Am I a horrible snob?
Here are mine:
Bowls of pebbles on coffee table (why?)
Black and diamanté furniture
Photos printed onto canvas (CRAP quality just get a good photographic print and frame it!)
Those shiny duvet sets and cushions
Fire surround but no fire place (not) even a hole in the wall!

Those who hate wooden words/letters - I have 'POO' in the downstairs loo.

Is that ok?

OxfordshireLass · 16/07/2017 23:22

Ihaveto completely with you on the Orla Kelly print. I don't know why I dislike it but I do.

Others include:
magnolia paint
non-white bedding
mirrored furniture
shiny kitchen cupboards
shiny floor tiles (you must be permanently cleaning)
vases full of twigs
clutter
TVs as a focal point

MaryLennoxsScowl · 16/07/2017 23:23

I have grey walls (though not the whole house), a feature wall and subway tiles with black grout. I love all of them! Grin And I'm dying to get rid of my bedroom carpet (though this is largely because it was here when we bought the place and smells funny) and I'd put up wallpaper if I could face the hassle.

My pet peeve is interiors blogs that say 'here's how to style a bookcase' and then they have 6 books on it and the rest is ornaments. I have at least a thousand books, get to fuck with your 'tasteful' bookshelf posts.

OxfordshireLass · 16/07/2017 23:24

WellErrr I have 'vole' in my living room as I refuse to have the expected 'love' but the letters were a gift and I feel that I should display them. Is this ok too?

CarbonMint · 16/07/2017 23:24

Those plastic topiary balls for outside the front door.
Just why?
And once you spot them, you realise they are everywhere, taking over.

DirigiblePlums · 16/07/2017 23:25

I hate too many ornaments dotted around gathering shit, brown roller blinds with flowers on, tiny pointless rugs which are just a little fluffy square in the middle of the room. Oh and pelmets 😷

misit · 16/07/2017 23:26

I can't have long curtains in a bay window with deep windowsills. Like most houses the radiator is underneath as well.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 16/07/2017 23:28

OxfordshireLass VOLE is delightful!

thenightsky · 16/07/2017 23:28

Ketzele We have floor level lights under the kitchen cupboards. They are the only think we've found that stops the night time slug invasion!

321zerobaby · 16/07/2017 23:28

I really dislike pictures hung at different heights, say 2 pictures next to each other, but one higher than the other.

ghostyslovesheets · 16/07/2017 23:29

swaggs - and giant TV's

as in my near neighbours house ...

MaQueen · 16/07/2017 23:29

Brown shiny leather sofas. Especially L shaped ones.

Any twigs or pebblely shit.

Large floral feature walls.

Hot tubs.

Laminate flooring.

Those big, bendy kitchen taps that look like they belong in an abbatoir.

Identikit IKEA prints on every wall.

Lurid, sequinned bedding with matching glittery scatter cushions and curtains.

Those weird wall mounted pebble fires.

Disproportionately large TVs.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 16/07/2017 23:29

thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mYA8lMwWhbEf9pOizKXq7ew.jpg don't know if this will work but these.

Lynnm63 · 16/07/2017 23:31

Oh dear. I think I may be drummed out of Mumsnet.
I have a grey bathroom - I love it
Canvas prints
Large clock in kitchen however it's practical as I can see it from the hallway
Leather sofa but it's the only one the dog is allowed on
Black granite worktops I love them. I wreck laminate ones
Framed family photos

I draw the line at glittery shite, fairy lights, slogans on walls and tacky words or mr and Mrs shite, pelmets or piles of cushions

Nightshirt · 16/07/2017 23:32

Black, white and diamanté colour scheme...

Trollspoopglitter · 16/07/2017 23:33

Ghosty, while that house is like a bingo card for this thread, it's a bit shite for you to put up someone's home for public ridicule.

Nightshirt · 16/07/2017 23:33

I am partial to a twig..

UsedtobeFeckless · 16/07/2017 23:35

Be careful what you wish for ... l have an attic bedroom now painted entirely in black gloss, with a giant ziggurat of Dr Pepper cans taking up most of one wall and a Grim Reaper duvet cover ( Grim Sleeper? ) Accessorised with a needy torteshell cat of uncertain provenance and a chilli plant called Bazza.

HiJenny35 · 16/07/2017 23:36

Those poems or saying stickers that stick on to painted walls. Things like 'love every moment, laugh everyday, live every moment, love beyond words'

quizqueen · 16/07/2017 23:37

'interesting' photo books on the coffee table
plastic/silk flowers
too many family/kids photos on display
throws on the settee for the smelly dogs to lie on
too many cushions
built in appliances

BarbedBloom · 16/07/2017 23:37

All of my kitchen stuff matches because I had to buy it all at once. We moved in with nothing and I just bought one of those sets from Amazon as it was good value.

I also hate magnolia blandness with no personality anywhere. It looks like a home is always up for sale. I do like things to be the same wood though, couldn't stand living in a room where things clashed.

UsedtobeFeckless · 16/07/2017 23:38

Oh bum, that was @zeezeek ... Thread's too fast!

ghostyslovesheets · 16/07/2017 23:39

it's on rightmove - I'm sure we could link to lots of examples - who knows someone might buy it having seen it here - I'm not going to worry too much :)

ShowMeWhatYouGot · 16/07/2017 23:40

Glittered walls
Stupid wall paper
Swags
Painted wooden floors

Octavia74 · 16/07/2017 23:40

Leather chesterfields are gorgeous!
