To be fed up of Instamums

I followed a few of the more well-known Instamums but got weary of the constant daily barrage of brand endorsements. I can't relate to people on £100k a year in Farrow & Ball houses. I just can't. So I had to unfollow em all, every one. AIBU to feel a bit miffed that these people are using the idea of sisterhood to make money? They're not our friends, they're just there to sell us stuff that we probably don't need anyway.

Let's not forget the obligatory CRAAAAAZY shoes! Gold and shiny? Pom poms? Tassels? Oh yes. Must have.

Ovaries I'm finding it different in the Disabled Children niche. Obviously it doesn't interest/reach the masses as we're a minority group but everything I've seen so far has been positive. I'm sure there is hate somewhere though, sadly. I hate bitching so the first sign of that they'll be shut down!

I'd happily review medical equipment, special needs clothing, anything to make our lives easier but no, I'll not drink green goo and profess to wear twatty shoes because they reduce crows feet! I'm a genuine person, I'm there to tell our story and share our wisdom of ten years at the job. Waiting for school to restart so I can get the blog going, I'm excited.

FODs ego is out of control. He's got a special announcement about why he's getting malaria tablets and is keeping us all on the edge of our seats until he puts us out of our misery.

That's another thing I hate about insta parenting. The special announcements/really exciting news...

I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned Anna from Saccone Jolys. One of the original instamummys I think. They expose their children A LOT, and although I am not anti Insta by any means, I do think they are a prime example of the ones exploiting their DC.

The ones I read all Seem to "feature" on each others blogs/instagrams whatever so it'll be like "this week we're lucky to have 'Miss-mummy-body-positivity' share her story about how she combines Pilates, interior design business and raising 2 beautiful girls.
Then the next week they seem to swap.
But I just don't get it- is this to help promote one another's businesses and so many of their businesses seem completely unviable...
I feel like I'm missing something!!!

That's the best attitude to have IMO. Some of my favourite bloggers (and the people I considered my best blogging friends) are now practically unrecognisable because it's #ad after #spon after #ad. We've had some great things to review - toys my DD has loved, days out we've really enjoyed and a holiday that I really felt we could do a good review of because we're a low-income family and it was good to review it from the perspective of, "could a family like us afford this?".

Then there were the things we didn't need and the blatant sponsored posts but when I go back to it, I'm going back to basics.

The only people who seem to do the #bodypositive stuff are women with pretty fab figures. Like stylemesunday. Lots of shots of her looking hot as hell in underwear/swimwear tagged with all the body positive/confidence/love your flaws stuff.

Ovaries Interesting to get an insiders perspective; I can definitely see the appeal of going for every #ad and #spon that comes calling, but from the ones I follow it has definitely changed them from genuine run of the mill parent stuff to full on salespeople / marketeers. I'd love to read your stuff if you're willing to out.

Had I done this years ago I wouldn't have the conviction to be going in knowing what I want out of it. What I most want, more than anything, is to educate. To show that perhaps on paper, our lives are terrible. A list of medical conditions and hardship. In reality, DD is the happiest child I know! She's innocent, joyful. She's boisterous and behaves like a four and a half foot toddler when she's frustrated but she's more than a 'poor child' and 'isn't it a shame'

My instaAim is for inclusion, to show people what life is like, not all a bed of roses but the joy is amplified. It's how to enjoy life knowing you're living on bonus time. If anything happens to her, which it may, I want her to have made a smiling mark on this world! (Without selling herself out to the sheeple)

Yes exactly this. There's that "body positive panda" woman who whilst a size 14/16 still had a lovely hourglass figure and gorgeous skin and face etc. It's all so phoney. And all the other mum blogs promote them.

FoD is doing what he's doing because lots and lots of people like him, hence 700,000 followers.

I don't know.. he is quite funny. The ad stuff makes me cringe though. I hope it is a charity thing!

How do people have the time to be so invested in other people's lives though? I struggle to manage my own.

There's one in particular I loathe. I know of her via a friend and it is all fake. Well very very edited. She's a spoiled little nobody, but she's found her niche and does very well out of it. I deigned once to gently pick her up on something and she blocked me! Only sycophants allowed to follow! Don't want to sully the brand!

I hope they're doing something worthwhile, like the Coppafeel Oman trek. Rather than another feckin freebie holiday.
