It's dds friends birthday tomorrow and she has just decided she wants to take her in some chocolate as a gift, only dd has sen and isn't very observant to what she normally has!

I know you have to stay away from certain foods and about Halal but we aren't sure what is okay and what is not.

Are things like normal dairy milk bar or those boxes of little dairy milk chocolates OK?
Can you suggest anything else please that will be OK that I can buy on a Sunday locally please.

Do check any sweets for gelatine as it comes from either pigs (clearly not halal) or cows (probably not slaughtered in the required fashion.

If it's vegetarian and alcohol free you're fine

Actually, some chocolate has animal fat in, therefore it cannot be eaten by Muslims who follow a halal diet.

It can have animal contents in that's why I'm asking.

Basically no meat products ( as could be pork or non-halal certified) so nothing with gelatin and no alcohol.
If it's vegetarian it should be OK, but there is a possibility that alcohol based sanitisers are used in the factory.
If you took a selection of nice fruit, that would be fine.

Chocolate has lard in it? I dont think so - cakes are fine, gelatine is (mostly) not!

M&S Veggie Percy pigs are ok but horribly sweet. You can get halal/kosher sweeties from a lot of supermarkets these days. I avoid gelatine anyway (nasty stuff). An ordinary chocolate bar should be absolutely fine though.

Perhaps go with anything that says,'suitable for vegetarians'.

DD1 used to be friends with a girl from a very strict Muslim family, and they all used to eat Mars Celebrations by the tub load- so I'd say they were fine.

Dairy milk is fine as long as the chocolate doesn't contain animal fat etc you are fine. My treat is a flake on a Saturday 😊

The vast majority of chocolate is suitable for vegetarians. Only things like chocolate mousse or jelly sweets may contain gelatine
