...to buy a swimsuit with legs?

BaldricksTrousers · 10/07/2017 13:51

Sorry for the strange wording. But I need a new one-piece swimsuit as I swim about three times a week for fitness. Most suits nowadays seem to be pretty high cut and I really dislike shaving my pubic area. Even trimming the hair doesn't seem to cut it. WIBU to buy a swimsuit that has built-in shorts like the one pictured? Or will I look strange? I should say that my body does not resemble the model's.

I see a fair number of women wearing them these days. Just be careful you don't buy a racing suit, as they aim to compress you for speed and come up very small!

thecatneuterer · 10/07/2017 13:54

For the beach - definitely not, but for fitness swimming in a swimming pool it seems like a good idea to me. I don't think I would consider it strange if I saw it.

SheSaidHeSaid · 10/07/2017 13:54

Go for it. I've seen women in these too and haven't thought anything of it.

NevermindtheBollocks · 10/07/2017 13:54

Why not just not shave?

CigarsofthePharoahs · 10/07/2017 13:54

I have a similar one, though the legs aren't so long. Got it in Decathlon.

Aquamarine1029 · 10/07/2017 13:54

I think you will look great in that suit, and it will be very comfortable to wear while swimming. Definitely go for it!

TakeThatFuckingDressOffNow · 10/07/2017 13:54

It looks great - of course you should buy it. I'm sure you'll look fab. Honestly the aren't weird or freaky at all. Go girl! I might get one myself.

Floofborksnootandboop · 10/07/2017 13:56

Why not just not shave?

She already said she doesn't like it and why should she just shave?

Rriot · 10/07/2017 13:56

Looks fine to me.

However I also wouldn't give a shit if someone had a few pubic hairs on show, so don't make yourself uncomfortable when you don't have to!

AfunaMbatata · 10/07/2017 13:56

I've worn those types for years, I can't be doing with having to pull the swimsuit from between my buttcrack every length.

Wear whatever is safe and you feel comfortable it.

YANBU. You can also get boy leg ones that look more 'normal' like this one from Decathlon.

I've got one. I hate shaving too, not only does it mean planning prior to swimming but I get terrible rashes and ingrown hairs and quite frankly I like a good bush!

Those swimsuits are so convenient. I don't have a figure like hers either and it's not the most flattering on me, but that's more than do with my flab than the legs on the suit. High cut wouldn't alter the podge for me.

TaurielTest · 10/07/2017 13:58

I wear a legsuit like that for swimming in the pool and in the sea. I find it comfortable and practical and have never noticed anyone looking askance at it!

MeltorPeltor · 10/07/2017 14:01

I take DS swimming every week and have one of these, it's just easier than having to keep on top of waxing every week (with pale skin and fast growing dark hair this is nigh on impossible even though I wax 3 weekly!)

I have gorgeous sexy bikinis and practical tankinis but this is just super practical

DramaInPyjamas · 10/07/2017 14:01

"Why not just not shave?"

She already said she doesn't like it and why should she just shave

^^

I think what was meant was, why not just don't bother shaving at all

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 10/07/2017 14:02

I think you misunderstood the question Floof

MeltorPeltor · 10/07/2017 14:03

I got mine is Sports Direct but I like that Decathalon one.

I also find my boobs are harder for the toddler to accidentally expose in this!

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 10/07/2017 14:03

Sorry, x-post, wasn't having a go...

GabsAlot · 10/07/2017 14:04

i want one of these coz of flab aswell where are thy from?

allegretto · 10/07/2017 14:06

I have one like Barbara posted for swimming. Lots of people wear them in our pool.

wrenika · 10/07/2017 14:06

I have one like that - they're great!
I got mine because I had to do water training as part of my job and I loathe my legs so the last thing I wanted was my colleagues seeing them. It was a great choice for my confidence.

BaldricksTrousers · 10/07/2017 14:07

Thanks for the recommendations! And support :)

I will have a look in Sports Direct this week for other styles but might order this one.

I started this thread mainly because I asked one of my friends if IWBU to buy this suit and she was just like, "yes" with no explanation. So I wondered if it was unusual!

The one I posted is on Amazon btw...

I have one.
Love it, except....
Unforeseen issue: if you go to the loo to have a wee in an ordinary costume, you can just hoik the gusset to one side, or pull it down.
With legged swimsuit, it's gotta come right off. But then, once mind's wet, something it becomes almost impossible tot wrestle and wriggle back into.Don't understand why.
So, maybe depends on, if like me, you're likely to pop to the loo whilst at pool. My younger self wouldn't have needed to.
