To really miss smoking?

MissAlabamaWhitman · 27/09/2017 21:17

I just really, really miss it.

Haven't actually smoked for years, I know it stinks and it kills you unless you're lucky and you die of something else , its a waste of money and suddenly extremely socially unacceptable.

Still......

It was great.....

😔

Why can't they invent something that's exactly the same but without all the shite?! And I don't mean vaping!!!

My sister is a drunk smoker she never smokes but 1 vodka to much and the 10 pack comes out i couldt do that. When my Gràn was alive my aunt would visit twice a year buy a packet of B&H smoke them and not smoke again till her next visit she did that for years

elephantoverthehill · 27/09/2017 22:23

Ah yes Tammy . It was well written.

2017SoFarSoGood · 27/09/2017 22:23

I really miss it too. Not the stink and the nasty taste and the desperate need to get out of meetings/movies/dinner anything to go smoke, nor the dirty looks and hiding from everyone. BUT it was my quiet time. Sit on my deck and smoke, with coffee and a book or my phone or whatever. I miss that quiet time. Can't do it without the cigarettes.

Went cold turkey about 16 months ago, and have no plans to go back to it, but I do miss it.

MissAlabamaWhitman · 27/09/2017 22:26

Oh and smoking definitely had something to do with my former size 8 figure.

grabs handful of thunder thigh in disdain

I didn't mind the weight gain i think i was too skinny but my dh has really struggled with his weight since stopping a year ago .

TammySwansonTwo · 27/09/2017 22:30

I missed it so much I started again. Like a fucking idiot. Do not think you can just have the odd one. You can't.

DrDreReturns · 27/09/2017 22:33

bigtapdancingpimp I used to smoke a few cigs a night on night shift. I did nights for a month then days for a month. On days I didn't smoke at all! My colleagues thought I was crazy, but there was something appealing about having a fag in the middle of the night, I didn't get the urge on days. I was always able to stop srtaight away when I went onto day shift.

elephantoverthehill · 27/09/2017 22:36

Here it is

Areyoufree · 27/09/2017 22:36

I miss it too. Especially in summer. But smoking again would invalidate my life insurance.

Fuck, I'm old.

Onetedisbackinbed · 27/09/2017 22:39

Elephant, I didn't realise I missed it til your poetry to fag packet opening Grin

Titsywoo · 27/09/2017 22:41

I didn't actually gain weight, I lost it. Partly due to the fact that I stopped drinking a couple of glasses of booze a night to stop me from smoking!

3wayburger · 27/09/2017 22:45

I miss it so much.
I smoked for 25 years and stopped a year ago.
I have had 3 cigarettes in that time and they have been while I was drinking drunk

PressForPancakes · 27/09/2017 23:00

I smoked for years and gave up completely. In the last year or so I've started having the odd cig from friends when I'm drunk. Then I started buying my own packets when very pissed and throwing them away in disgust a day or two later.

I can't stand the smell of smoke but I always crave a cigarette or 10 when I'm drunk. I haven't had any for a while now. Terribly for my asthma.

I quit 20 years ago, I’m the only runner I know who runs past pubs inhaling the smoke of those smoking at the doorway, everyone else gives a look of disgust! It was my favourite EVER hobby....

CaoNiMartacus · 27/09/2017 23:24

I miss it too. I bloody loved my rollies.

Timmytoo · 28/09/2017 07:31

I miss it to. Especially after meals and when stressed it was the best stress reliever ever! Also helped with creativity and starting conversations.

TakeThatFuckingDressOffNow · 28/09/2017 07:36

Not had even one puff for 7 years 6 months. I'd bloody miss derba marlboro light. I bet I could smoke it in three drags.

I'm so glad I quit - but when I see other people enjoying them I just remember how satisfying it was.

Mmmmm inhale and phew exhale

falange · 28/09/2017 07:46

I only smoke sometimes. Can go months without one. Then I’ll smoke every day for about a week. But when I do it I love it. No idea why I’ve never been physically addicted to it.

Auldspinster · 28/09/2017 07:48

I gave up 11 years ago and occasionally crave one.

cooliebrown · 28/09/2017 08:18

smoked for 30 years. Hated smoking and hated myself for smoking for 25 of those years. Haven't a smoked for 4 years, 5 months and 18 days. Still find myself gasping for a fag - but don't miss it as such

FindingNormal · 28/09/2017 08:20

12 years and I would still love to light up again. Specially when driving or having a coffee.

ProverbialOuthouse · 28/09/2017 08:24

I gave up smoking, more because of the smell than anything else but now I vape instead. And I vape far more than I ever smoked (constantly when I'm at home!) but I don't miss actual smoking.
