I understand why you say that. Because I get that it feels like there is more commitment.
But firstly, it’s considered transphobic to make that distinction. TRAs say it’s forcing them to be sterilised. I.e. to have the surgery in order to be legitimate.
Secondly, surgery really doesn’t preclude the cross dressing fetishists, who make up the bulk of the problem. Their fetish can take them all the way through to surgery.
And lastly, it’s not only about the threat of rape, i.e. having a penis. Men can make women feel exceptionally uncomfortable with a flick of the eye. Leery or lascivious looks, smirks, comments.
I just don’t want to be in that position. I’m tired of having to justify why. I’m weary of having to make excuses to maintain my boundaries. With people saying well what if it was like this, or what if it was like that?
I can’t tell if someone is a predator, by what they wear, the state of their genitals, or whether they are dressed as a woman or a man. All I know is 98% of sexually violent crime is committed by men.
Voyeurs are overwhelmingly men. Peeping toms are overwhelmingly men. Upskirt photos are overwhelmingly taken by men. Holes drilled in changing room walls are overwhelmingly drilled by men.
Until I can tell a predator from non-predator, I will use the only possible distinction that works and that is segregating women from men when women are vulnerable.
