At a 19yr Old Transwoman being elected a Labour woman’s officer

Seems the old WO stepped down after alleged bullying and accusation of transphobia. The new WO is a 19 yr old Transwoman - i think who made many of The allegations against the previous WO.

What experience has a 19 yr old TW got to hold this post - weirder than weird.

You can't make this shit up.

AssignedPerfectAtBirth Watch that bloke's twitter feed disappear in seconds. Someone accuses him of racism too on it...

CAAKE · 20/11/2017 15:20

I notice a MN tab open in that screen shot of Liam’s browser.

pisacake · 20/11/2017 15:22

Proper archive link to his profile.

CAAKE · 20/11/2017 15:22

Oh hold on that’s your browser isn’t it @AssignedPerfectAtBirth 😂. I’m on a train and am enraged by Ed M so not thinking straight.

BatShite · 20/11/2017 15:25

I take the Mhairi Black point, she is fucking amazing. BUT, she would be not suited to a role specifically about male rights. Which is what this position basically is. A male, in a role about female rights. what could possibly go wrong?

I am not so concerned with the age. Its the fact that they are male. And also fairly misogynistic and clueless going off the videos and comments they make.

catgirl1976 · 20/11/2017 15:26

Someone should send that to The Times

BatShite · 20/11/2017 15:26

On a brighter note Owen Jones has blocked me grin by all accounts history will damn me!

Ahaha you must have done something right

I used to champion this prick. Seriously. I was at one stage wishing for someone like him (if not him) to be PM. I have done a complete U-turn and see him as a smarmy misogynistic prick now. Guess I am maturing Grin

Sentimentallentil · 20/11/2017 15:27

Wait a minute, on what planet are Mhairi Black and this Lily person comparable? Have you seen Lily’s videos??
Some 19 year olds are younger than others.

Datun · 20/11/2017 15:28

And think rape is funny. And are so complacent about that viewpoint that they are happy to show it on their Twitter profile.

Not only does this idiot have no clue about women’s issues, he is actively, openly anti women.

BatShite · 20/11/2017 15:32

You know, I am so happy to see that more and more mumsnet members are coming round to this now. It wasn't too long ago that these threads were FILLED with 'you are all bigots' and such, and now such a post is a rarity. The message is definitely getting out there. I know mumsnet is not necessarily the same as the general public view, but I really do feel that the public would be fully gender critical if they knew what was going on completely. The Times (and specifically Janice Turner) are doing a grand job at getting the word out. I just wish the other papers would follow suit as surely they can see that its all bollocks?!

It basically seems, that the more people think about the issue, the more they become gender critical. All we need is more thinking.

BatShite · 20/11/2017 15:34

They aren't compatible in the slightest. But someone used Mhari as an argument against those saying 19 is too young for such a role.

I actually think I am a little bit in love with Mhairi. I say that as a heterosexual woman

Copperkettles · 20/11/2017 15:36

I am so angry with Ed Miliband using the word hysterical in relation to women.

And I hate the word 'cis' too. It implies you're comfortable with your gender. I'm not comfortable with it though. I hated the idea of developing breasts and getting my period when I was growing up. It scared me. I hate that there are men out there who only view me as a sexual object despite my intelligence/life experience/qualifications. I hate that my biology means i'm vulnerable and that my worth will essentially diminish as I age (in the eyes of some men at least).

I am stereotypically very feminine: I like make up and wearing dresses and am curvaceous in the right places. I still do not feel comfortable with my gender. Oh and I have two medical conditions which mostly affect women. They're both hideous to live with.

Sentimentallentil · 20/11/2017 15:38

Off point but my poor dh had no idea what a shit storm this all was and managed to get himself in a pickle.
he’s got quite a lot of followers on twitter due to his hobby but never sways out of his circles.
He is very gender critical and nievely thought that was the sensible and dominant argument.
The other day he said that he noticed he wasn’t getting as many retweets and likes on his posts and I was like, oh that’s weird let me have a look at your feed. Turns out he’s liked all the gender critical pages and been retweeting Miranda Yardley and Magdalena Burns left right and centre, and has managed to get himself on the blockaterf list.

He was like ‘but I didn’t say anything bad!’

I think this will all come to a head when it starts affecting the men too.
I mean my husband is an amazing allie but he didn’t believe me when I said how mad it all was he had to experience it himself.

Sentimentallentil · 20/11/2017 15:44

Yeah I don’t think 19 is too young for office either, it depends on the person.
By the time I was 19 I’d been living on my own for 3 years and was an adult. I wouldn’t have run for office as I was going through my anti establishment phase and was spending my time going to raves in squats and genuinely believed that we were all just one ecstasy pill away from world peace Blush

runners656 · 20/11/2017 15:45

does this prove that labour members are sexist? i would say its no coincidence that the labour has never had a women leader. when the conservatives have had 2 that have become pm and won 4 elections and the conservatives have had a female leader 17 of the last 42 years

Bucketsandspoons · 20/11/2017 15:53

Are they going to redefine what rape is, since a woman can't rape a woman?

Trans lobby are on this. I have seen a screenshot of a TRA gently explaining to a woman who was raped by a transwomen that transwomen cannot rape women. Apparently it is impossible to 'rape' someone who holds more political power than you. The most the woman victim may claim is that she experienced unwanted sex.

Frankly you can take this rightthink idiot fantasy bullshit and stick up whatever orifice comes first to hand. I'm not buying it. It only works when people buy into it.

Read some of the mens responses to the articles in The Times yesterday. Many read more or less 'batshit/bollocks, not doing that, subject closed', and this is why the trans lobby don't bother trying to harass men. Women need to start doing the same without guilt and without fear.

ArcheryAnnie · 20/11/2017 15:56

does this prove that labour members are sexist?

No, runners, it proves that some Labour members are sexist. Other Labour members are very active in protecting women's rights, and that's always been the case.

It's the Tory Maria Miller who is pushing for new legislation to remove women's rights under the guise of "trans rights". There isn't a political party out there that isn't awful on this issue at some level.

TheRollingCrone · 20/11/2017 16:03

Batshit I was one of those who thought "oh what's the biggie" " live and let live" blah blah. Mumsnet posters educated me and I'm so thankful.
When my 10 yr old dd told me "you can change sex if you want, I saw it on cbbc" I was able to counter that.
Now I'm doing my own reading/engaging with other women,I'm fucking angry!
Women are being silenced, Lesbians are being told they are a figment of their own imaginations - WTF?
I,ve been called a bigot, a trump lover all kinds of crap.
Aye Cis Woman am I? Get tae fuck. I'm a woman and my fat arse is lodged on this bench - get your own bench

runners656 · 20/11/2017 16:13

so its just a coincidence that labours never had a female leader? or chancellor or shadow chancellor and jared o'mara calling women a bitch someone corbyn said should not resign. and its not some labour members its the majority of members that have never since that start of the labour party voted for a female leader (they have had 21 leaders in that time)

RedToothBrush · 20/11/2017 16:20

I think it proves that some Labour members think being progressive is to support something which they don't fully understand and can't be arsed to find out more about because its not really what they are interested in, or are too easily swept along with following what everyone else around them says they should believe in, rather than doing the research themselves, thinking critically and forming their own opinion back on the information they find in the process.

Basically its just laziness and a trendy current cause which gets a certain type of publicity for them.

Same goes for a lot of people who identify as young, progressive and liberal. There is a misconception of what being liberal and progressive means, and obviously pro-trans is always progressive isn't it? Well it is, isn't it? Cos they are all powerless victims of the right and nasty unprogressive feminists? And its the same as this lazy comparison with homophobia.

To criticise the trans lobby is to not be liberal and progressive and thus this means its also as much about their own identity of being liberal and progressive as it is about having a trans-identity. It means that is essential to support the trans lobby, rather than look at it in a more critical manner.

It has become very difficult to look at the issue as a liberal/ progressive who really believes in the extension of rights and reconcile this with the trans-lobby with any reservations you might have about it as a result of that.

Any such criticism is labelled as small-mindedness for a reason. To silence it.

Who wants to take on the more difficult role of critically thinking about this, when you are going to get smeared in the process as not being liberal / progressive? Politicians on the left are frankly, often too chicken shit to do that.

For anything to be democratic and to truly enhance rights and protect the vulnerable there needs to be an honest and transparent debate on the subject. This is not happening.

This is the betrayal of women. This is the betrayal of many trans-people too ironically.

The whole debate has been framed as a left v right or a progressive v conservative thing, rather than something which is about equality for all which acknowledges all the problems, conflicts of differing interests and underlying fears properly. Instead the mentality is simply to railroad things through without proper consideration. There in lies the real issue, which will only cause problems and heartache in the long run.

Ed Milliband did a podcast with Helen Webberley who is being investigated by the GMC? FFS Angry

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 20/11/2017 16:25

I haven't read the full thread, just wanted to say I won't be taking any advice from a person who calls themselves Lubeybooby - seriously, could that be more porny!?

GladAllOver · 20/11/2017 16:44

I've said this in previous threads on the subject and wasn't particularly popular, but I'll say it again anyway.

If a man really, genuinely, feels he is in the wrong body, I sympathise with him because it must be a very depressing condition.

If such a man as an adult, decides to undergo a physical transformation by having his genitals removed and taking the prescribed hormones, I would accept him being in women's spaces. He has made a genuine effort towards being a woman, and although he still has most of a man's body, to put it crudely he can't rape without a penis.

But if a man simply plays at being a woman by putting on a dress and makeup then I have no sympathy at all and would not give him any concession whatever. Penis = man.
