman who promised nothing who is a slut?

JacquesHammer · 28/01/2018 13:02

Sluttiness is in the eye of the beholder, but IMO says more about the person using the word than the person it being used about

^^ great point

IsThisMeToo · 28/01/2018 13:04

Hi,

No, but I have been haunted by something that happened a decade ago.

OP posts:
JacquesHammer · 28/01/2018 13:10

@IsThisMeToo

If you “made out” with someone the first time you met them then you’re not a slut. You were (I presume) a consenting adult who made a perfectly valid choice.

If you were coerced in anyway then you’re still not “a slut” but you could be a victim of sexual assault.

Either way if you’re still having trouble getting over something that happened 10 years ago, it could be worth you speaking to someone about it.

Hope you’re ok.

Blackteadrinker77 · 28/01/2018 13:16

@isthismetoo

If it was consensual then it was not wrong.

heateallthebuns · 28/01/2018 13:19

Black tea, the husband who promised would be a selfish bastard or dickhead (etc). Two wrongs don't make a right.

Fuckyrhobnobs · 28/01/2018 13:21

Someone who only washes their net curtains every other Monday

IsThisMeToo · 28/01/2018 13:21

Yeah but then it happened several times after and yes it was consensual from second time onwards and we were both single. But I can’t help but think that maybe the guy did not take me seriously because of that.

It was the only time in my life wherein I was that reckless.

Me, according to my mum after she read the diary I forgot when I went back to Uni after a weekend break at home. Sad

Lettucepray · 28/01/2018 13:27
