To want to shoot my friend

liverbird10 · 15/08/2017 12:46

...for naming his daughter Tinkerbell?

I know I am actually BU as it's none of my business etc. Also shooting people is generally not the way to approach such matters.

I feel so sorry for the poor kid. She's going to go through torture at school. Not to mention thee rest of her life. Imagine a high court judge called Tinkerbell.

Not my taste but I wouldn't refuse to give someone a job based on it!

Threads like this make me see why taking names off CVs makes sense. I might introduce it where I work.

LetLoveWin · 15/08/2017 13:53

@lil72 Zizi will be sorely giggled at if she ever goes to France!

Perfectly1mperfect · 15/08/2017 13:53

the dad has an obsession with fictional fairies.

GrinShockConfused Funniest sentence I have read in a while !

splendide · 15/08/2017 13:54

I like the fact that you clarified that his interest was in fictional faeries, not real ones.

Sparklingbrook · 15/08/2017 13:55

If you take names off CVs you can always reject them at the interview stage. Grin

potatoscowls · 15/08/2017 13:57

haha thats my mum's nickname for me. im a large brunette though so not sure why...

NerrSnerr · 15/08/2017 13:57

Wonder if the mum is on here? I'd be devastated if a friend had started a thread mocking my baby's name, especially when so hormonal in the early days.

Mumofazoo · 15/08/2017 13:57

My dogs name is Tinkerbelle Grin

thekillers · 15/08/2017 13:58

my friend just called her baby girl Zizi surname also starts with Z

After the restaurant chain? Was she conceived there?

I know an adult Tinkerbelle. I would say that it affects her professional credibility.

IamNotDarling · 15/08/2017 13:59

Eh? What's wrong with Denzil?

Tinkerbell - poor child. I doubt she'll be the only one at school with a name that the adults roll their eyes at. I've come across a Zelda recently. As in Zelda the Nintendo computer game character.

thekillers · 15/08/2017 13:59

@lil72 Zizi will be sorely giggled at if she ever goes to France!

I though the the same!

liverbird10 · 15/08/2017 14:00

perfectly, spendide Grin To be fair, I nearly typed ''literary fairies'' but thought best to be specific.

I think if I were the mum and saw this thread, eventually I'd be eternally grateful to OP for giving me a figurative slap round the chops and making me realise what an utterly dreadful name this is.

xTinkerhellx · 15/08/2017 14:02

I like it Grin

liverbird10 · 15/08/2017 14:02

NerrSnerr Fear not, they look down on Mumsnet and think this place is below them, so baby's Mum will not be upset by the thread.

...as opposed to...real ones?

That poor wee child.

MimsyFluff · 15/08/2017 14:07

Is the fairy registered as that name? I can't see how that would of gone through. My mums cat is called Tinkerbell are they having you on?

VladmirsPoutine · 15/08/2017 14:07

That poor child. Does she have a 'normal' middle name or something?

My first name is a bit twatish but I have a few normal middle names that I go by. My first name is London

Ellie56 · 15/08/2017 14:12

It's at times like this that you realise that places like France, where you are only allowed to register names that are officially approved, might actually have a point.

Ellie56 · 15/08/2017 14:14

When we got our cat from the rescue centre, she was called Tinkerbelle. We thought it was an appalling name fotr a cat, never mind a child. We changed it fairly smartish.

pasturesgreen · 15/08/2017 14:14

Jesus Christ Shock

Zelda is fine, I expect most people's first thought won't be the computer game.

PoppyPopcorn · 15/08/2017 14:16

Bloody awful name. Has she got a middle name? Something sensible like Sarah or Amy maybe??

Poor child.

DoomGloomAndKaboom · 15/08/2017 14:18

He's not even my friend and I want to shoot him.

Poor poor child. In eighteen years' time they will be all sad and huffy because Tinkerbell has changed her name to Janet.

Go Janet!

TheLittleShirt · 15/08/2017 14:22

I used to work with a lady who was known as Tink, she had many piercings and tattoos. It was a couple of years before I realised her actual name was Tinkerbelle and I am sure this is why she made her self look nothing like a Tinkerbelle.
