To really miss smoking?

MissAlabamaWhitman · 27/09/2017 21:17

I just really, really miss it.

Haven't actually smoked for years, I know it stinks and it kills you unless you're lucky and you die of something else , its a waste of money and suddenly extremely socially unacceptable.

Still......

It was great.....

Yep. I agree. Smoking is lovely (apart from the killing you bit).

MrsJayy · 27/09/2017 21:20

iamapixiebutnotaniceone · 27/09/2017 21:21

I gave up 9 years ago and still miss it!

QuiteChic · 27/09/2017 21:21

But doesn't not being an addict feel even better ? (Sorry if that sounds a preachy - ex-addict myself)

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 27/09/2017 21:21

I vape

constantly so all the habit and none of the guilt , well a bit !

Springersrock · 27/09/2017 21:22

Yes, I miss it too.

I gave up properly smoking years ago but scrounge the odd one now and then - usually when alcohol is being consumed and it's lovely

MissAlabamaWhitman · 27/09/2017 21:22

Well done MJ 👍

I'd like to tell you that the craving goes away. It subsides, will that do?

StrawberryMummy90 · 27/09/2017 21:24

I quit years ago and not a day goes by without me craving badly. I miss it so much if it wasn't for my daughters I would start again in a heartbeat.

TicketyBoo83 · 27/09/2017 21:25

I smoked for 12years and have been off them for 3.
99% of the time they disgust me, the smell turns my stomach and I'm so glad I gave them up.

And then I get days like today where I could murder someone for a fag. This feeling usually coincides with PMS 😆

Schvitzing · 27/09/2017 21:25

I loved smoking.

MagicFajita · 27/09/2017 21:27

I miss it terribly.

That first fag with breakfast , that smoke after a lovely dinner...

I don't want to go back to it though as my lungs feel so much happier and my bank balance is grateful too.

MagicFajita · 27/09/2017 21:29

After breakfast!

Cornettoninja · 27/09/2017 21:32

My breakfast was a cup of coffee and a fag for years, that and a summer lager with a fag are the ones I miss most Sad

I gave up for dd and vape now.... it's okay.

I would have been an excellent mother about 50/60 years ago Grin

MrsJayy · 27/09/2017 21:33

I dont crave all the time like i used to but morning cuppa doesn't taste the same Sad

gamerchick · 27/09/2017 21:36

Yeah, I’m like the fucking bisto kid when a smoker passes me. Totally begrudge those prices though so it ain’t happening.

That’s the only reason I stopped.

CardsforKittens · 27/09/2017 21:37

A sunny afternoon, a beer garden, a pint of Peroni... sort of needs a burning stick of dried carcinogenic vegetation to make things complete.

I don't actually miss it. I just think I do.

WeAllHaveWings · 27/09/2017 21:41

I gave up 14 years ago. I stopped missing it around 5 years ago and I am now vehemently anti smoking. Smell makes me ill/nauseous for hours and I will not stand anywhere near someone smoking without asking them to either put it out or move myself.

elephantoverthehill · 27/09/2017 21:41

The feel of a brand new carton of 20 B&H, the crackle of the wraper as you undid the release strip. And then open. The allure of the gold foil removed to gently waft the smell of anticipation, the unburned tobacco whiff, then to glide a perfect cylinder from the pack etc.
I am completely trying to plagiarize a comedy script but I can't remember the programme.

MrsJayy · 27/09/2017 21:43

It is the habit and feel goodyness you miss i probably wouldn't enjoy smoking . My mum stopped a few months back too poor woman isn't coping well at all

SilverySurfer · 27/09/2017 21:46

I gave up 3 years ago - 8 weeks in hospital on traction finally achieved what my many attempts to give up did not. I still miss it, especially if I'm out and get a whiff of someone else's cigarette. One thing I don't miss is spending silly amounts of money on cigarettes.

LightDrizzle · 27/09/2017 21:48

Congratulations all of you for giving up!
I'm lucky enough to have never started but dad gave up cold turkey after smoking at least 20 Senior Service every day for years. Years later he said he could still murder one!
My poor mum never gave up and has had a terrible few years with COPD with very poor quality of life. She now has lung cancer too which is untreatable because of her existing lung damage. It's no fun.

Grimbles · 27/09/2017 21:49

I miss that first one in the morning, standing in the garden at one with nature. Grin

TheSnowFairy · 27/09/2017 21:50

7 months non smoking here.

Had one on holiday a few weeks back and thought it tasted disgusting.

Was really craving one today though. Can't understand how I would want something I know I won't enjoy and surely it is all out of my system now?! Confused
