To have wanted to report this guy

Getting off a packed train at King's Cross today I noticed an extremely drunk man with his daughter. She was about 5/6, he had evidently brought her up to London for the weekend. I know he was drunk because a) he REEKED of booze b) his eyes were red c) he nearly fell off the train getting off. He went the wrong way towards the end of the platform before someone pointed him in the right direction. Last I heard of him was 'Right, let's go to Lessersqqquare'

My heart broke in two for his lovely shiny girl, with her backpack and excited eyes.

Should I have reported him? Could I have? Who to?

Yes, British Transport Police

Trifleorbust · 10/03/2017 18:29

I'm not sure you will get anywhere with that.

Lalalax3 · 10/03/2017 18:31

I recall him shouting about his pit bulls too, at one point

I remember reading recently about 2 women having their children taken away and put into foster care, when they boarded a bus, drunk at 10am

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 10/03/2017 18:37

Pit bulls? In the UK? Really? Hysteria much ?

Birdsgottaf1y · 10/03/2017 18:37

If he didn't reek of booze then I'd say YANU. My kidneys are underperforming and my eyes go red when I'm physically struggling. I get clumsy, as well.

So the child was well presented? It's someone else's call, if he puts her in danger, in any way. You didn't see enough to report him.

Hopefully, he'd have something to eat and sober up.

Moanyoldcow · 10/03/2017 18:37

This makes me so sad.

Diabetic ketoacidosis is usually manifested by the person's breath bearing a fruity or alcoholic odour. This is because the person's cells are not able to use the glucose he consumes for energy due to the cells' low insulin levels.
In this instance the body resorts to burning fat in order to provide energy for the cells, and by-products known as ketones are produced. As ketones accumulate in the bloodstream, the person's breath starts to give off an odour of alcohol.
Diabetic ketoacidosis is potentially life-threatening. See a doctor immediately if it is suspected.

He was pissed, not diabetic. I'm certain of that.

Navy: From what she was saying her mum had put her on the train to meet him.

Userone1 · 10/03/2017 18:42

You don't have to be an alcoholic to be pissed

Lalalax3 · 10/03/2017 18:43

I didn't say he was an alcoholic

Userone1 · 10/03/2017 18:45

A 5 year old on the train alone

BoneyBackJefferson · 10/03/2017 18:45

Your story would have to connect together better for it to have any long lasting legal affect.

Birdsgottaf1y · 10/03/2017 18:46

Out of interest, why didn't you alert a Guard, to make a decision on contacting the Police?

Lalalax3 · 10/03/2017 18:47

im not trying to mount any kind legal threat

OP posts:
John4703 · 10/03/2017 18:47

Report him to British Transport Police. If they check and there is no problem he has wasted 10 minutes, if they find a problem a child is saved from potential harm. The child will probably enjoy all the attention no matter what.
Child safety must come first.

Userone1 · 10/03/2017 18:48

5 year old put on train alone to meet drunk father, who has pit bulls lol 🙄

WorraLiberty · 10/03/2017 18:54
