To be a bit annoyed at this supermarket worker?

Went to the local Tesco Express and had waited ages in the queue (it was very busy and I do appreciate that) but I finally got to the till and was being served by a young girl (could be anywhere between 16-26) and it was going fine, but then some lady came up and was putting her items on the till too, I said I was still being served and she just said "yes" and she didn't speak very good English, so it was quite hard to explain. The girl on till said the same thing and told her to please pick up her items while she serves me, but the lady still didn't move and so the worker just kept on serving me? She left the other lady's items there and didn't attempt to move them and didn't ask the lady to move and there were 4 other tills empty so could have moved over to serve me?

Yabu , give the girl a bloody break. You still got served.

Allthewaves · 16/04/2017 20:18

She served you, that's enough. Would have caused more time and arguments for her to move

PastysPrincess · 16/04/2017 20:19

What Solo said

WorraLiberty · 16/04/2017 20:19

I know it's a quiet day with it being Easter Sunday

But really???

Crack open an egg and think nice thoughts.

CantChoose · 16/04/2017 20:19

I think she did the best thing under the circumstances, sorry!

CrockedPot · 16/04/2017 20:19

But you still got served?

harderandharder2breathe · 16/04/2017 20:20

Yabu

Would you rather she wasted her time and yours arguing with the woman? She served you. What's the problem? I guarantee she's not paid enough to get into arguments with idiot shoppers.

SoloDance · 16/04/2017 20:20

They can't just move over and use the other tills without signing on to them and faffing about for a start.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 16/04/2017 20:20

I hate it when someone jumps the queue.

twattymctwatterson · 16/04/2017 20:20

Can't work this out at all. Girl in Tesco is serving you and someone came up and put her things on the till at the same time as you, didn't speak English very well to resolve the matter with her so the checkout person continued to serve ypu? What's the issue here? Why is age relevant?

JustMumNowNotMe · 16/04/2017 20:20

Oh for crying out loud, get a bloody grip!

DevelopingDetritus · 16/04/2017 20:22

Try and put yourself in the supermarket workers shoes and have a very long hard think about this for a while.

SoloDance · 16/04/2017 20:22

Queue jumpers are annoying, but the OP got served first.

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2017 20:22

What were the emergency goods you were buying?

UnicornButtplug · 16/04/2017 20:22

I don't get it?

PortiaCastis · 16/04/2017 20:22

Don't be an arse

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 16/04/2017 20:23

Oh hang on, she didn't jump the queue?
What happened, actually?

SoloDance · 16/04/2017 20:23

Were you buying emergency wine? Have a glass and chill out.

user1492369337 · 16/04/2017 20:23

I'm going to be flamed for this, but I thought her age mattered because I do think younger workers are unsure on how to handle situations. Yes, but she let the lady just stand next to me and leave all her items on the till, so potential confusion to know what items are what.

Confused

But all was ultimately ok and you got served? Yes?

hula008 · 16/04/2017 20:25

What was she supposed to do? She asked her to move them, the lady didn't. You can just jump over tills in the middle of a transaction.

WorraLiberty · 16/04/2017 20:26

Noooooo not potential confusion surely? Shock

Was there any actual confusion or did everyone come out of the situation unharmed? Grin

hula008 · 16/04/2017 20:26

I don't think there was a situation to handle!

SoloDance · 16/04/2017 20:26

She probably handles so many situations like this every single bloody day. Don't be so daft.

ToastyFingers · 16/04/2017 20:27

I don't think there's anything wrongbwith what she did.

People expect fucking miracles from minimum wage shop assistants, and working on Easter Sunday nonetheless.
