Ceebeebies is rubbish

Just got back from a weeks holiday in the UK with nearly 3 yo DS. Normally at home if the TVs goes on it's nick Jnr and his favourites include paw patrol, rusty rivers and blaze (the latter 2 quite educational imo!!) as well as princess Nella.

Being in a caravan we had no sky so one rainy afternoon we put on ceebeebees for a bit of a distraction and what a load of tosh!!! Can't believe teletubbies are still going and what the hell sort of trip is in the night garden all about? And don't get me started on the bloody Justin/Mr Tumble monopoly.... the man gives me the creeps!!

Am I the only one that finds it all insipid and twee......

It is brilliant and educational.
Massive, andi, dr ranj, go Jeffers.

The children's channels on sky are the sinister ones.

maxiflump1 · 16/09/2017 09:50

BTW this is a lighthearted post I know there's much more important things in the world to get riled up about! Wink

I was glad when DD outgrew cbeebies just to see the back of Baby Jake and Grandpa in my Pocket. I do miss Mr Bloom though.

YodellingMama · 16/09/2017 09:53

Gosh I think it's way better than godawful paw patrol and co!!

Amanduh · 16/09/2017 09:56

I think cbeebies is SO much better than a lot of the cartoon crap the satellite channels churn out. We love Teletubbies and In the night garden, Bing, numberblocks, Dr Ranj.. there's lot of educational stuff, things for the littler ones too. Cbeebies is the best of the bunch!

Ifailed · 16/09/2017 09:56

Can't believe teletubbies are still going
Why not, it's not like its intended audience will have seen it before?

toomuchtooold · 16/09/2017 09:57

DH paid for the kids' channels last time he redid the cable package (he didn't tell me, I'm too tightfisted to pay for any of that) and the DCs have now locked up the entire cable box with Nick jr. The hard drive is basically just an indexed copy of the entire Nick jr schedule for the summer holidays.

x2boys · 16/09/2017 09:57

Yeah i always thought it was crap too we have always had sky so have always had nick Jr. nickolodean etc .

hidinginthenightgarden · 16/09/2017 09:59

Some of it is better than others. DD loves teletubbies, DS has outgrown a lot of it.

Mr tumble was in the news this week as he has been signing what he thought was "I'm happy to see you" but someone has said he is actually signing "i'm fucking you".

Wreckingball25 · 16/09/2017 10:00

YABU on the grounds that Hey Duggee is ace 🐶 Smile

megletthesecond · 16/09/2017 10:00

Yabu. Cbeebies is genius programming.

loveulotslikejellytots · 16/09/2017 10:01

I just prefer CBeebies because there are no bloody adverts for more plastic crap toys!

x2boys · 16/09/2017 10:02

Can't stand Mr tumble and his patronising something special and I have a child with special needs and goes to a special school they are using some of the kids from ds school for the next series apparently.

Lovingmybear2 · 16/09/2017 10:02

Disagree it's great. My grandchildren love it.

I could do filthy things to Mr Bloom.

You don't know you're born op when we had our first baby in 1989 there was no kids TV in the morning!!! None!! Thank god for a video recorder. Cost us £400 then but well worth it.

If you need to google what that was feel free. Grin

maxiflump1 · 16/09/2017 10:02

Ifailed because it was shit 20 years ago.... I just fail to see how it and ITNG can be in any way beneficial to kids development: they don't even make any grammatical sense

x2boys glad it's not just me!!

The good thing about cbeebies is that there are no adverts. The five year old I look after still loves watching octonauts and go jetters and he's learnt quite a bit from watching them.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 16/09/2017 10:03

I dont mind CBeebies we like alpha/numberblocks, Dr Ranj, Time for School & Katie Morag. From DisneyJnr Sophia the First. All of it has the ability to annoy though.

maxiflump1 · 16/09/2017 10:03

Loving I am pushing 40 so remember a VHS very well!!!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 16/09/2017 10:04

*don't

Needingsomeadvice · 16/09/2017 10:06

Nope, YABU, CBeebies is fabulous and after having about 10 years of watching it I am still happy with it. They do have lots of fresh and new stuff. Teletubbies has only just come back - it's an all new series. We have tried other channels in the past but found them stifling. My DD is almost 8 but still likes it (she is on the autism spectrum and trusts it will always be pleasant and nothing to worry about, so she until recently wouldn't watch anything else!). We also love Dr Ranj here and he's helped DD feel a bit happier about the doctors. And no adverts for the pester power!

maxiflump1 · 16/09/2017 10:06

Ok so maybe I am being a bit unfair as I didn't keep it on long enough to see some of these other more educational shows you all mention.... after the few shows we did watch DH and I couldn't stand it any longer?

EdmundCleverClogs · 16/09/2017 10:07

Shock whilst there is a load of shite on there (Topsy and Tim, Kate and Mim Mim, Boj), all is forgiven for the excellence that is Hey Duggee. It's by country mile the best of the young children programs on at the moment (and I'm so grateful my toddler isn't into Paw Patrol, that's awful).

Is this just a weird stealth brag about having Sky TV?

Lovingmybear2 · 16/09/2017 10:09

maxi

Pushing 40 you lucky bugger Grin

I think the idea is for the kids to watch it while the adults get on with other jobs/drink wine. Your mistake was watching it with your children. Fatal Grin

Lovingmybear2 · 16/09/2017 10:10

Edmund grandson loves Hey Duggie. Grin

Tipsy Tim Mum and Dad are an abomination

x2boys · 16/09/2017 10:11
