To drink?!

Okay bear with me.
I literally NEVER drink, as me and OH are TTC. Today he has gone to a local pub/restaurant to meet some acquaintances to talk business. I have decided to chill on the sofa whilst my son is glued to some new dvds upstairs.
I am watching Pretty Little Liars and enjoying a very nice bottle or two of wine as spritzers. I updated my status to say 'wine, PLL, and vape, happy Sunday!'
Within minutes I'd received a phone call off my mother to say that I should not be drinking unsupervised whilst in charge of my son. My son is 6, he's has lunch and I am not planning to get smashed. For crying out loud I'm almost 27, am I really not allowed to enjoy a drink on a Sunday afternoon?! For reference, the last time I drank was last year Sad.
So, AIBU?!

Why do you feel the need to put it on facebook?
Who cares?
Fine, enjoy a glass of wine, a vape and a dvd...no one else gives a shit.
You brought this on yourself.

FuckMyUterus · 17/09/2017 14:33

Ruby I might add that our business is vaping related and this status was accompanied by a 'handcheck' which are common on vaping related pages, this wasn't on my personal page.

I don't understand. Are you saying you're having two bottles of wine amount of spritzers? If so, that is binge drinking. And yes it is far too much whilst you're looking after your ds.

Penny4UrThoughts · 17/09/2017 14:34

Ruby, clearly her mother cares, and she can put whatever the fuck she likes on her Facebook.

Yanbu op. Enjoy your wine and your Sunday afternoon, and ignore your mother (and Ruby).

macncheesewithbacon · 17/09/2017 14:35

You can do what you want if you keep off Facebook! Why post?

You must have amazing tolerance, if I drank 1-2 bottles of wine I'd be smashed! Grin

WishfulThanking · 17/09/2017 14:35

And you wrote 'a bottle or two' and bolded the 'or two', so of course YABU and, as the PP said, brought it on yourself by putting that on Facebook

Lovingmybear2 · 17/09/2017 14:35

You have had 2 bottles of wine? Do you mean 2 glasses? Did I read that wrong.Grin

Anyway tell your mum m to butt out. You can put what you like on fb and enjoy your chill day.

Go steady though as you arnt used to drinking and may get s massive hangover.

Lethaldrizzle · 17/09/2017 14:36

Having looked after my dcs whilst both sleep deprived and/or ill on many occasions, i really do not think being mildly drunk is that dissimilar.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 17/09/2017 14:36

2 bottles of wine worth of spritzers is a lot of spritzers! I'm not sure I could drink that much liquid 😂

Lovingmybear2 · 17/09/2017 14:38

Reading it again if you really are getting through two bottles you going for it arnt you! I drink regularly but after 2 bottles I would be ratted.

FuckMyUterus · 17/09/2017 14:38

Okay, admittedly the two bottles of wine was in jest, I don't think I'll even manage 1, as with Lemonade that's gonna be too much fluid Grin
Her concern was more the fact that I'm drinking during the day, apparently it's not acceptable nor appropriate...

RollingGreenMarble · 17/09/2017 14:39

2 bottles is way too much while looking after a child.

2 glasses would be fine

isthistoonosy · 17/09/2017 14:39

I'd guess she means two of the spritzer bottles, so a couple of glasses.

InThisTogether · 17/09/2017 14:41

I think people should pull their knickers out from their bums and help you with a glass or two!
Enjoy OP x

FuckMyUterus · 17/09/2017 14:43

inthis you're more than welcome to a glass or two 🍷 its lovely... Fruit wine!

OP posts:
Lovingmybear2 · 17/09/2017 14:46

Cheees I have just poured oneWine

FuckMyUterus · 17/09/2017 14:49

loving it's not that strong as it's home made fruit wine, however it tastes a little dry to me, that's the only reason I added Lemonade. My OHs mom made it, and she can't drink at all, and apparently managed to drink 3 bottles last weekend without being too pissed 😂

OP posts:
iMatter · 17/09/2017 14:55

Ugh - not lemonade. Far too sweet!

Soda water - lovely.

Smile
TheStoic · 17/09/2017 14:55

Lesson learned - don't put this stuff on FB.

FuckMyUterus · 17/09/2017 14:58

iMatter I love soda water, but only by itself or with some nice blackcurrant cordial

I think posting on face book you were going to drink two bottles of wine is fundamentally the issue here. I'm unsure why you can't see that.Confused.

Albinohedgehogs · 17/09/2017 15:04

That really is a lot of alcahol OP. Are you sure you're not trying to normalise your excessive drinking?

I'll buck the trend, I don't see what's unreasonable about having a drink on a Sunday afternoon whether you have kids or not.

I mean if you're completely shitfaced slurring and wobbling around I can see why that would be frowned upon but I doubt that's quite the case.

Agree with others re facebook, it's a bit like MN, there's always someone ready to pounce whether you're being unreasonable or not.

PurpleDaisies · 17/09/2017 15:07

Most people are saying it's fine to have a drink but just not get totally hammered.

Op I agree with others saying two bottles of wine is a lot of one sitting (it's definitely classed as binge drinking). Nothing wrong with a few small glasses though.
