Boss blanked me. Upset

icenasliceplease · 19/01/2018 21:49

Ok. So went out to a pub tonight for a drink.
In walks my 'current' boss. She sees me I know she does does an about turn and completely blanks me (turns her back to me)
Am I BU to be upset?
what drives people like this?
I would never be this rude. Probably explains why I will never be a 'Boss'

I won't lie. It did throw me a bit. Sad

Unnecessary and rude. YANBU

Rainboho · 19/01/2018 21:51

YABU she doesn’t want to socialise with you.

minisoksmakehardwork · 19/01/2018 21:52

Yanbu. A polite head nod/wave just to acknowledge is fine. No need to be sipping away and trying to make small talk when neither of you want to.

Maybe it says more about her than you.

icenasliceplease · 19/01/2018 21:52

After how she behaved, I definitely wouldn't want to socialize with her.
She showed her true colors.

Maybe there to meet someone she'd rather work colleagues didn't know about? Our maybe she couldn't face any work talk for done reason

Is she generally ok in work? If so, I'd say it's probably not personal and just forget it.

hahahaIdontgetit · 19/01/2018 21:52

Are you absolutely sure she saw you?

I wear contact lenses for work, but don't when I'm going out. I wouldn't be able to see someone's features clearly across a room. (A few metres away).

Ethylred · 19/01/2018 21:54

Why 'current' boss?
Why the inverted commas?
Enquiring minds want to know.

icenasliceplease · 19/01/2018 21:54

I'm pretty sure she saw me.
She does have form for favoritism.

OP posts:
icenasliceplease · 19/01/2018 21:55

Why current boss?
She is my boss. As of now.

OP posts:
uncoolnn · 19/01/2018 21:55

I wouldn't expect her to make small talk outside of work necessarily but I do think it's rude to not even acknowledge you. That's just basic manners surely?

icenasliceplease · 19/01/2018 21:57

I must admit, I am probably fairly low down on her food chain.
Hence the snotty ignorance.

OP posts:
LurkingQuietly · 19/01/2018 21:57

She dealt with it badly but could there be an element of her thinking you wouldn't want your boss there when you were trying to unwind? As a boss myself I've definitely tried to be empathetic to the fact my team were unlikely to really relax with me there no matter how well we got on.

icenasliceplease · 19/01/2018 21:58

I wouldn't expect her to make small talk outside of work necessarily

Really?
It was a pub.
Would it have killed her to say Hello?
I tried to catch her eye, but to no avail.

OP posts:
Reddlion · 19/01/2018 21:59

rude for no reason

Theresnonamesleft · 19/01/2018 22:00

Are you there with work colleagues?
Is she talking to them?
When you say she’s now your boss is one of you New?

MyKingdomForACaramel · 19/01/2018 22:00

Ridiculously rude - yanbu.

icenasliceplease · 19/01/2018 22:02

I don't care really. Says more about her really.

OP posts:
Ethylred · 19/01/2018 22:02

No, not why current, why the inverted commas.

icenasliceplease · 19/01/2018 22:03

Inverted commas are because she is my boss at this moment.

OP posts:
FrostyThirties0 · 19/01/2018 22:06

OP doesn’t know

Believeitornot · 19/01/2018 22:09

Maybe she didn’t actually see you.

Maybe she did see you and turned away quickly hoping you didn’t see her. Maybe she feels guilty but maybe she’s had enough of work!

Who knows. Better to think the best of people that the worst.

Thinkingofausername1 · 19/01/2018 22:10

She might be like my dh and not want to socialise outside work. But absolutely no excuse not to say hello.

Withhindsight · 19/01/2018 22:11

Is she having an affair with one of your colleagues and about to meet them?

icenasliceplease · 19/01/2018 22:12

in the grand scheme of things I don't give a shit.
But I can't help thinking that in the land of Real, what makes an egotistical {boss} person get to such a stage that they think it's OK to be rude to someone.
Ignoring is rude.

OP posts:
ifcatscouldtalk · 19/01/2018 22:13

If she definitely saw you then it's rude to not even smile or say a quick hello. Personally I'd pretend it never happened, I wouldn't mention it. Also although not nice it's not worth being upset about.
