...there's just so many and I don't see how it saves any time or really what the point is? It's so confusing lol!
Dsis for example - why not just write sister?? Confused

'lol' is by far worse than any Mumsnet acronym.

GoingRogue · 22/11/2017 16:16

I hear ya.

Steaksauce · 22/11/2017 16:16

"Ddog" or "Dcat" are the worst. They're actually longer, it makes no sense.

I agree, it gets annoying.

GreenPurpleRed · 22/11/2017 16:16

Yes 'lol' Hmm

cardibach · 22/11/2017 16:17

I usually do. Don’t see it makes much difference. It’s usually pretty clear what the acronyms mean.

EiffelTower · 22/11/2017 16:17

Haha, I couldn't agree more, I keep having to look them all up. It makes reading posts a bit of a chore.

RoganJosh · 22/11/2017 16:18

I sometimes rebel and write H or husband.

DramaAlpaca · 22/11/2017 16:20

I don't mind the MN acronyms, but I can't stand 'lol'.

I personally love using DDog and DCat Grin

MrsKTx · 22/11/2017 16:20

I should have known someone would comment on the 'lol'! Shock

OP posts:
malcomFucker · 22/11/2017 16:20

There aren't really many.

D means dear and the second letter is the relation eg. DB (brother), DH (husband).

MRA = man = bad

DFOD = fuck off. For some reason, you can use this acronym without having your post deleted

WTF = with the family. eg. Gone to lunch with DD (dear daughter) and DS (dear son). WTF

lol = lots of love. Granny's gone to hospital. Call me. Lol

snash12 · 22/11/2017 16:23

YANBU

Lol is used in so many places now but I'm sure these DH, DSis, DF (Fiance or Father?!) are special to Mumsnet.

@malcom - I thought lol was "laugh out loud" not "lots of love". If this is the case, I've sent love to an awful lot of people that I didn't want to!

MissionItsPossible · 22/11/2017 16:24

I almost went through a whole thread before thinking a poster was talking about her relationship with a boyfriend but would then say "she" and I was really confused until I realised she meant best friend.

I was also shocked when I read a thread about someone hating her DS and listed all the things they did and everyone was piling in agreeing with nasty comments. Realised after she was talking about her sister, not her son.

TempusEejit · 22/11/2017 16:26

I remember seeing DH, DF etc on American chat forums nearly 20 years ago. Nowt special about their use on Mumsnet.

MrsKTx · 22/11/2017 16:26

Oh that's funny MissionItsPossible!

MagicFajita · 22/11/2017 16:27

Dnephew drives me mad.

Crispbutty · 22/11/2017 16:27

I think Malcom was being sarcastic 😂

WTF is certainly not With the family either.

treaclesoda · 22/11/2017 16:28

DH, DD etc are in no way specific to mumsnet, I was on chat forums many years before I discovered mumsnet where those were used.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/11/2017 16:29

Ironic that someone is complaining about letters being used and is calling herself MrsKTx.

I like them.

Kpo58 · 22/11/2017 16:30

Im pretty sure that WTF means What The F**k...

It annoys me when people use DS instead of DSis for sister. It makes for some very confusing posts.

Somethingfantastic89 · 22/11/2017 16:30

malcolm are you wtf now? Wink Grin

VladmirsPoutine · 22/11/2017 16:30

I once saw 'Dfish' I hid the thread and thought no more of it. That poster should have been banned imvho.

NeilPetark · 22/11/2017 16:31

DNeice and DNephew, totally pointless.

thecolonelbumminganugget · 22/11/2017 16:32

I like STBXH, I always read it as "stupid bastard ex husband", I'd been around a good few years before I found it it didn't mean that but I prefer my version and I'm sticking with it Grin

Steaksauce · 22/11/2017 16:33

Dfish GrinGrinGrin

MrsKTx · 22/11/2017 16:34
