We had just moved into our house and we're trying to decide on the decor. He suggested taking off the wooden bedroom doors and putting glazed doors up instead with curtains on them!!?? In what world would that be attractive/good decor? It's fucking hideous! Like something from the 40s. This was 5 years ago and it still makes me angry when I think about it.

Oh op that is quite funny. I know how you feel though Grin

Butterymuffin · 13/08/2017 21:45

OK.. But this hasn't happened.. has he ever mentioned it again?

Peachyking000 · 13/08/2017 21:45

I was expecting this to be a negative comment about your weight/clothes/cooking or something Grin

YABU - I quite like retro stuff

Surely he said it as a joke? Surely? Desperately clutching at straws here...

In your position, I wouldn't be angry, I'd be seriously worried for him.

Wanderlust81 · 13/08/2017 21:46

He's never mentioned it again since I ripped him a new one the first time. I can't understand why he even said it!? I mean where the hell did he get such a hideous idea??!

Assuming you won?

Love this. Makes me realise my DH isn't the only one with truly appalling ideas.

ThomasRichard · 13/08/2017 21:49

That's very funny OP. Thanks for the chuckle Grin I think we all have our moments of madness.

raffle · 13/08/2017 21:49

YANBU OP. I expect you were fuming at the time. You are angry five years later. In another five years you will be quite cross. Until eventually (in about 30 years), you will be able to recall the situation and only feel slightly miffed.

Wanderlust81 · 13/08/2017 21:50

No he wasn't even joking. If he'd said it as a joke I would have found it hilarious as it's just so utterly horrible but the fact that he was being serious gives me the rage.

I mean there's retro and there's prehistoric.

Ooh theres a hilarious meme about this. Something like Madonna turns up at your nan's door?

EllaHen · 13/08/2017 21:50

Why not? Have you seen this Chewin' The Fat? sketch?

NancyJoan · 13/08/2017 21:51

LTB, it's the only way.

MorrisZapp · 13/08/2017 21:52

Sorry op, I think it's hysterical that you're still angry about this after 5 years! Grin

MissHemsworth · 13/08/2017 22:01

OP this has made me laugh. My DH quite often makes equally ridiculous suggestions.

So we have a sunken decking area at the end of our garden with sleepers round the sides. He decided the other day that he wanted to cut a big hole in our lovely sleepers & the dirt/garden behind it to make a pizza oven Hmm All very well & good but he has no idea how to make a pizza oven/has never made one before, so if it went wrong (which there's a good chance it would as he's not especially handy) our nice decking area would be a bit ruined. did suggest he learns how to make one first, otherwise no. He was quite narky & sulked for the rest of the day.

Pigface1 · 13/08/2017 22:04

Bloody pervert. Leopards don't change their spots. LTB.

PacificDogwod · 13/08/2017 22:04

"A while back'?
A while back?

Water/bridge/under comes to mind.

You need to let go Grin

Sayhellotothemoomoos · 13/08/2017 22:07

I'm trying to imagine how glazed internal doors with curtains would look.

OhMrBadger · 13/08/2017 22:08

I feel your pain. I caught DH discussing with his parents about how he could make useful storage shelves for videos (this was a looong time ago) out of bricks and bits of chipboard. Fool.

yorkshireyummymummy · 13/08/2017 22:08

Christ. I wish this was the sort of stuff I had to worry and getangry about. Please, OP, get some perspective. He had a bad idea about internal decoration.............it's hardly like shagging your sister is it??

WeAllHaveWings · 13/08/2017 22:11

Reminds me of both my grans houses in the 1970s, they both had rather nice bathroom doors with frosted glass. I used to go to the toilet with the lights out so no one could see me.
