More a WWYD,

DS will be old enough to vote next election. He said he would probably vote Trump as he seems ok, and there isn’t really another option,

Both me and DH voted Libertarian last election. I am a little sad he hasn’t chosen the Libertarian way, but it’s his own choice at the end of the day and I can’t judge him.

I have a bet on him being impeached. Looking less likely by the day Sad

This is a joke, right? You oppose any govt schools, any role for govt in pensions or regulating financial products, any gun control, any regulations on pornography, any trade agreements, any health and safety rules imposed by govt, environmental protection by govt., any restrictions on immigration, Medicare, Social Security, Unionised labour, minimum wage, any foreign aid from US govt, and more lunacies. Meanwhile they advocate PFI & Group4 type organisations to replace the US military.

Or maybe your son has some brain cells. I can't stand Trump but I'd vote for him before I'd vote Libertarian.

Personally I would keep the military

If it were my son I'd feel really sad that I'd be unable to talk to him about the world any more.

Mind you, OP, maybe your views are closer to his than you think, so not such an awful thing for you.

I think the most productive thing you can do is encourage him to get his news from a wide range of sources. Not just what's on his social media feed, that's manipulated by vested interests and often outright false.

Personally I don't think much of the Trump, the Republican party, or the Libertarian party. I believe the Libertarians' blind faith in the free market is deeply misguided, that a country without an effective social welfare system is failing at one of the basic duties of the state, and that the Libertarian party's policies would have killed my mother and me when I was a baby.

Compared to that, voting for Trump is the less bad choice.
