Michael Moore is right. His 'hardcore' fan base will never change. But I believe the fan base that truly believes he is the Messiah is smaller than it appears. I think the majority of them are people for whom he was/is the lesser of two evils or people for whom a certain issue caused them to vote for him. I think that these are the people who need to be reached, the ones who are still listening to Trump 'favorably' but may reach a point of "Wait, what did he just say? Hold on a minute.....". It's already happened to two people I know of, you see them on TV, there's a whole Twitter feed for them. It's why the media needs to keep speaking the real truth, why we need to organize, and why we need to approach those we know or encounter without rancor and argumentativeness.

Oh on a slightly separate but related note: I see that Piers Morgan has backed out of presenting a TV awards ceremony after protests.

He has posted a snarky comment on FB (I think) about diverse views being important but that his own diverse views don't seem to be wanted.

Just out of interest, has he actually STATED any of those diverse views in the past week or so? Particularly since the batshit press conference?

Pre-travel ban, you couldn't shut the man up about his great pal Trump.

He went a lot quieter post-travel ban.

In the last 5ish days, his silence has been deafening.

But still he wants to make a petty little remark about his 'diverse views' not being wanted.

Please, Piers, give us some of your diverse views on your big buddy's attempts to castrate the media, would you? I'm dying to hear your justification of it.

Has dear Piers had ANYTHING to say about this fucking stupid 'fake news' shit at all?

I suspect he is out of his depth, Nevertheless. Completely.

agree across, and same problems here too, building bridges, some how, is what will disarm.

Hope this clear democrat resistance bears fruit, peacefully.

Sorry. And any others.

Are people talking about the 2018 elections yet?

(If we get there........)

"I suspect he is out of his depth, Nevertheless. Completely."

Ok.

Is Pence out of his depth too?
Or is he like a Roman General struggling to work alongside a rebel slave army, waiting to step in to do things properly and hoping the rebels will fail before they drag him down too?

Someone has posted this on Facebook. Clearly there's a massive conspiracy going on in Kentucky!

So are we thinking that their biggest weakness is that they won?
But that before they fall we may all be dragged down with them?

It's pretty broad the 14 outcomes, interesting. Honestly doesn't it depend on how mad Bannon, Tillerson and Pence are, and if they don't destroy each other first. And how disciplined and organised the democrats manage to be.

cozietoesie · 19/02/2017 21:29

As I understand it (happy to be corrected) all the seats in the House of Representatives and 34 of the Senate seats are up for election in 2018. Given that one of the current issues is having a Republican Congress OKing 45's choices, the GOP are likely to be a little more hunkered down and .......responsive to the electorate fairly shortly, I would have thought?

If we get there of course.

I think journalists should just ask him hard questions about serious issues.

Give him no opportunity to attack fake news. Just ask him questions.
