Link to previous thread.

Landlord ended up getting involved in November. Council and RSPCA couldn’t do anything. Things were quiet for the whole of December...threats from Landlord plus being at home for Christmas.

Week one of life being back to normal after the holidays and bang! 10am til present. Dog locked in bathroom, barking EVERY SINGLE SECOND.

First day off after a busy week back at home...I just want some peace!!

who does that to a dog. yanbu OP, what a headache and a horrid situation for the poor dog and you

outgrown · 06/01/2018 13:19

Today he’s locked in the bedroom which is even noisier and I am wondering what the chances are of them putting water in there for him...

Does the dog ever escpae any more?

If so, tbh I'd be driving it to the other end of the country and taking it to a refuge!

Thymeout · 06/01/2018 13:30

My next door neighbours' tenants locked their husky in the bathroom every day they were at work. It eventually gnawed a hole through the door. I'd try the landlord again.

outgrown · 06/01/2018 13:37

It’s a letting agent so I need to wait until Monday.

He never seems to go in the garden like he used to so no escapism for a long time.

I’m just so fucking pissed off.

OP posts:
JaneEyre70 · 06/01/2018 13:39

That's horrific OP. And even worse that the RSPCA thinks that is acceptable........................

WeeM · 06/01/2018 13:43

I can’t believe the rspca won’t do anything, that’s just awful! Poor wee dog Sad

outgrown · 06/01/2018 13:44

It has to be over 24 hours unless there is evidence of neglect such as no water.

OP posts:
esk1mo · 06/01/2018 13:44

my neighbour does similar. the dog barks ALL night so i can only assume they arent home or are locking it in a different room.

sometimes it barks all day aswell. ive logged it with 101 when it barked from 10pm-3am constantly, and also emailed the council. nothings changed yet.

i really want to just put a note under their door saying STFU. they never walk the poor thing either and are in a top floor flat, i hate how the sspca just dont care.

Thymeout · 06/01/2018 13:44

Fizzy I know of someone who did this to a cat which was terrorising the neighbourhood. His victims racked up massive vets' bills and suffered nervous breakdowns. He drove him to a refuge three counties away. Peace broke out and everyone, even his owner, I think, breathed a sigh of relief. Unfortunately, he turned out to be chipped and was returned home within a fortnight.

Arkangel · 06/01/2018 13:46

Can you abduct the dog and drop him at a rescue centre?

outgrown · 06/01/2018 13:46

Dog is always locked in the house. Not sure that would be entirely legal...

Never see it walked either.

OP posts:
Arkangel · 06/01/2018 14:03

Break a window? There's a lot of dog thefts going on recently, just say you saw a van?

The rspca are bloody useless.

FartsMeanHearts · 06/01/2018 14:06

The poor dog 😓

ivykaty44 · 06/01/2018 14:07

Check land registry to see who owns the property - costs £3 on official website

Then look them up and get phone number? Then call them and ask why you should have to put up with this behaviour

milliemolliemou · 06/01/2018 14:47

Keep recordings on your phone with time and date stamp. You don't have to do it all four hours ... just beginning, two middles and as late (or early) as you can go.

Have you spoken to your neighbours again?
Write down a list of events so far.

Speak to the lettings agent and preferably email them after your conversation saying what you and they said.
Go to the council. Go back to the RSPCA.

If you're really prepared to escalate and go NC with your neighbours for yours and their dog's sake, go to your local newspaper or radio station. With the recordings.
Good luck. Poor dog. Poor you.

MavisPike · 06/01/2018 14:58

please keep pushing this for the sake of this poor animal

outgrown · 06/01/2018 14:58

The council told me quite clearly that they had no recording equipment at present and they were aware of the situation and didn’t need me ringing. They would contact me if they had recording equipment become available.

RSPCA just said if it continues to call back, no risk to dog evident at present.

Will call letting agent on Monday.

Neighbours do not respond, in fact, I think I’m invisible. Whether I’m telling them their dog is a shit, asking them to stop blocking my drive, asking them to stop throwing stones at my house, collecting my parcel from them...

OP posts:
outgrown · 06/01/2018 20:29

They came home at 6. Didn’t even blink at everyone stopping them to tell them they heard the dog all day. Not a single response.

Just read your previous thread- you have my deepest sympathies OP because my parents went through similar.

They live in a row of terraces and the house to their left has 4 dogs in it. Owner lives on her own and seems to work various shifts

Parents started by going over and knocking and ask if there was anything they could do to help- and we're told to fuck off. Council wouldn't help, RSPCA did come out to visit as one of the dogs appeared to be malnourished but nothing came of it.

Eventually they got hold of the landlord who told them to keep recordings. Landlord visited the property many times and nothing seemed to happen. After 18 months it went to court and then was put off for 3 months to go to trial but eventually the court decided in my parents favour and told the tenant he needed to remove the animals- but he didn't, and was eventually evicted 4 months later.

You need to persist with this. I can 100% understand how you feel as my parents nearly came close to selling their house over It!

K1092902 · 06/01/2018 20:39

You don't need recording equipment. Buy a dictapphone off eBay for a couple of quid or download an app on your phone.

outgrown · 06/01/2018 21:49

That’s what the council need if they want to take action. I suggested doing it myself and they said it was pointless as there was nothing to prove it’s here etc. Needs to be official.

Angry this is still going on and Sad for the dog.

(My NDN dogs are still doing my head in, not to the same degree that your NDN dog is. My hands are itching to wring their collective necks )

I would be sooo tempted to download a recording of a very noisy dog barking, put the speaker against the wall (not the bathroom, not fair on the dog) and let it play on repeat loop, go out for the day.

If they say anything, feign surprise and deny all knowledge.

But I'm a mean bugger in my own head if not IRL.

HoochiMama · 06/01/2018 22:31

Do you have home insurance with legal cover? If so would be worth contacting them for advice. I had a similar issue with NDNs dog, nowhere near as bad as yours so my heart goes out to you. Council were quite good in end but had to keep on at them and neighbour did cooperate once she was told dog could be taken away. I did get legal advice through home insurance and they were going to help if council didn't.
You can take neighbours to court yourself but helps to have legal support.

No way should they still have that dog, it's an offence to let it bark for more than half an hour. Also there have been cases of people being prosecuted with no sound even recorded apparently ( but prob not through council) Plus if dog is barking during day can't the dog warden should come round and witness it barking rather than have to wait to have it recorded?

I feel so sorry for you it's torture!

Bourdic · 06/01/2018 22:54

God I feel for you. Have you tried your local councillor? Get his phone number, ring him every single day to complain about the dog, including weekends, evenings (late) also chair of relevant committee.Local paper? When I rule the world all dogs except assistance dogs will be destroyed along with their owners.
