Fucking arsehole.

Not content with fat shaming his son and using the word “retarded” because he is an arsehole. His only worry about his son is that he might grow up far. He isn’t worried if this happens to his daughter as “there are uses for fat women”.

Fucking arsehole.

Latest article in Esquire magazine.

No Giles, you’re not funny or satirical....you’re a fucking arsehole.

I don’t care what MY son becomes as long as he isn’t a dickhead like you.

I didn't meant to tell people what to think or feel. I just felt that people bringing his family, and personal matters into their argument was a bit low that was all.

But its clearly hit a nerve, and people do have the right to be annoyed and express their annoyance with what he said, so I apologise if that's how it came across

I just don't take him seriously enough to get annoyed by him if that make's sense, and trust me many thing in this unfair & unkind world do anger me - I am not completely passive

RosaTheOwl · 10/11/2017 17:45

stop "in protesting how vile he is, people use such vitriol it kind of negates their argument "

I don't think anyone here has been remotely vitriolic

certainly no one has got near his scale of repulsiveness.

" I just felt that people bringing his family, and personal matters into their argument was a bit low that was all."

I think people are expressing concern for his children, one expressed concern for his wife and I said that she knew who he was when she married him - his "journalistic" record is clear. I haven't missed anyone saying they hate his kids or anything have I?

Birdsgottafly · 10/11/2017 17:48

"Presumably if he used racist language vitriol would be ok. As it’s only the disabled he’s insulting we should all get back in our boxes."

Absolutely, if he described his Wife/Mother's/Cousin etc as getting a perm/spray tan and looking like a (insert once acceptable racist term), he wouldn't work again.

This is how he once described himself "I was a boring, possessive, bullying, fat twat with no self-respect who fell over a lot and snored. " so now he's stopped falling over, well done.

He admits to drink/drug driving (but it was ok because he didn't kill anyone) and cocaine use, for at least a decade. He says this about the Women in his life pre-wife "my relationships were shorter now, generally less than two years and always ending in accusations of violence, abuse, sexism, drug-addiction, selfishness… but that was nothing to do with booze or drugs. That was just crazy women talking crazy shit like they always do".

"I have never swallowed a mouthful of beer without thinking: "Ah yes, now, let's get a couple of bottles of decent claret, then cocktails, a gram or two of quality biff and find some unfussy Doris in from the provinces to molest in the bogs."

Oh how hysterical to throw in a word that means to sexually assault someone. But from what he said previously, it was claimed he did, but that was ok, because in them days Women weren't believed.

mrsRosaPimento · 10/11/2017 17:52

He brought his family into it. Why can’t we discuss it? The way he speaks about his wife is disrespectful. The way he speaks about his children is disgusting.

berryupset · 10/11/2017 18:26

He's on a roll. Did anyone see his comment piece in the times, a couple of weeks ago? Behind paywall but essentially he complains that he doesn't know how he will cope in the workplace post Harvey Weinstein. He implied that no man is safe from rabid army of women who would unfairly accuse him or others of assault. He really is a monumental arsehole, but I have to question whether he is happy! He seems so extraordinarily attention seeking that it's hard to imagine.

On subject of his wife, she did an instastories recently saying that before they met she had admired him for ages, cut out and kept his writing. So I don't feel too worried about her - she obviously knew what he was like and liked it! Extraordinary again! Most sane people familiar with his writing would surely run a mile in the opposite direction!

RebelRogue · 10/11/2017 18:26

I would so sit on him until he became a “victim of fat people” statistic.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 10/11/2017 18:30

Interesting to note, that coverage of the article has hit the Daily Fail, but the actual Esquire article has removed the word "retard" from the article.

Commuterface · 10/11/2017 18:30

It’s not an attempt at satire. It’s being a pure cunt.

ShizzleYoDrizzle · 10/11/2017 18:30

"I have never swallowed a mouthful of beer without thinking: "Ah yes, now, let's get a couple of bottles of decent claret, then cocktails, a gram or two of quality biff and find some unfussy Doris in from the provinces to molest in the bogs."

Oh God. The sad little gimp is desperate to be seen as an alpha male isn't he? As if!

Like Aled Jones trying to convince people he's actually Keith Richards.

berryupset · 10/11/2017 18:33

I think he might think (or say) he's brave. Because he's saying what everybody's thinking but doesn't say. I think inside he's scared as hell. Who knows of what precisely. That's my cut price psycho-analysis for the day.

OrlandoMusc · 10/11/2017 18:40

How any man who writes about how being on holiday alone with his 3 year old daughter is the most romantic and sexy holiday ever wants taken out the back and shot.

user1465893880 · 10/11/2017 18:41

Don’t know much about him.

Excellent article. Fair play to him

TammySwansonTwo · 10/11/2017 18:44

I hope he's putting the freelance money in an account for therapy. That kid is an eating disorder waiting to happen.

What a massive fucking shitweasel.

And stop going on about the NHS - maybe if they gave a shit about treating underlying physical and mental health issues that cause obesity, there wouldn't be such a fucking problem.

QueenThisTime · 10/11/2017 18:44

It's not "satire" to simply say a lot of offensive things that others might stop short of saying. And if it was satire, it wouldn't be satirising anyone in particular except people the gross views he expresses, of whom there aren't many.

Armando Iannucci does satire. Swift and Orwell did satire. Satire is sophisticated and has a point and a genuine target to take down.

But all that aside, it doesn't matter anyway, even if somehow there is an argument that it's satire. The point is writing vicious shit like that about your children will deeply upset them if and when they read it. At the age that might happen - as a sensitive teen or preteen - any possibly subverted meaning won't get through.

Pagwatch · 10/11/2017 18:46

OK. I suppose every arsehole will find their audience somewhere.

Pagwatch · 10/11/2017 18:47

Exactly Queen.

Just because it's offensive doesn't make it satire.

QueenThisTime · 10/11/2017 18:49

And re his wife, I'll say again that knowing what you're getting into should not mean you have to lie in the bed you made forever.

If a woman married a man who she knew had knocked a previous girlfriend about, it wouldn't mean she therefore deserved to be beaten up by him twice a week and it would be fine to say "well you knew who he was". We'd support her to leave, wouldn't we?

The way he writes about her is horrible, demeaning and misogynistic and she doesn't deserve it, no one does.

ShizzleYoDrizzle · 10/11/2017 18:51

'And then I sit and stare at her, like the dippiest lover, not talking, transfixed by her beauty. Unable quite to drink it all in. Missing heartbeats at the way she gazes out at the sea through her long, curling lashes while slurping Coke through her pursed, plump little lips.'

And doing this I realise how being on holiday with my tiny daughter is the most insanely romantic holiday, in some ways even the sexiest holiday, that I’ve ever had.'

Bleurgh x 100.

I mean why would any normal person use the words 'romantic' and 'sexy' to describe a wonderful solo holiday with their child? Just to cause a stir and then sit back and snigger?

Is the weasel really that desperate for attention that he has to involve a small child in his weirdness?

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 10/11/2017 18:56

The fact that the word satire is used in association with the shit turned out by the likes of coren, Carr, Boyle and assorted other wastes of God’s good oxygen demonstrates that as a nation we are becoming significantly stupider, not smarter. It is evidence of loss of intellectual sophistication.

Agerbilatemycardigan · 10/11/2017 19:02

Speechless 😕

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 10/11/2017 19:05

Reading more I think peoples vitriol comes from a genuine place rather than a place of spite

I stand corrected and that's not a term you often see here Grin

RebelRogue · 10/11/2017 19:07

Why is his 3 yo drinking Coke if he’s that worried about diets and weight?
Or is that ok because she’s skinny now and “fat women have their uses”?

Wishfulmakeupping · 10/11/2017 19:08

Only seen him on the food time travel programme before- didn't realise he specialised in writing bile like about his children- nice bloke!

RosaTheOwl · 10/11/2017 19:38

berry "Because he's saying what everybody's thinking but doesn't say."

I had no idea so many people dreamed of the day their children grew up to commit anal rape!!!!!!!!!!!!

berryupset · 10/11/2017 19:55

No - I don't think that's what everyone thinks! I just think that might be his justification to himself and others. And that he has an idea of himself as someone who bravely breaks taboos. When clearly he is an unfunny dickhead.
