Seriously??

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 01/08/2017 14:25

My God Pain. That story is appalling.

Lweji · 01/08/2017 14:43

By someone who's not in charge of the US right now.
There's someone who is in charge of the US right now?

I said that Hillary wasn't in charge of the US, not that anyone else was. Wink Maybe Bannon.

Lweji · 01/08/2017 14:57

Hannity asked if the GOP leadership in Congress, particularly the Senate, should be replaced...

It could backfire on Trump, though. GOP might decide that it's finally time for Pence.

PerkingFaintly · 01/08/2017 15:14

Wow! about the latest development re the Seth Rich conspiracy.

I've just reminded myself from the Wikipedia article, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Seth_Rich, who Rod Wheeler is, ie one of the key propagators of the conspiracy.

And now he's bringing a lawsuit against Fox News claiming they faked quotes from him. Although as he actually appeared on Fox News, clearly not all were faked.

Is this the rats turning on each other?

AcrossthePond55 · 01/08/2017 15:50

It wouldn't surprise me to see this happen. Maybe not today, but at some point unless someone shoots Scrotus with the political (or blackmail) equivalent of an elephant tranquilizer and makes him behave. I think the GOP feels that Pence is a bit too 'religious right' to be completely rational but that he knows 'the rules of the game' of political give and take. His anti-woman and pro-intolerance views scare me, but I do believe that he understands where the line is drawn in the sand as far as what Congress and the GOP will tolerate. Scrotus doesn't.

The Orange Menace's latest gem:

@realDonaldTrump 50 minutes ago
Only the Fake News Media and Trump enemies want me to stop using Social Media (110 million people). Only way for me to get the truth out!

Since basically everyone wants him to stop tweeting already, I assume pretty much everyone is an enemy at this point? Not that it'd surprise me to hear that this is, in fact, his opinion.

Before that, he was going on about how the stock market was rallying yet again and how corporations had never made so much money before. Wasn't he railing against corporations at some point? I'm starting to lose track!

cozietoesie · 01/08/2017 15:56

He views Wall St as some sort of 'pure' validation. Lord help him when it crashes.

AcrossthePond55 · 01/08/2017 16:13

What '110 million people' is he bleating about?

badbadhusky · 01/08/2017 16:15

Number of Twitter followers?

Lweji · 01/08/2017 16:16

For some reason Eric Trump included rising oil prices as a good outcome of Trump's Presidency.
Or rather "oil" "good things" - not sure he wanted to tell the average american that a price increase is good for them.
Who is it good for?

Lweji · 01/08/2017 16:21

He has less than 35 million on Twitter.
A large percentage probably also follows him on Facebook (

lionheart · 01/08/2017 16:23

legal background to the story

BossyBitch · 01/08/2017 16:26

Maybe he's being unintentionally honest and means the just over 1/3 Americans who still actually support him? Hmm

BossyBitch · 01/08/2017 16:32

Actually, found it:

It's the number of followers he apparently has across all social media platforms. Poor Spicey was forced to brag about it to the press corps at one stage:

www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2017/06/06/no-donald-trump-doesnt-have-110-million-people-following-him-on-social-media/?utm_term=.fea1e8ac6e39

Now, obviously, the overlap must be significant: I'm still only one person no matter how many services I use to follow him, so the number is arguably somewhat off ...

AcrossthePond55 · 01/08/2017 16:34

Ha Bossy, you may be right there!

It really would be interesting to know what the actual number of 'real' followers are vs the followers who are media and people who follow him for laughs or such.

If people who follow would instead follow @UnfollowTrump on Twitter then we might be able to get an accurate count. They repost all his tweets. Right now they have 49K followers (including me). But that's 49K people NOT giving Scrotus the impression that they are 'fans'.

AcrossthePond55 · 01/08/2017 16:35

twitter.com/UnfollowTrump

cozietoesie · 01/08/2017 16:38

Have a look at the 'likes' and 'retweets', Across.

Lweji · 01/08/2017 16:39

Apparently jobs figures went from fake to real on the 20th January. It's a miracle of the Lord! (read with Sessions' voice)

BossyBitch · 01/08/2017 16:44

If people who follow would instead follow @UnfollowTrump on Twitter then we might be able to get an accurate count.

I'm in tech, and I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you terribly: if this actually happened and led to a significant fall in followers, the more fanatical ones would just set up fake accounts to make up for it. In no other presidency would this ever have happened, but it would in this one because SM followers are now apparently a source of political legitimacy.

It's ridiculously easy to set up, too. I keep on wanting to set up a twitter bot that replies "it's going to be okay, my father never loved me, either" to whatever Uday, Qusay or Barbie tweet.

...

Talking tech, though: how insane is the fake email story? I can't believe the hoaxer even got the security guy to reply. My firm virtually spams us with phishing test mails and mandatory trainings; I would have expected the WH to be at least as cautious!

Lweji · 01/08/2017 16:46

Uday, Qusay

Grin

I didn't realise it was a thing.

Lweji · 01/08/2017 16:48

I would have expected the WH to be at least as cautious!

At least after the DNC was ridiculously hacked.

cozietoesie · 01/08/2017 16:49

I would have imagined that they were. Wink

BossyBitch · 01/08/2017 16:51

not only a thing but a #1 ranked thing as of 2 minutes ago: Grin

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 01/08/2017 16:59

I'm an unfollower across. I can't bring myself to show him even then smallest modicum of perceived support
