Mama don't get sucked into the "Like for like", "comment for comment" crap, and don't let people play the follow/unfollow game with you (where they follow you, you follow back, then they unfollow you to boost their stats). Unless you're interested in someone's content, don't follow them! It clogs up your newsfeed.
Do follow similar blogs. Look at the hashtags they use and the conversations they participate in, and use those hashtags. Try to start discussions with the things you post - what you want is followers who will engage with you and learn from your posts, rather than just passive views and likes :) Your insta sounds brilliant, I've just followed :)
Dozy There's definitely a marked shift once someone "sells out", I noticed it in myself. I was writing just for the sake of writing; literally scouring Facebook mum pages for subjects to write about, to try and keep myself more "relevant" to bring the opportunities in.
The actual blog is dormant at the moment but when I revive it, I want to get back to writing the sort of stuff I write for HuffPost, which is here (ignore the bio, I need to update it - I'm no longer 22 and no longer a "freelance writer", by which I meant desperate blogger
).
