Thanks for the head's up Mortificado, the dust bunnies and I were getting bored behind the sofa!

Basically Seneca it was great, the greatest. He's cutting the cost of everything, by bigly millions. Every good dude is going to have a job, a great job, and the bad dudes with such bad ideas, so sad, are going to go back home. He's going to sort out those bad judges, build tunnels, bridges and roads. I think that covers it. Oh, and lots of soundbites about forrin places he doesn't understand anything about.

Nicenew thanks for the summarization. Sounds about right, except you probably could have condensed it even further to 'Bullshit bullshit, blah blah, yakkety schmakkety, me me me, MAGA.'

Thanks for providing the salient points of the GREAT rally last night so I didn't have to watch it. Can't wait to see it destroyed in the FAKE NEWS today.

Roussette · 19/02/2017 07:06

Lweji that link... so someone from the National Security Council was at a private dinner and he criticised Trump and Bannon etc... obviously someone's dobbed him in and now he's been sacked??

Thank god Australia is on the ball. Yes, Trump DID make up a refugee attack on Sweden .

Forgot this bit... safe zones in syria for refugees. Gulf States gonna pay for them as "they have nothing but money".

Amazing how he's going to get all these countries to pay for all these things isn't it? Mexico and now Gulf States.

The guy he called up on stage is a seriously deluded unpleasant person.

Fighter jets scrambled over MarLago before he left for his Rally. Trump is costing an absolute fortune in security

titsmcgee22 · 19/02/2017 07:21

rousette I like to think he does a little advert moment with himself in the mirror "because I'm worth it" 😱🤢

Have looked at some of the crazy twitter support for his rally, posting old vids of police attacks in Paris and calling it a war zone and rounding on anyone who calls them out on it. Maybe he put something in the water??

merrymouse · 19/02/2017 07:26

uk.businessinsider.com/trump-cited-a-nonexistent-incident-in-sweden-during-his-rally-on-saturday-2017-2?r=US&IR=T

re Sweden - Apparently in Trump speak "happening last night" = something he saw on Fox last night, in this case about a supposed rise in crime linked to refugees.

Roussette · 19/02/2017 07:36

So Trump gets all his information from cable channels - the media he calls 'fake news'.
Rightio.... no intel briefings or reading papers for Trump then!

And the bloke he invited on stage he'd seen on telly in the queue when he was watching his adoring fans wait patiently for him.

amispartacus · 19/02/2017 07:40

Question for Spicer.

What happened in Sweden?

When I say 'reading papers' ... I mean official papers as opposed to newspapers!

I still want to know what Melania is going to do to help women and children 'all round the world'. She's so obviously hating all this, I can't see her doing anything

Placemarking, thanks for the commentary on lady night's rally. I was in bed by 10 so missed it. So sad Wink

Part of me feels sorry for her but in the lead up to the election she was interviewed and she was quite fiery in her total defence of her husband. I know she has to be but the way she talked about him hitting out if anyone says anything against him was quite chilling.

So I'm not actually sure that she is the downtrodden wife being so brave to be with him - more like she sold her soul for a lot of riches. Sorry that sounds quite mean doesn't it. Time will tell

minifingerz · 19/02/2017 08:40

I wonder if there has been an upsurge in subscriptions to the Washington Post and NY Times? I'm thinking of getting one just to show some solidarity.

And so looking forward to Trump's UK visit in July. Desperately hoping it won't clash with work commitments as I fancy joining one of the many protests that I'm sure will be waiting for him when he arrives. Any plans for a mumsnet Trump protest meet up? Grin

nicenewdusters · 19/02/2017 08:43

After I woke up this morning I suddenly thought of the Trump speech last night. I agree Grommit, totally akin to living in an episode of the Simpsons. Great to be able to catch up with the thread and laugh at the shared idiocy of it all.

I loved the Fake News Menu. I'd order one of those drinks with a Trump Burger. It'd be a yuge burger. At first sight, if you're not really looking, it appears tasty. After a few bites you realise it's made of cheap shit, put together badly and only the packaging has been well considered. It has no nutritious value and should be binned straight away. The burger comes with a side order of skinny fries, who say the Lord's Prayer before you eat them.

Obama's site going live last week, then Blair's speech were not co incidental. Think there's going to be more where that came from this week. Smile
Yes I will subscribe to NYT, he's done wonders for their circulation.

An interview once asked her if she would have married Trump if he wasn't rich, she replied, "Do you think he would have married me if I wasn't beautiful?"

Yeah, no illusions there.

The same question about anti-Semitic incidents from the press conference after meeting Netenyahu

Q Mr. President, since your election campaign and even after your victory, we’ve seen a sharp rise in anti-Semitic incidents across the United States. And I wonder what you say to those among the Jewish community in the States, and in Israel, and maybe around the world who believe and feel that your administration is playing with xenophobia and maybe racist tones.

And, Mr. Prime Minister, do you agree to what the President just said about the need for Israel to restrain or to stop settlement activity in the West Bank? And a quick follow-up on my friend’s questions -- simple question: Do you back off from your vision to the end of the conflict of two-state solution as you laid out in Bar-Ilan speech, or you still support it? Thank you.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, I just want to say that we are very honored by the victory that we had -- 306 Electoral College votes. We were not supposed to crack 220. You know that, right? There was no way to 221, but then they said there’s no way to 270. And there’s tremendous enthusiasm out there.

I will say that we are going to have peace in this country. We are going to stop crime in this country. We are going to do everything within our power to stop long-simmering racism and every other thing that’s going on, because lot of bad things have been taking place over a long period of time.

I think one of the reasons I won the election is we have a very, very divided nation. Very divided. And, hopefully, I’ll be able to do something about that. And, you know, it was something that was very important to me.

As far as people Jewish people so many friends, a daughter who happens to be here right now, a son-in-law, and three beautiful grandchildren. I think that you’re going to see a lot different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. I think a lot of good things are happening, and you’re going to see a lot of love. You’re going to see a lot of love. Okay? Thank you.

I don't think he gave any answer except:
We won
You're going to see a lot of love

When you compare his answers to other people's, they are much shorter and lacking in policy.

Mini I'd be up for the Mumsnet Trump protest meet up. Sadly I can't think of any of my friends who'd go on a march. Many have said "Oh, I don't listen to him anymore, he's such an idiot." They'd be too worried about missing their two hour slot for the supermarket delivery Sad

woman12345 · 19/02/2017 08:48

I think the lords prayer was a plea for higher authority, her voice was trembling throughout, trump said he wasn't expecting it.

Anti semitism:
Trump's holocaust day omission; May's "citizens from nowhere" speech. Oldest form of racism. May not have any trade deals, but they can unite on this one.
