It appears they are not doing their white chocolate and strawberry Christmas trees this year. Only the stupid salted caramel and milk chocolate ones.

They were the entire point of December.

They have RUINED my Christmas Xmas Angry

Now I really want sosmix with sweet corn and mayo. And a Christmas tree for pudding.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 06/12/2017 18:48

Ohhhhh Five Centres, that's them!

LakieLady · 06/12/2017 19:06

TrinitySquirrel, the H&S people will soon be knocking at your door.

Your post about semi-freddo made me choke on my tea so badly that some of it came down my nose. DP was disgusted with me, but only when he'd stopped slapping me on the back and it was clear I wasn't about to die.

LakieLady · 06/12/2017 19:18

I've been harbouring a ten year-old grudge against Iceland for discontinuing a roasted vegetable lattice pie with a tomato-based sauce

Only 10 years? I haven't forgiven M&S for stopping their sausage rolls with tomato the sausage meat, wrapped in cheese pastry. Or their dark chocolate choc ices filled with pineapple and coconut flavoured ice cream. That must have been over 30 years ago, and I'm still holding a grudge.

God, I fucking want one of those sausage rolls now. Damn their eyes.

LakieLady · 06/12/2017 19:22

My personal disappointment is the ever diminishing size of marzipan fruits. I want my WHOLE GOB to be full of marzipan

This is easily achievable: just keep on cramming the little fruits in until you have a gobfull. Wink

thegrinchreaper · 06/12/2017 19:35

I'll hold the grudge forever, Lakie!
Those M&S things sound so nice, they really are unforgivable. Marks' have given and taken away some of my favourite veggie ready meals over the years: an arrabiata pasta, a sort of Persian (I think) rice dish with onions, cardamom and star anise, and a garlicky spaghetti. 😭

thegrinchreaper · 06/12/2017 19:38

And going back to Iceland, I'm not sure if it's just the stores (yes plural, I've checked them all) closest to me, but they seem to have discontinued their hash browns...stuffed with baked beans!

Coconutspongexo · 06/12/2017 19:38

*StephiD3

The old style crisps from M&S - the new beef ones just aren’t the same.*

Yes!! When I was in hospital once the only thing I was willing to eat was M&S Ham & honey mustard crisps, they were amazing!

Coconutspongexo · 06/12/2017 19:39

Why doesn’t my bold work anymore Angry

SemolinaSilkpaws · 06/12/2017 19:52

Fry’s Five Centres - sigh n drool.

I remember a lovely chocolate in days of yore that was both milk and plain sandwiched together like well a sandwich. Was truly delicious.

Do Cadbury’s still do Old Jamaica chocolate? I used to spend my Sunday School collection money on bars of it and put the change in the plate.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 06/12/2017 20:27

Dip

You are boldless!

Yes to Mingles. I used to love those. If I remember rightly, my favourites were the ones with red, yellow or blue on the wrappers. And marrons glacé. I went to 4 supermarkets last year looking for them (Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and M&S). Couldn't find them anywhere. The other thing I haven't seen for years are fresh dates. I used to take out the stones, stuff them with homemade marzipan (left over from the Christmas cake) and then coat them in plain chocolate. Yummy.

My father got very upset when Bournvita was discontinued. Then my sister discovered that it was still made for the Nigerian (I think) market and used to buy it in for him at great expense.

StealthPolarBear · 06/12/2017 22:41

I saw marrons glacé in m and s today.
What are they?

StealthPolarBear · 06/12/2017 22:42

They were on the shelfy bit they usually have at the front with all the seasonal stuff on it

HoneyDragon · 06/12/2017 22:56

Chestnuts. Fucking awful they are.

OP posts:
EBearhug · 07/12/2017 00:50

marrons glacé

Chestnuts crystallised in sugar. They ate an acquired taste. Un-crystallised, roasted chestnuts, however are all mine and I'm not sharing.

ColonelJackONeil · 07/12/2017 14:30

The salted caramel pinecone shaped chocs in M&S look interesting.

I loved Old Jamaica chocolate ...

Dontsayyouloveme · 07/12/2017 18:16

CosyLulu - me too. It was amazing. Every time I see the other flavours I always cast my eyes round, just in case theres a random chocolate one hanging around!

Christinayangstwistedsista · 07/12/2017 19:40

Spangles!

HoneyDragon · 07/12/2017 20:24
