And starting off with John Oliver's summary of the week, in case anyone missed the previous thread.

Miller Minion
The Donald Trump Jr of Presidents.
Maybe a rope. Get me all ropes directive.

Marvellous! Thank you, Microwave!

I tried to start a new thread, but didn't get past chewing my pencil over a title...Grin

Roussette · 07/08/2017 09:04

Many thanks Microwave, great thread title!

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 07/08/2017 09:10

Thank you microwave.

TheClaws · 07/08/2017 09:15

Thank you Microwave. I'm not sure if this was posted very early after DT was elected, but it still worthy of reflection and quite relevant IMO.

BiglyBadgers · 07/08/2017 09:15

Hello everyone. I've been off camping for the last week. Back now and just feeling strong enough to join the madness again. Blimey. Wink

A really good article in the Guardian.

cozietoesie · 07/08/2017 09:30

Thanks, Microwave. Smile

TheClaws · 07/08/2017 09:43

annandale I, for one, feel very comforted he's currently in his safe space Grin

Roussette · 07/08/2017 09:49

But I don't think he'll go quiet because he's at his golfing resort. It rankles everyone is accusing him on twitter of all these golf breaks and now this 17 day holiday (hence why he tweets that it wasn't a holiday!) so I think we should be prepared for some shit that looks like work to come out of him. Just to prove he does spend half an hour at a desk there.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/08/2017 09:55

morning!

Lweji · 07/08/2017 09:58

It must be a reactive holiday to the Senate. They are going on recess, and won't keep trying to pass the Deathcare Bill, but not enough that he can appoint anyone to be the new GA. Bastards.

Lweji · 07/08/2017 10:06

The who's who of GOP opposition to Trump.

Natsku · 07/08/2017 10:07

Thanks for the new thread microwave

I wouldn't mind if Trump-related craziness slows down for a bit now while he's on his not-a-holiday as its just been a bit too crazy and I haven't been able to keep up.

lionheart · 07/08/2017 10:48

He has a lot of thinking to do and he will find it hard so he needs a vacation.

golf with Trump

BossyBitch · 07/08/2017 10:54

Checking in. I'm crap at golf actually at work so back later.

lionheart · 07/08/2017 11:09

Thanks for the new thread and lovely title Microwave.

Back to dawdling work.

'The golf club is home to a herd of goats'.

Lweji · 07/08/2017 11:18

You left out the most interesting bits, lion. Grin

"Trump's golf club is built on the site of the late DeLorean's estate. DeLorean is best known as the founder of the DeLorean Motor Company, whose DMC-12 model rose to fame for its role in the "Back to the Future" films."

"A goat herd, as well as a hay farming and woodcutting operation on the property, allows Trump to qualify for New Jersey's farmland tax break. (...) the president may pay less than $1,000 a year in taxes on properties that would regularly cost him about $80,000 a year in taxes."

PerkingFaintly · 07/08/2017 11:18

That Guardian article about the Seth Rich conspiracy also points out that Spicey is a liar in his own right, not just on behalf of 45.

"Spicer, the president’s former press secretary who resigned last month, confirmed to NPR that he was informed about the Fox story a month before it was posted, undercutting his own statement to the press on the day of publication that he was 'not aware' of the story.

saffronwblue · 07/08/2017 12:15

Lovely new thread and you lot are a respite after I got getting overinvested in troll threads and their aftermath. At least we know where we are with Trump and nothing can be worse than we have already imagined.
