Poundland

Is it just me who thinks poundland shouldn't be allowed to sell items for more than £1. Why even bother call it poundland?

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 30/09/2017 19:57

Nope, everything should be a pound.

PalmerViolets · 30/09/2017 20:00

Agree, last time there was stuff for £2, £6, confusing.

Ohwell14 · 30/09/2017 20:01

I bloody hate it, go to pick something up thinking it's a really good bargain for a quick turns out its 3 bloody quid. Change the name if your going to change what you sell.

Ohwell14 · 30/09/2017 20:01

For a quid that should say

Dancingfairy · 30/09/2017 20:10

I scanned some through today and it was £5 it was put with all the £1 stuff very annoying.

rightnowimpissed · 30/09/2017 20:12

Yip it should be what it says on the tin

RedBlackberries · 30/09/2017 20:13

They make it pretty obvious what's more though and it's almost always behind the tills. There washing powder deals are amazing.

NapQueen · 30/09/2017 20:13

But its not called One Pound Land.

rightnowimpissed · 30/09/2017 20:15

It’s whole premis tho is that studs a £1 so they don’t need price tags everything’s a £1

Dancingfairy · 30/09/2017 20:21

Well I just looked on there Facebook page and actually it is a big £1 sign. They are not behind the tills round here and not any I've seen so you can't speak for all pound shops.

OP posts:
Dancingfairy · 30/09/2017 20:22

And I wouldn't say the deals were "amazing" no different to tescos offers

I'm not a regular Poundland shopper, but even I know their Unique Selling Point : Everything's £1.

If that is no longer the case, they no longer have a USP, and they become just another shop. Without that USP Tesco, Asda Aldi & Lidl will eat them alive.

Glumglowworm · 30/09/2017 20:36

All the pound shops by me make it very clear when stuff is more than £1.

If you don't like it, don't shop there

PlatformNineAndThreeQuarters · 30/09/2017 20:38

I try to avoid the more expensive stuff in there after buying an £8 extra large pack of Finish dishwasher tablets. No wonder they were in there in that shop as every single tablet was broken to powder so presumably they ended up in Poundland as rejects

MiddlingMum · 30/09/2017 20:40

Ours makes it very clear when something is more than a pound.

MyHusbandIsNotADick · 30/09/2017 20:42

We always get the finish powerball bulk pack. Never had a problem. I don't really mind - it's obvious when something looks too good to be £1.

I suppose you should vote with your feet if it really bothers you.

CherryCheese · 30/09/2017 20:42

If you don't like it, don't shop there

Great tip Captain Obvious

MyHusbandIsNotADick · 30/09/2017 20:43

But it isn't obvious. People grip and moan but they still shop there instead of the local shop because they can save 10p

MyHusbandIsNotADick · 30/09/2017 20:43

Gripe*

Betsy86 · 30/09/2017 20:52

I agree op it's a joke in there now every items a random price was so easy grabbing stuff before. Now it's like oh that's £3 that's 50p or 4 for £1.50 etc etc. Odd bits still £1 which is good but they do have a cheek calling it Poundland now!!
Don't think the bigger offers are that amazing can get better in the supermarkets normally xx

NuffSaidSam · 30/09/2017 20:55

It really annoys me.

In our one it is fairly obvious what is more than £1, although it's not behind the till so I don't why it annoys me so much. It does though.

Everything should be £1 that's the whole point of poundland.

Theimpossiblegirl · 30/09/2017 20:55

Our local store has been extended at the back and doubles up as Pep & Co. It's chaos. You can hardly move and stuff is so crammed in it's impossible to find anything.
Might have to go to Poundworld...

hibernatinghorris · 30/09/2017 21:18

Ours is starting to have more non pound items then pound. It annoys me, probably irrationally. But it still does!
It puts me off shopping there, I'd sooner go to wilko or b and m

CloseToTheBone · 30/09/2017 21:21

To be fair, calling it Poundland was always going to be a business model with a limited lifespan. Just wait a few years until they rename it Fiverland.

Dancingfairy · 30/09/2017 21:23

Same here as I've noticed they've gradually increased the amount of non pound bits that now it's looking 50:50. Mine is also a "pep and co" so no longer a £ shop really I hadn't even heard of them until they popped up in my local pound shop. Very cheap (not in a good way) clothes.
