Can anyone share their tales of similar drunken foolishness to make me feel better???

I can't remember most of details but according to a co worker vomiting and falling asleep in bar were involved 😳

Well, yes, but five years ago.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 23/07/2022 05:43

My friends story from many a moon ago soo funny as she got drunk and never drank really and there was a candle on the table and her hair went on fire. She was mortified facing them all. Bet everyone was half drunk at least and you are overthinking in your head if you are feeling bit hungover. Just go in and be your cheery self and if anyone says anything keep your humour and it will pass. We have all been there.

Lovelycupofcoffee · 23/07/2022 05:58

i can think of a few nightmare year end parties I’ve attended. I don’t drink for ages and then seem to make up for it at these events. I think nerves get the better of me and it all goes a bit downhill. We have all been there .

PatientlyWaiting21 · 23/07/2022 06:18

crawled across the dinner table to talk to my friend, dropped £60 worth of shots all over another colleague, bounced down the hotel stairs in just my towel because “the party isn’t over yet”…horrific!

theyoungishman · 23/07/2022 08:05

At the O2 Arena in a sponsored box trying to schmooze business partners (I was a junior at the time)... had way way way too many free drinks and a line of what I thought was coke offered to me in the toilet but turned out to be ketamine... vomited mushroom risotto onto the bar and fell down into a heap, had to be taken to hospital as I was incoherent. Oooh the shame. And I didn't learn my lesson I have hundreds of similar stories Blush

GingerGloucester · 23/07/2022 08:20

Very very drunk, threw up everywhere still throwing up at 9pm the next day! My husband was called by a colleague to pick me up!

fortunately I wasn’t the worst - there was one other guy who got sent home at 9pm in a much worse state than me!

I had a week holiday booked so by the time I went back to work it was all forgotten :)

One of our Scottish bosses got hammered at a works black tie do, he was in full highland dress and sharted down the back of his legs, into his special Scottish socks.

This is the funniest thing I have ever ever read on Mumsnet.

Meklk · 23/07/2022 08:33

Amazing thread, I was laughing all morning :))))
Didn't happen to me, I can't drink much because medicine I'm using but I will remember all my life how our financial assistant said for boss that he is an idiot because she took money lots of times (for personal purposes) and he didn't notice.
She didn't remember anything next morning, she even ended up at A&E with poisoning. But boss checked everything and she was fired next week.
If you are doing something illegal - avoid staff parties! :)

PrayTell · 23/07/2022 08:35

I once worked at a company where one of the managers went out for a business lunch with his department and returned to work staggering and completely pissed. He had to be supported in order to stay on his feet. He apparently emerged from that situation just fine. 🥳

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 23/07/2022 09:10

Taken to a and e handcuffed to a trolley. This was 40 years ago. I still cringe mightily when I think of it. I'm cringing now.
Never explain, never complain. Go in and pretend nothing happened.

Puked outside the bar, farting really loudly as I did. Co worker rubbing my back trying not to laugh.
Was about 15 years ago now. Still die inside a bit when I think about it 🤣

midsomermurderess · 23/07/2022 09:15

Someone applied to work at my firm years ago because she lost her job. She had got off her head at a work do and launched into a vicious attack on the woman running the place. Next day, she thought/hoped it would blow over because look, she just pissed. Not a chance. So it really could be worse.

And why do that f’ing stupid eye roll at someone saying throwing up on the bed is grim? It is grim. Someone here posted recently about her husband throwing up all over the place when he came home plastered. On here, absolute scenes.

Raul57 · 23/07/2022 09:16

The title of this thread, two things if you wish to avoid.
Do as I did.

1 = Rarely go out on a works night
2= If you don't drink alcohol and you will be fine.

I've worked with people that were, thought they were middle class and some would say I was anti-social nothing going out ith them. As the years went on they hardly went out together. Why was this, lol. It was becuse they got drunk and fell out.

Itsnotwhatitlookslike · 23/07/2022 09:21

I imagine op is over it by now.

Daffiy · 23/07/2022 09:26

The CEO got sloshed in our Christmas office party and decided he needed his then fantastic head of wavy hair cut by one of the staff. I volunteered as tribute despite never having trimmed a hair in my life, but had the confidence that two bottles of wine brings.
We had a drunkenly hilarious time cutting it, he ended up looking like Wurzel gummidge and off we went to the local bars.
A few of us were in early the next day and one of the juniors took a very pissed off call from his wife. Oh dear.

Deguster · 23/07/2022 09:39

Outing but when working in forrin lands after a painful stint in Jeddah (dry), I got pissed, stole a golf cart from a hotel and drove it into the sea.

I am not a drunk, thief or vandal in everyday life, I was mortified and made good the damage, but I don’t go near tequila these days because it does weird shit to my brain.

I had about 3 years of “fuck it’s Deg - hide your car keys!” before it piped down.

Most of us have been there OP! X

Woodsie54 · 23/07/2022 09:53

I have not read all of the thread but my advice simple.Irrespective of what people admit to if they drink they have probably been in the same position as you. You will if not already find out who your true friends are and when I worked I avoided the works do like the proverbial.

Thefriendlymoth · 23/07/2022 09:56

Oh you poor thing. I had a work do last night too (fortunately just lots of embarrassing dancing on my behalf) but my craziest work night out was from a job years ago - the company had hired a marquee and the night was going well, everyone on the dance floor when suddenly the two top sales men got into a massive fist fight, a manager went over to intervene and got elbowed in the face, cue a literal brawl with more people than I have ever seen fighting - it was actually pretty terrifying and the police rocked up . It was a mid week party and the next day the office was pretty much empty. It ended up with about 20 people getting fired/not returning. Hope “The Fear” lifts for you soon OP and you don’t feel too rough for too long!

Coffeetree · 23/07/2022 09:57

Another one saying no we haven't all been there. If you want to try to normalise it, go ahead.

I can just about remember ' coke'. The trick is - as I learned to my cost - do the line before you get rat arsed , not after.

As for ketamine it I can't help. Seems the trick is not to do it. But you weren't to know.

RampantIvy · 23/07/2022 10:04

Good advice from @youhavetobekidding.
While I have been known to over imbibe, luckily it was never at a work do.

Just a word of warning though - at a work do 9 years ago a couple of colleagues got spectacularly and memorably drunk. One threw up all over the table in the restaurant, and the other one went missing and we had the police out looking for her.

We still talk about it to this day.

WaveyHair · 23/07/2022 10:09

Not me, but at an evening dinner table a colleague's wife, who had way too much to drink, threw up into someone else's handbag.

Blofield · 23/07/2022 10:18

Last week a colleague got pissed very very very pissed and threw herself at a man whose partner just had a baby!!! Nothing more shaming than that

TheGoogleMum · 23/07/2022 10:30

Been there! Just apologise and drink less next time! Did you eat before drinking?
