Am I a horrible snob?
Here are mine:
Bowls of pebbles on coffee table (why?)
Black and diamanté furniture
Photos printed onto canvas (CRAP quality just get a good photographic print and frame it!)
Those shiny duvet sets and cushions
Fire surround but no fire place (not) even a hole in the wall!

I haven't read the whole thread and I appreciate this is not in the spirit of what would you do , but this makes me giggle. Apologies if already posted

Never been into wall murals but now want to put this on loo ceiling.

PeroxideBosco · 19/07/2017 17:12

I quite like that. I like when people go a bit bonkers when decorating little rooms like bathrooms and loos.

TheFallenMadonna · 19/07/2017 17:17

My PIL use very cheap wallpaper. They also put in uPVC Windows before the house was listed Shock 16th Century house, white uPVC Windows. Which didn't fit properly, so you could feel the breeze coming in around the edge.

Steviea88 · 19/07/2017 17:22

I can't stand houses with a multitude of colours that just look like someone has opened the door and chucked a rainbow at it.
I also hate pegs with a zillion and one coats on near the front door as if everyone in the family needs 5 coats downstairs each.
Net curtains too.
Kitchens with every pot and pan and utensil on show, hanging from the wall or ceiling.
Lampshades for ceiling lights

I am one of those matchy matchy people.
I like sterile.
I like clean
and I like tidy.
I lovewhite, and I like mirrored furniture and chandeliers.
I also have a crushed velvet bed and false flowers in a vase Shock

Anatidae · 19/07/2017 17:32

I like yours actually laurie period properties can take stronger colours and papers.

I'm just going to leave this here ... I actually cried laughing he first time I saw this blog terriblerealestateagentphotos.com

TheHiphopopotamus · 19/07/2017 17:42

This was drawn to my attention on a similar interior design thread. It 'critiques' some of the more pretentious interior trends http://fuckyournoguchicoffeetable.tumblr.com/

DagenhamRoundhouse · 19/07/2017 17:45

What about singing Big Mouth Billy Bass?

Retro piscine chic.

LowMaintenance101 · 19/07/2017 17:57

GhostyLoveSheets- just........wow!!!!
There's a LOT going on in your neighbor's house.

AlwaysWashing · 19/07/2017 22:21

Crap, I'm a disaster then!
Grey sofa, 3 very pale grey walls, 1 duck egg wall. Curtains and cushions (not matching) that pick up those colours. Even a couple of scented candles in said colours.
Shells (collected from every holiday we've ever been on) in olive wood bowls.
A couple of dangly hearts with wry comments about mess and kids.
A beech kitchen with a shabby chic dresser in it.

Do I love my home? Fuck yes!

StorminaBcup · 19/07/2017 22:31

Anatidae

What the actual fuck Shock.

The only thing I really don't understand is people not having lamps and sitting in a room with just the centre light on; lamps without a centre light on make any room cosy and welcoming. I guess I also don't understand people who just put furniture in a room without any thought, like they just 'exist' in a house; your home should be your comforting refuge and somewhere you find pleasant to be and where you want to be, whatever your style is.
The only other thing I would add is that I don't think the interior and exterior have to match; I doubt anyone grows up dreaming of living in a 60s terrace (like I do, because that's what I can afford) but you make the inside what you want it to be, character comes from the people living their and their tastes, not the property itself. Likewise I know people in traditional from the outside thatched cottage, with a stunning sleek minimalist interior.

morningconstitutional2017 · 20/07/2017 13:59

I'm not keen on vertical blinds - they look like an office - my sister and MIL have them but I wouldn't dare comment.

MIL also has an aluminium framed front door which 'is no bother on the maintenance front' but is so ugly.

Through-lounges - I'd rather have a bigger kitchen as I mentioned earlier.

missmove38 · 20/07/2017 14:14

I've got the beech kitchen..but I rent and tbh compared to some it's amazing!!

I have no quotes or pops of colour as such! and get told my house is so nicely done. The agents when they did an inspection actually emailed to say how nice it was!

Redredredrose · 20/07/2017 14:21

I read a lot and find lamps don't provide enough light to stop me getting eyestrain in the evenings. I hate sitting half in the dark - it's gllomy, not cosy, to me.

MrsFring · 20/07/2017 15:57

How about this? A pre- incinerated sofa.

To ask your interior design pet hates?
MaQueen · 20/07/2017 16:37

I'm not keen on the beech kitchen, shiny black faux granite tops and brushed steel appliances look... it just screams 'bland rental' to me.

LadyinCement · 20/07/2017 17:12

Woman down the road proudly showed me her new kitchen. It was all stainless steel, including work surfaces. All the appliances hidden in uniform stainless steel cabinets with no handles. I felt like pulling a body out of a drawer, rolling my sleeves up and doing an autopsy in there.

MaQueen · 20/07/2017 17:15

Ah, yes 'Abbatoir Chic' is always a good look in the kitchen. Did she have one of those hideous bendy taps *Lady" ?

BasketOfDeplorables · 20/07/2017 17:52

By hideous bendy tap do you mean these?

www.bigbathroomshop.co.uk/Taps/Kitchen_Taps/ca9445.html?gclidpla_prodid=74509&gclid=CjwKCAjwqcHLBRAqEiwA-j4AyHmXgLPSbhby_hnMTJ9n2RnHSwcQ92xi1zbNwgECJkZaNX2rnGwu7BoCyHAQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Our flat came with one similar. They just scream WATER FIGHT to me, I can barely adult in that room now.

SenecaFalls · 20/07/2017 18:08

Smile at Abbatoir Chic. I have a friend who

calls this look Nouveau Autopsy.
