I can’t open that link but i am guessing that it is about someone being assaulted? I would say that Brighton is no more or less safe than most cities. People can and do get assaulted in every town and city sadly. My DD lived in Brighton for a while and when i went to visit her i got my purse stolen in a pub. However I don’t for one minute believe that Brighton is more crime ridden than other places. I was just unlucky.

threesocksmorgan · 20/06/2017 10:20

can't open link, but it is, have lived here over 30 years and its as safe as any where

IT WAS NOT IN BRIGHTON
peacehaven is not in Brighton
(hope poor man is ok)

VeryButchyRestingFace · 20/06/2017 10:21

I was thinking this was going to be almost getting blown off Brighton Pier, which almost happened to me in February.

Assaults happen in every city, but not every city has a pier to get blown off. 💨

Pinkheart5912 · 20/06/2017 10:23

Sadly assaults can & do happen everywhere in the uk so I don't see how this makes Brighton unsafe tbh.

Brighton is no more safe or unsafe than anywhere else of course yabu to think it isn't safe

coldflange · 20/06/2017 10:23

There is crime in every town and city.

I read my local newspaper and despair at what is going on.

So YABU and YANBU Grin

Brighton is probably no more unsafe than many large towns and cities across the country. I've been a few times and not been overly worried - even walking around late at night alone.

threesocksmorgan · 20/06/2017 10:25

itt did npt happen in Brighton
sorry but the op got it wrong and its annoying

Birdsgottaf1y · 20/06/2017 10:29

I live in Liverpool, in the last 48 hours we have had, shootings, stabbings, GBH, that i know of.

I don't feel unsafe, as such.

If there are likely to be other people around, then any place can't guarantee to be safe and that is without environmental factors, which are dangerous if there are no other people about.

So you can't win that one.

NemosKnickers · 20/06/2017 10:32

how odd

threesocksmorgan · 20/06/2017 10:37

wouldn't normally do this, but OP has form for this stuff
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2830237-To-not-feel-safe-in-London-and-near-London

Slimthistime · 20/06/2017 10:42

Weird post.

VeryButchyRestingFace · 20/06/2017 10:43

Maybe everywhere feels unsafe relative to the beauteous fjords of Norway? Grin

Ceto · 20/06/2017 10:45

I see you live in Norway, home of Anders Brevik. Why do you feel so safe there?

SeagullsStoleMyChurro · 20/06/2017 10:47

This was in Peacehaven not Brighton.

VeryButchyRestingFace · 20/06/2017 10:49

I see you live in Norway, home of Anders Brevik

I think she used to, not any more.

As for ol' Anders, hasn't he got a mere 14 years left to serve?

Floggingmolly · 20/06/2017 10:50

Hideously awful thing to happen, but you're deluded if you think there are places that this sort of thing can't happen.
Unfortunately.

OlbasMossy · 20/06/2017 10:50

Because of one assault Confused report? yabu

MyFavouriteName · 20/06/2017 10:53

Why would you start a thread on this? Look at any local newspaper for any city or big town and you'll see assaults regularly. Also in more rural local news slightly less frequently. Really not a big deal that it happens in PEACEHAVEN too.

JeffVadersMum · 20/06/2017 10:56

Brighton to Peacehaven ....21 min (6.5 mi) via A259

to think Brighton isn't safe?
Almondmilk · 20/06/2017 10:57

It happened once in Norway. Britain gets a lot of violence. Still trying to understand whether I can move there! So i try to find a safe city, close to London.
So to the little sherlock holmes, yes I am used to high safety.

Peacehaven is SO close to Brighton

Strange.

threesocksmorgan · 20/06/2017 10:57

Peacehaven is SO close to Brighton

yes
BUT IT IS NOT IN BRIGHTON

VeryButchyRestingFace · 20/06/2017 10:59

Have you considered taking a self defence course, OP? Maybe take up judo?

Something constructive might help with the anxiety. Because there's no town or city on earth that is devoid of violent crime.

AperolOnIce · 20/06/2017 11:00

Very strange. By the same logic Shoreham is very close to Brighton. Have you scoured the papers for wrongdoings there? How about, say, Lewes? I'm sure that's a hotbed of organised crime.
Oh wait - you're looking for a place where there's NEVER any kind of crime, anti-social behaviour, questionable deeds of any kind? I think you'd probably be better off looking at one of those islands off the Scottish coasts which only have one resident and a few thousand sheep. And even then..... Grin

RedToothBrush · 20/06/2017 11:00

You get murders and stabbings in leafy middle class suburbs and villages that are extortionate to live in.

They are not the exclusive preserve of cities or big towns.

This is just a thread that is a dig at liberals and lefties who live in Brighton isn't it? Its supposed to shit stir.
