...there's just so many and I don't see how it saves any time or really what the point is? It's so confusing lol!
Dsis for example - why not just write sister?? Confused

OP posts:
Tiddler7 · 22/11/2017 16:34

Lol does mean lots od laughs

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LOL

But I wouldn't have thought of WTF meaning with the family Grin

DramaAlpaca · 22/11/2017 16:34

I am howling at Dfish Grin Grin

JollyWankers · 22/11/2017 16:37

thecolonelbumminganugget I thought that as well Grin

JollyWankers · 22/11/2017 16:37

I haven't seen dfish but I'm sure I've seen dhamster.

Motoko · 22/11/2017 21:21

DF, dear father? Friend? Fiance?
DS sister or son?
BF, best friend or boyfriend?
DN, niece or nephew?

And WTF doesn't mean With The Family. It's been What The Fuck for at least 20 years. As has LOL meant Laugh Out Loud.

I don't mind DH or DP, but I prefer it if people used the actual word for other family, as it can get very confusing if someone is using an ambiguous one like DS for sister and son in the same thread.

oldlaundbooth · 22/11/2017 21:22

Meh

DonkeyOaty · 22/11/2017 21:24

Grin at stupid bastard ex husband.

averylongtimeago · 22/11/2017 21:37

You know you have been on mn too long when you say you are going with DH to see the pil.

KinkyAfro · 22/11/2017 21:41

I don't get the 'dear' thing either, I never say dear mum or dear nephew when I'm speaking to someone, it sounds weird.

DancingHouse · 22/11/2017 21:44

All acronyms are a waste of time not just the ones on mumsnet. It's not clear and doesn't speed up any process of communication. It was wishful thinking this nonsense would stop after the text talk died out but no.

EastMidsMummy · 22/11/2017 21:48

It's crap and hinders communication.

"Son" is a word we can all read and understand without needing to "read" it. DS is counter-intuitive and ambiguous. A load of B. (Bollocks. Not bullshit.)

averylongtimeago · 22/11/2017 21:50

Malcom MRA = men's rights activist

Normally very sad misogynistic men who fear women.

Normal, decent men = good

CheeseGirl4 · 22/11/2017 21:51

I cannot abide the acronyms. Any acronym makes it harder for the reader and all this 'D' H business is so twee and old fashioned.

therealreginaphalange · 22/11/2017 21:55

Woooosh.

The sound of malcolm's post going over a fair few heads

Grin

I don't use MN a great deal but when I was pregnant and using it daily I did start to think of my husband as DH even in my head...

Tazmum01 · 22/11/2017 21:59

I still don't know what OP stands for! I know it refers to the poster of the thread, but can't figure it out.

therealreginaphalange · 22/11/2017 22:00

Original poster Taz.

JollyWankers · 22/11/2017 22:00

Tazmum01 either Original Poster or Original Post.

Tazmum01 · 22/11/2017 22:00

Oh...is it Original Poster/Post??
Jesus Christ, what a noonoo.

Tazmum01 · 22/11/2017 22:01

Jolly, cross post, but thanks. It hit me when I saw it in words 😝

JollyWankers · 22/11/2017 22:01

I know DonkeyOaty! Made sense before I looked it up (and still does haha) Grin

Tazmum01 · 22/11/2017 22:02

Thanks, real x

Smellylittleorange · 22/11/2017 22:04
