Rumours have been circulating about this disgusting man and his sleazy casting couch for years... He has offered a half-hearted apology, but seems rather smug about the fact that his family are supporting him.

AIBU to think his wife is misguided? What sort of example is she setting to her daughter? After all, this isn't a one-off - it is a pattern of serious abuse of women over decades.

Women’s rights is going backwards, not forwards, and it frustrates me when people say “men and women are equal now”. 😡😡😡😡

This is so true. I feel extremely sad about the world I am living in and petrified for my children.

Worriedrose · 13/10/2017 23:03

I'd be worried about the daily mail
There is the everyday Sexism

It's hard, I think most people just don't want to relive it or admit it happened. Only as I've reached middle age have I become a lot more conscious of the impact of it on all of our lives, wether you have suffered directly or indirectly

It shapes everything about how we conduct our lives as women

DarthMaiden · 13/10/2017 23:08

I’ve posted in AIBU

Tbh I wouldn’t be worried about the daily fail - it’s not good copy for them.

They like click bait - endless stories about sexual harassment are not their MO.

Want2bSupermum · 13/10/2017 23:18

Just saw an opinion piece on a Stephen Segal. Was not complementary. His poor assistants. One stood up for herself and was able to shut down the show A&E were working on. Trying to find a link to the piece without a paywall.

Want2bSupermum · 13/10/2017 23:20

here

DeleteOrDecay · 13/10/2017 23:24

I’m not surprised to read that about the Pussycat Dolls at all unfortunately.

It’s a horrible horrible world we live in.

Here - I’ve made a start my posting my experiences.

Want2bSupermum · 13/10/2017 23:38

The pussycat dolls were originally a dance group in vegas who had a lead singer added to make them a girl band. Many many girls working as dancers in vegas are coerced into prostitution. I went once to vegas. They will never see another $ of my money. It's a cess pit.

Want2bSupermum · 13/10/2017 23:44

I got upset in vegas because there were numerous women who offered themselves up for money to DH and I, either to be with him, me or both. I do not believe for one second those women 'wanted' to be earning money by selling sex.

The entertainment industry is beyond cruel to women. After my experiences I declined the 'opportunity' for our eldest DD to have a contract for modeling. We not she needs the money and more harm than good is likely to be the outcome.

CaveMum · 14/10/2017 06:45

I can't place the Pussycat Doll from her Twitter handle. Was she the red-head, the one that left before the group split?

southeastdweller · 14/10/2017 07:31

Tyne Daly’s comments start at 1.47:

InigoTaran · 14/10/2017 08:11

That article about Steven Segal is appalling, I hope it all comes out about him too.

This is a good article by Naomi Wolf about the power of hearing wome talk about their experiences

Sliceofthecake · 14/10/2017 08:34

I live in a region where mysogeny is rife amongst the younger men, i.e. under 35.

My 20yr old DD will not date English boys.

KrytensNanobots · 14/10/2017 08:41

My 20yr old DD will not date English boys

Confused You do know not all English people are horrible, right? I know lots of nice English boys and men.

HadronCollider · 14/10/2017 08:41

That's sweet Darthmaiden thank you. Going to head over to the Aibu in a minute. Great idea!

Love the Tyne Daly link. All those older women seemed to be so in the know. Of course they're unfazed. They've seen all the crap. And been victims of it.. Felt sad for the actress who nearly became the 'pass around girl' because no one warned her. I got the impression they were saying. 'Look you don't know nothing. I could tell you stories. This is just the tip of the iceberg'

Tyne Daly was bang on the money about the hypocrisy that's going on.

limitedperiodonly · 14/10/2017 09:45

I think it would be a good thing if the Daily Mail lifted a thread full of women's tales of sexual harassment and workplace bullying. But something tells me they won't.

HadronCollider · 14/10/2017 10:22

I don't think anyone posting their personal experiences of abuse needs worry they'll be picked up by the Daily Fail. Not their remit. Their side column reads like a magazine straight out of an 80s sitcom like the Benny Hill Show. It's all 'XX actress/celebs sun-tanned derriere looks peachy in Marbella' or 'XX flashes her show stopping bosom at Film premiere' or the worst ones: BEACH BODIES!!! XX and XX REVEAL NEW SVELTE FIGURES IN ANTIGUA [women showed impressive figures when taking a break from filming xx movie]....

They're not interested in puting a spotlight on female exploitation.

Sliceofthecake · 14/10/2017 10:31

I know lots of English men and boys too. Probably because I'm English.

Worriedrose · 14/10/2017 10:40

Article by Joan Collins shows just how long it's been around, not that anyone thought it wasn't. But I am quite glad she doesn't say "it was what it was and we were all ok with it"

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4979212/Why-lost-Cleopatra-Liz-Taylor.html

Riversleep · 14/10/2017 10:47

Yes today they had an article about Mila Kunis being warned about an assault and in the article was a link to 'Mila Kunis flaunts her flat stomach' presumably by walking down the street in a T-shirt rather than a burqa!

Terfing · 14/10/2017 10:53

The Pussycat Dolls thing is shocking. I'm not surprised it's been deleted. I wonder if Nicole Scherzinger will make a statement?

HadronCollider · 14/10/2017 11:23

The MIla Kunis thing is typical of DM. Woman walks about in normal clothing and is 'flaunting' herself. This is the problem.

Has it clicked for anyone else why these actresses of the silver screen got married so many times? I'm thinking it was the only protection they had. Marry another actor you actually like, in order to avoid being harrassed into sleeping with someone you don't like. Elizabeth T married what 7 times or something ridiculous, and many more married 4 or 5 times. I always thought it was because not being married was frowned upon at the time, but now I think there was also another sinister reason for it.

Bumblebee2302 · 14/10/2017 11:45

The Pussycat Doll was not one of the members of the girlband but rather one of the members of the burlesque dance troupe which I think performed (performs?) In Las Vegas. The girlband was an extension of the dance troupe, I believe.

HadronCollider · 14/10/2017 11:46

Former pussycat girl giving an interview explaining her tweets and her experiences in the group. According to her basically they treated them like prostitutes and it was a well known 'thing'. www.infowars.com/pussycat-dolls-singer-i-wasnt-in-a-girl-group-i-was-in-a-prostitution-ring/

HadronCollider · 14/10/2017 11:49

In the video she says she was part of the music group. She talks about music exes being the 'punters' so to speak (ugh). Pretty sure she was the red headed one who left the group before they broke up. Could be wrong.
