DS wants to vote for Trump.

More a WWYD,

DS will be old enough to vote next election. He said he would probably vote Trump as he seems ok, and there isn’t really another option,

Both me and DH voted Libertarian last election. I am a little sad he hasn’t chosen the Libertarian way, but it’s his own choice at the end of the day and I can’t judge him.

Hopefully Trump will either be dead or impeached by then.

bluebells1 · 18/10/2017 18:25

Good Lad.

Phosphorus · 18/10/2017 18:28

Do they know who'll be standing against him?

Kursk · 18/10/2017 18:31

No idea who will be Standing against him, we know Hillary won’t. Not sure about Sanders

NoKidsTwoCats · 18/10/2017 18:31

WWID? I'd be genuinely struggling not to disown him.

As that's pretty severe I guess I'd be trying to educate him about what a disgusting, racist, homophobic, egotistical, narcissistic pig the man is and trying to make him see sense.

(then I'd probably disown him through disgust and shame if that didn't work).

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/10/2017 18:32

I think he's going to get another term.

Kursk · 18/10/2017 18:34

I suspect he will get another term too

OP posts:
oldbirdy · 18/10/2017 18:37

"he seems ok"?
Which bit of tearing up the USA's environmental commitments, destabilising Iraq and North Korea, destroying health care for the poorest and pandering to gun lobbyists is "ok" by him? And that's just off the top of my head in 1 minute!

BossyBitch · 18/10/2017 18:37

If he will be old enough to vote next time round but isn't yet, is giving him up for adoption still an option?

I mean, there's limits to what even parental love is capable of withstanding, surely? Wink

In all seriousness, what NoKids said, basically!

VeniVidiWeeWee · 18/10/2017 18:47

How would you know? Surely a secret ballot?

ShoesHaveSouls · 18/10/2017 18:48

God. You must be gutted.

Ttbb · 18/10/2017 18:49

Good for you for respecting his right to choose (not sure I could be so understanding tbf). There may be a better option though. It's not like Hilary will run again (although she has since proved to be pretty bad I'm still not sure that she was worse option).

sinceyouask · 18/10/2017 18:50

Surely he's on a windup?

UserX · 18/10/2017 18:52

Both me and DH voted Libertarian last election

Well done for voting Trump in then. You must be really pleased with the efficacy of your vote. 👍👍😃

Kursk · 18/10/2017 18:55

UserX

We decided not to vote tactically,

OP posts:
annandale · 18/10/2017 18:55

How can there be no other option if the primary hasn't been held yet?

I agree I think that Trump will likely be renominated.

BeALert · 18/10/2017 18:57

Do you regret not voting tactically? With Trump as the result?

Kursk · 18/10/2017 19:00

There can’t but he is just going with what he sees.

I am 100% sure he won’t vote democrat whatever happens. I asked him about the illigal immigrants, his response was “well Mum you came over legally as did everything right”

OP posts:
Kursk · 18/10/2017 19:03

BeALert

I don’t think so, Not right now anyway

WhyDidIEatThat · 18/10/2017 19:05

What was the question again?

MissConductUS · 18/10/2017 19:07

I think he's going to get another term.

With a 56% disapproval rating, not bloody likely:

projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

And it's only going to get worse as the mess around with tax reform. Taking away the state and local tax deduction will be hugely unpopular.

BeALert · 18/10/2017 19:07

I don't know what I'd do, and it's a good question as my DD will be old enough to vote in the next election too Shock

I'd probably look for a personal effect of voting Trump eg with DD1 I'd point out that if Trump has his way, her best friends soon won't have health insurance, which is effectively a death sentence for one of them.

bluebells1 · 18/10/2017 19:08

He will get another term and he will win again. As long as Pelosi, M Obama, Hillary are the Democrats' potential candidates, he has nothing to worry about.

RangeTesKopeks · 18/10/2017 19:11

I only found out about the Libertarians the other day on here - feel really uninformed Blush are they quite a small party?

Kursk · 18/10/2017 19:14

RangeTesKopeks

They are a fairly small party that is gaining ground.
