Dog bowl cleaning

To not expect people to not put a dog bowl which the dog has just ate from in the dishwasher with humans plates for washing? Anyone else think it's a gross thing to do? Or is it my OCD? Thanks!

I always do this. Dishwashers clean at a high enough temp to remove any germs.

I do it and I think I am quite a clean person, it's a very hot temperature. Mind you, I have heard of people putting a potty in theirs

Have always washed separately but due to size of 3 dog bowls. .
They eat meat not a toxic substance so can't see the problem of putting it in the dishwasher.

Not like it's a cat litter tray or a toilet brush. (other thread on atm)

I'm not sure why it would be any different to anything else?

I know the food is ok. It's the fact the dogs aren't particularly clean, like licking their genitals etc and then their mouth is on the bowl and this goes in with the humans bowls and the water all swishes around together as it's cleans. Maybe it's me lol

Have you got a ds /dh coz they are known to scratch their balls too!!??

Meaning surely if you put something in there that had raw chicken on then that's probably bacteria more likely to make you ill.

I tend to give a mini wash in the sink pre dishwasher with things like that though

Humans are probably just as riddled with germs tbh, I still occasionally think about that cleaning program when they swabbed bath tubs and surfaces of toothbrushes

I think it's gross. I clean ours outside usually, wiping it with a piece of kitchen roll then splooshing with water. It's the thought of it being in the dishwasher that I find revolting.

Wonder if dogs watch their bowl go in the dishwasher and think it horrible it's washed with all the humans stuff.

After all dogs lick their own genitals but humans lick/suck other humans genitals!

I don't have a dishwasher (or a dog) so the cat bowl just gets washed in the washing up bowl when everything else has been done. It wouldn't occur to me to wash it separately, especially if I had a dishwasher!

If you trust your dishwasher to wash chopping boards and get rid of salmonella and e coli, I hardly think a bit of dog lick is going to be a problem.

Mine go in the dishwasher with everything else.

Yuck. Animal bowls kept separate from human stuff here. We don't eat off the same plates so why wash them together.

Oh no. We don't share. She's 50kg at 10 months. Start as I mean to go on. My food is MY food.
She can however reach to put her nose on the work surfaces so don't know why I'm being so precious?!

I give our dogs bowl a quick rinse in the sink and then it goes in the dishwasher.

Yeah I put mine in the dishwasher as otherwise I worry it won't be clean enough to stop the dog getting sick- just rinsing with water can leave a film behind that grows bacteria quite quickly. Plus as @Justhadmyhaircut points out, there are other forum users who currently want to put their fricking toilet brush and cat litter tray in the dishwasher... now THAT'S gross!!! 🤢
