Disgraced myself on a work night out

Can anyone share their tales of similar drunken foolishness to make me feel better???

I can't remember most of details but according to a co worker vomiting and falling asleep in bar were involved 😳

Bluntness "No one goes to a works do and thinks, " im going to get totally plastered tonight and totally embarrass my self. Can't wait""

I must admit, I don't really understand how people can miss crossing the line from tipsy to "right, time to stop now".

tbh a lot of the time I wonder how their bladders don't prevent them consuming so much!!

wonderingwhy2 · 15/07/2017 17:24

Can I ask why people feel the need to get so drunk they make fools out of themselves? And especially if you are in management doesn't look very professional!!

Fgs, lighten up! Smile

No person goes out with the intention of making fools of themselves.

JoandMax · 15/07/2017 17:25

Not a works do but a few weeks ago some of the parents in DS2s class came round - we got hammered, there was dancing on tables and all sorts of shenanigans.

The kids saw it all and proceeded to tell their teacher everything....... When I picked up there was a chorus of sniggering from all the staff!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/07/2017 17:25

I must say, I never have done it, and never witnessed anyone doing it, but someone shitting themselves through drinking too much would change my opinion of them. I would never be able to look at them in the same light.

WhichJob · 15/07/2017 17:26

My first works do back after maternity leave - so basically no drinking for two years
previously thanks to pregnancy/breastfeeding - l got utterly hammered, was sick in the toilets in front of the new team I was managing and went home by 9pm! I now never drink at work dos, EVER, and hardly drink at all. Fucking Prosecco.

Through - have you known people pass out or throw up? I think it's just a difference in how it affects your body.

I'm emetophobic but have low blood pressure. So I reckon I'd pass out before being sick or getting the shits, but low bp makes you more likely to pass out.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 15/07/2017 17:29

Way too many to mention. Declaring undying love to the President of the company, also once woke up to feel the bed moving - but it really was, as I had somehow boarded a boat and had also agreed to crew to New York (I couldn't sail). Waking up in all kinds of places, actually.

I've been in AA for nine years .... but I still feel The Fear when I recall some of these times.

Brazen it out, OP. Dress extra professionally, be cool and collected and privately thank those who helped you.

Shockers · 15/07/2017 17:29

A friend of mine told me about a girl at her office party who got completely undressed, apart from her bra, and lay down to sleep. She folded her clothes and left them in a neat pile, topped with her used sanitary towel.

Exactly. No wonder the country is in such a state. There are so many other wholesome pursuits.

ethanrayne · 15/07/2017 17:30

To be fair I didn't shit myself which is an odd way of feeling better about things.

BonjourMeDarlin · 15/07/2017 17:31

I made up a game called 'pull someone down the hill' which of course meant one person pulls another person down the hill.
So myself and another drunk person were the only ones who played it.
That was about 8pm. Don't remember anything else after that, which probably made it easier to style it out when everyone was else was all Hmm on Monday.

ASauvingnonADay · 15/07/2017 17:32

Definitely been there, done that.

Remember vividly being a bit over friendly and touchy feeling with a close, married colleague. So hungover in work the next day and remembered nothing other than that part. Cringed at the thought of others seeing and what they might have thought.

Have definitely puked and been lairy, although that was when much younger.

There was a puker at our end of year do this year!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/07/2017 17:32

Slim I've known many people throw up-including myself albeit in private. I don't think I've known anyone pass out. Interesting if the shitting thing is just how some people process it rather than throwing up, I assumed it was the next stage. But it's the biggest turn off I know, I find it revolting.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/07/2017 17:34

shockers Shock blimey that is shocking. I honestly don't think I could live some of these down.

ASauvingnonADay · 15/07/2017 17:41

And actually I think over drinking is often through nervousness/anxiety, definitely in my case, and it gets out of hand!

IloveBanff · 15/07/2017 17:43

So many people saying "We've all been there". Not true.

natwebb79 · 15/07/2017 17:43

Dances - We've all been there at the Norwich Waterfront! Blush

SukiTheDog · 15/07/2017 17:44

Years ago, I was in a hospital night out. I'd gone straight from the late shift and showered at work and out my frock on. When I came out of the shower, I had no knickers and tights so, went out without. The night passed in a blur of too much to drink and I remember being on the floor doing that dance where you kind of "row a boat". I've no idea what kind of an eyefull my co-workers got but I can only think it wasn't pretty. Still, we did work on the surgical gynae ward so, it was nothing they hadn't seen before!

SukiTheDog · 15/07/2017 17:45

Bloody auto correct! "ON a night out". "PUT my frock on"

Tigerlovingall · 15/07/2017 17:45

..and the Star so far for me goes to "special Scottish socks" Grin
Cried laughing at that just now...

Girty999 · 15/07/2017 17:49

I once pulled my top up and squashed my boobs on a pub window as my colleagues were sat in the window, I was so drunk I didn't realise the rest of the pub could see me, I've also woken up naked in a bed with two colleagues who were in pj's it was my hen night and they were gay so not like I cheated pmsl x

pleasingone · 15/07/2017 17:54

I always vow not to drink with colleagues and fail - badly.
Last year the Christmas lunch ended up joining another departments evening celebrations, was hammered, made an ass of myself falling around.. few comments back in the office about it, just laughed it off.

The previous year my male boss walked me back to the train station from a pub (again after a long Christmas lunch) and suggested we could go to a hotel for sex!!
I think (hope) it was a throw away comment, maybe he was trying his luck. Anyway, I declined and quickly got my train. He is still my boss, it's never been mentioned (obviously) but I sometimes wonder if he remembers saying it!
