Link to previous thread.

Landlord ended up getting involved in November. Council and RSPCA couldn’t do anything. Things were quiet for the whole of December...threats from Landlord plus being at home for Christmas.

Week one of life being back to normal after the holidays and bang! 10am til present. Dog locked in bathroom, barking EVERY SINGLE SECOND.

First day off after a busy week back at home...I just want some peace!!

Oh councillor is a good idea!

I hope you can get this sorted OP. I feel sorry for you and the dog.

It's been interesting reading about how many people have problems with their NDN dogs. I hope my neighbours don't have any issues with my dogs.

HicDraconis · 06/01/2018 23:56

@Bourdic that’s a little harsh don’t you think?

I’m not sure I deserve to be destroyed any more than my two well behaved non barking non jumping dogs. Don’t tar all dogs and owners with the same brush as OPs NDN whole quite clearly shouldn’t have a dog in the first place.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/01/2018 00:15

meand ..... I appreciate that dogs bark (mostly they have reason to bark to be fair) . Since I have lived in my house (and I don't own a dog) my NDNs on both sides have had dogs.

Other NDN dog used to bound out into the garden and do one "Woof" like a someone is out there.....oh its her next door..Hello sort of woof.

Previously , NDN had 4 dogs , all ages , no noise from them except when the man came home and swept them all out for a walk (he took them out am/pm )

Current NDN dogs bark at all times sometimes a few minutes , sometimes 90 minutes. Sometimes 6am, sometimes 3am Angry

I am at work most days so don't have to endure it too much.

They've been in my garden , other NDN garden.

As a responsible owner (which I'm hoping/guessing you are) your NDN will see that some canine noise is part and parcel of living in a residential street.
But , yes, it goes waaaay beyond for some of us.

(And no , I don't want to kidnap and keep NDN dogs any more than I want to harm them. I just want them to STFU and their owners to , I don't know, maybe walk and stimulate them)

Post leaflets forndiggy daycare or local dog walkers through her letterbox

GreenTulips · 07/01/2018 00:20

For doggy daycare

Bourdic · 07/01/2018 07:53

Hic oh come on, I was rather exaggerating but honestly unless this constant barking has been experienced by you, you have NO idea how truly truly awful it is. It's an absolute disgrace that the law is so week. In fact it's useless in most cases. There should be a law that this dog can be taken away permanently and the owner fined and banned from ever having a dog again.

Cambionome · 07/01/2018 09:05

Completely agree with you, Bourdic. Sad

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 07/01/2018 09:20

Have you complained to the council about the delay in providing noise monitoring equipment? You can then pursue your complaint to the ombudsman and may at least get a little compensation for your trouble.

MrMeSeeks · 07/01/2018 10:53

Its disgustig that this poor dog is being left like this Sad

JediStoleMyBike · 07/01/2018 11:02

How sad for the poor dog, that's no life at all.

Have you logged the hours that the dog is barking for somewhere? We were told to keep a journal when we were compiling evidence for a noise complaint previously with recordings to prove how loud the noise could be heard from our property.

outgrown · 07/01/2018 11:17

I’ve kept a journal throughout. I did actually think it had stopped but looking back I see it’s just a combination of my Christmas activities and their annual leave etc that made it seem like it had stopped. Now things are back to normal it’s clear this is back to “normal” too.

They went out about an hour ago. Dog is at their bedroom window, which is open. He’s stood on the windowsill trying to climb up the window. Hasn’t taken a breath, just bark bark bark every single second.

OP posts:
ForalltheSaints · 07/01/2018 11:28

What do other neighbours think? Would the police take action if you were to break in and release the dog?

ForalltheSaints · 07/01/2018 11:29

And film the dog- post it on a social networking site with a message to the RSPCA or council.

Bourdic · 07/01/2018 11:48

I mentioned contacting your local councillor and the chair of the relevant committee.Have you done this? You might be pleasantly surprised - some councillors really do care and would certainly care about negative publicity if you tried them and they did nothing. You can't go on like this -you are human being and deserve better. If you get in touch with your councillor, s/he should live locally and when the dog is barking, you could ring them to come round. You've been incredibly patient - perhaps too much so. Also my local council is on Twitter and Facebook - is yours?Thats another way to go.

Bourdic · 07/01/2018 11:56

OP go on council website - they may have home number for your councillor and almost definitely an email for him/her.Email/ring NOW - tell story briefly and what you've done and how long this has been going on. Say you will email/ring every time dog is barking so s/he gets the idea. Ask him/her to come round - local councillors aren't just 9-5 Monday to Friday. Even if email address is via the council, in general a councillor will access that on a regular basis including weekends.

outgrown · 07/01/2018 12:05

I sent an email yesterday but got an auto reply to say that she doesn’t use her emails and I can call on Monday morning to x number.

In a way, it has become worse for you as it is only you who is now being affected by it.

I'm wondering if there might be an alternative solution here - is it a nice dog? Is it the sort of dog a friendly neighbour might be willing to walk?

outgrown · 07/01/2018 12:09

It’s nice enough, not vicious. But never had any training. I can’t see any of my neighbours being the type to do this. And the owners are not exactly friendly themselves.

OP posts:
Whisky2014 · 07/01/2018 12:10

If you went to the window would the dog climb out do you think?
Poor pooch.

outgrown · 07/01/2018 12:27

I hope not! It’s first floor and top opening!!

Does seem to be what he is trying to do though!!

OP posts:
Bourdic · 07/01/2018 14:53

Bloody hell - a computer illiterate councillor. Does not bode well. What about the chair of the relevant committee - also cc the Head of the relevant department in the council?

notapizzaeater · 07/01/2018 15:02

Local paper ?

Keep ringing your landlord - he might rattle cages again ..... feel sorry for you, must be hell.

outgrown · 07/01/2018 15:47

It’s their landlord. I own. They don’t really seem that bothered.
