Woman dyes her 2 year old daughters hair

I just read this and wonder what on earth she is thinking at the age of 2, or am i just old fashioned???

A mum has ignited a parenting debate on Instagram after dying her two-year-old daughter’s hair pink.

Charity Grace LeBlanc, a vlogger from the US, explained in a YouTube video tutorial of the transformation that her daughter Felicity (City for short) had been asking for pink hair for ages.

“I’m dying my two year old daughter’s hair PINK!,” the summary of the video reads. “She has been begging me for a long time so we finally just went ahead and did it! I used Manic Panic Hot Pink which is a direct dye and is safe for kids. It washed out in about three to four days.”

“I’m not lightening the hair because I don’t want to damage her hair, cause she’s still really little,” the mum said during the video clip.

“The dye I’m using is a semi-permanent dye, which will wash out,” she continued.

he mum also took to her Instagram to share a clip of the video and ask other parents if they’d consider dying their own children’s hair “City’s pink hair is now up on my YouTube channel! Link in bio! What do you guys think!? Would you let your daughter do this!?” she captioned the video.

And the post quickly sparked a debate about whether it was OK to dye a toddlers hair.

Some parents were totally against the idea.

“This is so irresponsible of you. Of course she’s going to want it. She’s a kid! She doesn’t know what she wants! And you, the parent should know better! She’s going to be bald by the age of 20,” one parent wrote.

“How can u do that to such a cute child I feel so bad for her,” added another.

“Adorable! but no I wouldn’t do it to my daughter,” another parent commented.

If her daughter actually wanted it, I don't really see the problem tbh

If it's safe and won't damage her hair what's the problem?

It doesn't really matter, does it?

When that child applies for college, no one will care what colour her hair was/is.

I honestly can't get her up about that at all. Tbh I think putting pictures and stories of dc online ( not anonymously) is a far worse parenting fail.

But I do love pink hair

Why didn't she just got her a wig? I seem to remember a kids show with a little girl character with pink or purple hair, and the shops sold costumes. Fit Town or summit.

It's vegetable dye! Completely non toxic and safe.

Can't see what all the fuss is about really. I wouldn't do it myself but that's mainly because of the mess involved with a wriggly little one.

It's just hair. No damage done.

Like she said she didn't bleach it, the dye washes out and what kid wouldn't love pink hair for a few days?

I used to put spray on colours in Dds hair when she was about 3.
It was cute and harmless

It's temporary so I can't get too crazy about it. I wouldn't personally do it for my daughter. I love her hair naturally and I feel like I'm in charge of that until she's bigger.
I'm not keen on the instagrammy lifestyle being projected onto a kid to sell crap like "bikini babe tea" though.

Manic Panic is safe hair dye. If she was whacking some permanent Live Colour XXL on there I'd be a bit about the fumes and the chemicals but I can't get worked up about a bit of Manic Panic, plus the pink is adorable

Haven't read it but if it's just a veg die then fair enough, her daughter will probably remember her being a really cool, laid back mum :)

See if you'd asked me this after my first child I'd likely be horrified
Now I've had 3 I'm thinking - meh it's only hair and it washes out, who gives a fuck?
I've promised 6 year old DD she can have purple hair for the summer, it's just hair and she'll be happy, who cares!

Just jealous she can seemingly relax on a beach in a spa type way with a small child. Surely child was running round causing mayhem tipping the bikini babe tea everywhere and mum was really stressed thirty seconds after photo was taken? Please?

Meh my younger has hair chalk and made a huge mess of my soft furnishings, paint and wallpaper when she decided to play hairdressers. Don't know too much about this dye but other posters are saying it's harmless so don't see the harm.

I wouldn't have done it to mine, but only because they wouldn't have sat still long enough. It hair, it doesn't really matter.

Meh, it says it's a vegan one which won't damage the hair and will wash out. Nothing to say she's doing it continuously. For me it's a bit of fun that the little girl probably likes. As her mums hair is coloured she probably wants coloured hair too.

If she was bleaching it or something, that would be different, but this looks fine and the little girl is probably chuffed she has both pink hair and coloured hair like her mum.

My niece wanted unicorn hair, so her mum brought loads of pastel colour sprays and she had unicorn hair for. a few days. She was 2.8 months

I don't really see the problem with this. I did the same for my eldest dd when she was 5 and her hair is healthy and strong still.

My 2 year old has had pink streaks with hair chalks and yes she asked for it. We were doing the same for my eldest for a school thing at the time. It's just a bit of fun.

I blame Lazy Town.

I can't help thinking the mum did it mainly so she could get lots of hits on her You Tube channel
I can't imagine a 2 year old "begging for ages for pink hair".. They're very fickle at that age and can barely talk.

I don't see the problem if it's wash out. My friend's daughter had purple hair for her 3rd bday party.

I don't see a problem, she's probably asked for it younger than most because of her mums hair. My mum uses manic panic and it's a great company nice colours and doesn't damage your hair, when I was little I got lice in Australia about 7 yrs old and they won't let you back in school even if you only have dead eggs after like 2 weeks my mum ended up dying my hair my natural colour (lice was gone just dead eggs). Didn't do my hair any damage and that wasn't even the veg I stuff.

This sounds like exactly the kind of thing a child of toddler age would ask for.
Children tend to be drawn to bright colours.

With colour that washes out and doesn't contain harmful chemicals, I see no problem.

Certainly much less harmful than piercing the child's ears.

Or forcing her to wear a pink shirt every day.

Or really most of the things people do to make their children conform to what they think the child should look like.
