Put me down for a mention of electoral college or crowd size please - we must be due for one of those soon.

Isn't he supposed to be off on his trip soon?

Rousette - the Obama scandals were shocking.

Fox News vilified him once for chewing gum. OK it was in China, where chewing gum in public is not acceptable, but hardly deserving of how Fox handled the news.

There was also outrage, when Obama dared to ware a tan colored suit. Not appropriate apparently.

How he survived not getting impeached, I'll never know. Grin

NB: I long for the days when wearing a tan suit was a 'scandal'.

At least he didn't have a fake tan. Grin

Tomorrow, I 'think', Orlantina.

WhenLoveAndCakeCollide · 18/05/2017 14:05

Oops - just noticed my spelling faux pas - I do know the difference between ware and wear, I promise. I'm not Trump.

Just typing too fast!

Lweji · 18/05/2017 14:10

I wonder what he was like as a child being told off? Or at school?

He was kicked out of school and had to go to a military college. 'Nough said.

For some reason I'm getting a feeling of sadness.
Seeing a President mocked as a baby, imagining how bad he'll act under proper criminal questioning, possibly being removed from office under the shadow of arguably the worst presidency in history.
I strongly dislike the man, but I suspect that if it moves to impeachment it will be a thoroughly cringing affair. On his part. Nasty, brutal and depressing. And I can't help but feel sad for him.

cozietoesie · 18/05/2017 14:39

Feel sad, if you must, for the Presidency and the American people, Lweji. They're what has been shamed. Not him.

Lweji · 18/05/2017 14:51

Yes, I think that's a huge part of that feeling too, that a country has to go through this and has this person as their leader. Leader that they chose.

As a nation, though, assuming all goes well, I think it will be one of those periods that will allow it to grow further, reinforce democracy, and, hopefully, lead voters to be more weary of demagogues and swamp creatures. Fingers crossed.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 18/05/2017 15:07

I'm fearful that even if Trump is removed, some of his supporters will only feel more disenfranchised and become more entrenched in their views.

Even once he's gone, the quick erosion of previously-held democratic principles and the very casual acceptance of a lot of the population of his authoritarian behaviours will be much harder to reverse.
